Says dehydration was to blame for collapse

JACKSON, Miss. —

Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann says he's "feeling fine" after he collapsed on the floor of the Mississippi Senate on Wednesday.

Hosemann released a statement Wednesday afternoon saying "Thank you all for the kind words and prayers. I was dehydrated and am feeling fine now. I am grateful for Mississippi’s phenomenal medical professionals and am ready to go back to work tomorrow. Lesson learned: Stay hydrated.”

A livestream from the Senate showed Hosemann standing at a podium and then falling over and to the ground. Several people ran to help Hosemann and someone could be heard calling for a nurse.
