Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the State Department has revoked the first visa for an alien cited for criminal behavior in connection with “Hamas-supporting disruptions.”
This marks the first such case since President Trump’s order to expel foreign Hamas supporters studying in the U.S. on student visas.

An “LGBTQ+” bar in one of Canada’s largest cities will soon allow kids inside as part of what it says is an expansion for the spring season.
Evolution Wonderlounge in Edmonton, Alberta, recently announced that it will invite people to “bring your kids til 9.” The club boasts that it’s the “only club serving the 2SLGBTQ+ community year-round.”
Wonderlounge’s announcement to allow children inside was made on Instagram and first reported by Juno News. However, the bar disabled comments, and it now appears the original post might have been taken down.
The Juno News report said the bar claimed that because restaurants that serve alcohol permits children, it sees no problem with its decision to let kids inside the establishment if they are with an adult.
Of note is that the bar is a member of the Alberta 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce, which in turn receives funding from the Canadian government through its 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurship program.
When it comes to the Conservative provincial government of Premier Danielle Smith, it has spent since 2021 over $26 million on the LGBTQ community for so-called equality, safety, and inclusivity programs.
The Edmonton bar’s decision to allow children inside comes at the same time the pro-LGBT lobby in both Alberta and Canada have been pushing their ideological agenda on Canadian families, sometimes in publicly funded spaces such as libraries.
As reported by LifeSiteNews, Canadian pastor Derek Reimer of Calgary, Alberta, was jailed for protesting “drag queen story hour” events marketed to children at public libraries in his city.
In 2023, Calgary passed a new so-called “Safe and Inclusive Access Bylaw” that disallows “specified protests” both inside and outside all city-owned and affiliated public buildings.
The bylaw means that anyone protesting pro-LGBT events at public buildings will be barred from getting within 100 meters of any such location.

During a press conference from the Oval Office on Friday afternoon, President Donald Trump threatened to place reciprocal taxes on Canadian dairy and lumber as soon as Friday.
Trump told reporters that Canada "is charging us over 200 percent for dairy products… When I left, we had that well taken care of. But under Biden, they just kept raising it." He said that it was a 250 percent tariff for dairy products shipped from the US.
"They made it impossible for us to sell lumber or dairy products into Canada, but our numbers are a tiny fraction of that, almost nonexistent," he said, later adding, "Canada has been ripping us off for years on tariffs for lumber and for dairy products. 250 percent, nobody ever talks about that, 250 percent tariff, which is taking advantage of our farmers."
"So that’s not going to happen anymore. We’re going to be—they’ll be met with the exact same tariff unless they drop it, and that’s what reciprocal means. And we may do it as early as today, or we'll wait til Monday or Tuesday, but that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to charge the same thing. It’s not fair, never has been fair, and they’ve treated our farmers badly."
This comes as Trump announced on Thursday that goods from Mexico and Canada covered under the USMCA Agreement will not have tariffs placed on them until April 2. That date is also the same day that reciprocal tariffs on other nations that place tariffs on American goods will go into effect. Ontario, in response to Trump's tariffs, will begin adding a 25% surcharge to Americans' electricity bills starting next week.

Peter Guthrie, UCP MLA for Airdrie-Cochrane and former Alberta infrastructure minister, has been barred from attending UCP caucus meetings for 30 days following his abrupt resignation from Premier Danielle Smith’s cabinet.
The decision, confirmed on Friday by CBC, places Guthrie in a probation period, though he retains his seat alongside UCP colleagues in the legislature.
Guthrie left his cabinet role on February 25, citing concerns over government procurement practices amid the escalating Alberta Health Services (AHS) scandal.
In his resignation letter posted to social media, he said, “In recent months, I have voiced concerns regarding the Government of Alberta’s procurement practices across all departments. Unfortunately, the majority of cabinet does not appear to share my concerns.”
He added, “For this reason, I have decided to step down and return to caucus as a private member, where I can continue to voice my concerns and hold cabinet accountable with honesty and integrity.”
The AHS controversy, involving allegations of inflated contracts and political interference, prompted Guthrie’s exit and has since sparked an RCMP investigation.
His resignation followed claims by former AHS CEO Athana Mentzelopoulos that she was fired for probing questionable contracts — an issue Guthrie hinted at in his departure.
“I’m not going to stand by and see potential corruption exists within government and be a part of that,” Guthrie said, quoted by the Globe and Mail.

