The two nations will work side by side on missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond, Oleg Artemyev said after meeting India’s PM
India and Russia have been cooperating in space for six decades, and this collaboration will expand “on a wide front” to include lunar projects, Mars exploration, and initiatives related to automated space stations, Russia’s leading cosmonaut, Oleg Artemyev, told RT.
“Now we will work together in Earth orbit, then in lunar orbit, then at [a] lunar base on the visible side of the Moon, on the far side of the Moon, and then we will go to Mars and explore asteroids along the way,” he said in an exclusive talk with RT in the Indian capital.
Artemyev was in India to address the NXT Conclave and also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday on the sidelines of the event. “First, we greeted each other, and then I said that I was very happy to meet with a friend of President Vladimir Putin. I told him that this is a very good tradition that began more than 60 years ago,” he said.
According to Artemyev, Modi described Russia as a “friend” of India and committed to further cooperation between both countries. “I think that the relations between India and Russia, particularly between Modi and President Putin, allow us to think and dream,” the cosmonaut stated. Continue…
