These days it is really about the quality of the pastor running the show. Catholicism still has a lot of heresy injected into their flavor of Christianity because of the Rothschild's influence. If your pastor is making you read the Bible every day, then they're doing something right. If they don't and you only hear the Bible through their mouth, then that says a lot about the quality of the message.

On the agnostic part, one of the most important parts to remember about prayer is that God does not hear you if you have iniquity in your heart. Another is that you can ask Jesus forgiveness for anything at just about any time if you're sincere about it. If you aren't getting clear responses from Jesus what does that tell you?