During a question and answer session in Edmonton Friday, the Western Standard asked Alberta Premier Danielle Smith about the evolving Alberta Health Services (AHS) scandal, which now involves an RCMP investigation.
The scandal centres on allegations of political interference and corruption in the procurement practices of Alberta's health authority. The controversy emerged after former AHS CEO Athana Mentzelopoulos filed a $1.7-million wrongful dismissal lawsuit in February, claiming she was fired in January for investigating inflated contracts with private surgical providers and potential conflicts of interest.
Her lawsuit alleges pressure from high-level government officials to approve overpriced deals, sparking public and political outcry. On Thursday, RCMP confirmed they launched a formal investigation into the allegations following a complaint. Initially under review, the probe has now escalated, though specific details, including the complainant’s identity, remain undisclosed.
The Western Standard asked Smith, "Given the current situation and how the AHS (matter) has evolved over the last few days, now the RCMP are potentially involved. I'm wondering if you have any regrets in terms of how the situation evolved?"
"There's still something that we have to resolve, obviously, because AHS procurement was not very transparent, and so we've discovered that there are multiple different facilities providing the same service at different prices, and we want to get to the bottom of that," she said. "If there are any problems with procurement processes, we want to address them."
Smith continued, "I'll tell you what the main dispute is about. It's really about whether we should be having alternative service providers giving service to Albertans or not. Should we have a single monopoly managed by Alberta Health Services, where they have not only the power to deliver all services, but also contract to their competitors?"
Smith added, "And we made a policy decision in November of 2023 we're very transparent about it — that we were splitting those roles. That AHS is going to become a service provider. We are in the process of transferring over 700 facilities to Government of Alberta ownership and firmly cementing AHS as an operator."
Alberta’s auditor general is conducting an independent examination of AHS procurement practices, focusing on the claims of inflated contracts with private surgical providers, and others, as well as potential conflicts of interest.
Also, the province appointed an external third-party investigator to probe specific allegations.
Smith and her administration have committed to cooperating with the police probe into the alleged corruption and interference.
Court upholds Freedom Convoy lawsuit, protest organizers face $290M claim

The Ontario Court of Appeal ruled Thursday that a $290 million lawsuit filed by Ottawa residents against the Freedom Convoy organizers should proceed.
Blacklock's Reporter says the court rejected an attempt by protest leaders to dismiss the case, which alleges "public nuisance" and "psychological distress."
"Any determination on the merits patently will require a deep dive into the evidence and the making of extensive findings of credibility," wrote Justice David Brown.
The lawsuit, which has yet to be certified as a class action, will now move forward in the legal system.
Brown reflected on the broader implications of the case, questioning how political protests impact public spaces.
"How do we live together in a community? How do we share common space?" he wrote.
The court emphasized that while the Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects individual liberties and political expression, these freedoms must be balanced with their effects on the broader community.
The lead plaintiff, Zexi Li, a federal employee and downtown Ottawa resident, initially described being physically intimidated by demonstrators during the protest.
However, in 2022 testimony before the Public Order Emergency Commission, she stated, "I didn’t feel safe, but it’s hard to describe it as unsafe."
She also testified about being harassed for wearing a mask, recalling comments from protesters telling her to "smile more under my mask."
Some witnesses testified to feeling fear despite the protest remaining largely peaceful.
Nathalie Carrier, executive director of the Vanier Business Improvement Association, recounted a conversation with Ottawa’s police chief, who reportedly expressed concern about the protest escalating into an event similar to the January 6, 2021, riot in Washington, D.C.
"I remember the chief saying at one point, ‘You guys are scared, I get it, I’m scared too,’" testified Carrier.
"And I thought, if the Chief of Police is scared, something much bigger is happening here than a protest. That personally scared me, and I think a lot of us on that call were shaken."
In a related case, a federal judge ruled in 2024 that the government acted unlawfully when it invoked the Emergencies Act to end the protest.
Justice Richard Mosley stated that political demonstrations are "inherently disruptive" but noted that regulations imposed under the Act criminalized participation even in lawful activities.
His decision is currently under appeal.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet, on his last business day in office, has tacked on another 179 unique gun models to Canada’s list of prohibited firearms.
The Trudeau Liberals in December added 324 firearms to the list, provoking an outcry from firearms groups and even the Toronto Police Association. There are now more than 2,000 prohibited firearms on the government’s list of scary guns.
“Today our government is finishing the job,” said Trudeau’s official languages minister, Rachel Bendayan, at a press conference Friday morning.
Bendayan announced the new rules, proudly citing her “work of the last 11 weeks” to prepare the policy after she was appointed associate minister of public safety.
“This is also personal,” she said in her opening remarks, “as a mother, a lawyer, an elected official.”
“A further 179 unique makes and models of assault-style weapons [have been added] to the list of prohibited firearms here in Canada,” she said.
“This prohibition takes effect immediately.”
