The chicken tax created the midsized trucks we have today. Without it, some models that are used the world over would be available at truly reasonable pricesโ€ฆ

Ex? The Toyota Hillux. Literally referred to as indestructible in many parts of the world and we can't get them here because of the 25% import tax.

Cheaper transportation is needed in the US.

Unless there's some new tech coming that will supplant terrestrial rolling transport, in the US, people need inexpensive cars that get good gas mileage and are durable. Think 80's accords.

The average cost of a new vehicle is well beyond the reach of many who would continue to excel if they had reliable transportation.

TRUTH!!! Affordable workhorses. Lots of options out there, we just don't have any internal competition because of the chicken tax etc.

When a true small truck can outperform many of the mid sized trucks for half the price, the bloated expense of full sized trucks drops too.
