Department of Education opens investigation into Minnesota State Highschool Leage (MSHSL) over trans policy.

The investigation comes after MSHSL recently told member schools that it will continue to allow athletes to compete "consistent with their gender identity."

In a press release, the U.S. Department of Education said state laws “do not override federal antidiscrimination laws, and these entities and their member schools remain subject to Title IX and its implementing regulations.”

The California Interscholastic Federation is also under investigation.

“The Minnesota State High School League and the California Interscholastic Federation are free to engage in all the meaningless virtue-signaling that they want, but at the end of the day they must abide by federal law,” said Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Craig Trainor.

Sure, it is… "entirely personal". LMAO. She's making room for Peggy Flanagan, you can bet on it!

'Entirely personal': Democrat Tina Smith to not seek reelection in 2026.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer praised Smith's leadership and commitment to the state in a statement Thursday, adding he is not concerned about the party's future where her vacancy is concerned.

"We have a strong bench in Minnesota and I’m confident that we’ll keep her seat blue," Schumer said.

There's a plethora of Minnesota Democrats being eyed to vie for the now open seat. The state's lieutenant governor, Peggy Flanagan, made her intent to run known an hour after Smith's announcement.

Other names floated, though not official, include Governor, and former vice-presidential candidate, Tim Walz, as well as Reps. Ilhan Omar and Angie Craig.

NBC Universal promotes Rebecca Kutler to President of MSNBC.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

In a memo distributed to employees, Kutler described MSNBC as “one of the most-engaged brands in television,” claiming the news channel ended last year as “number one in cable news on both YouTube and TikTok.” It was not clear from her statement how she determined the network’s position on those platforms. The Fox News Channel has topped MSNBC and NBC News in recent months on YouTube, according to data from Emplifi.

Kutler affirmed that the network was ready to embrace “exciting times” ahead, but also warned that there would be challenges. Comcast is in the process of spinning of MSNBC and many of its other cable networks into a separate company, one that will be well-capitalized with around $7 billion in annual revenue, but which will also see MSNBC and financial news channel CNBC lose the resources of NBC News.

But MSNBC is also in the middle of a non-stop political news cycle fueled by various changes in the federal government effectuated by President Donald Trump in his first weeks in office. That momentum is likely to build over the next three and a half years — and, if the first Trump administration is anything to go by, it will be ratings gold for MSNBC and its rival cable news networks.
