Update(11:25ET): Prosecutors have revealed that police have raided nearly 50 addresses of people and associations connected with Romanian presidential front-runner Calin Georgescu, who has denied all wrongdoing and said state authorities are trying to block his candidacy.

Georgescu will reportedly be released from a hours-long detention by police for questioning. But emerging reports say he's been charged with 'attempted coup' and advancing 'false information'. Reuters has summarized the charges against him include forming an antisemitic organization, promoting war criminals and fascist organizations, and communicating false information.

A Romanian Court Press Release cites "attempted incitement against the constitutional order" (coup), "spreading false information," as well as "false statements on campaign funding," and links to "fascist, xenophobic, and antisemitic organizations."

Given how ambiguous and vague this laundry list of 'crimes' is, this does indeed look like a brazen persecution by the state for his political beliefs, also given he is widely labeled as 'pro-Russian'.

Mario Nawfal, who recently conducted an in-person interview with Georgescu, reports that he'll be released "under severe restrictions designed to silence him completely." The prosecutor's office has reportedly imposed the following restrictions on him and his campaign:

1) Barred from appearing on mass media

2) Forbidden from creating social media accounts

In the first year of COVID lockdowns Canada’s small-to-medium-sized businesses, many of which are family-run, lost a combined $60 billion in gross profit, according to recently released statistics.

On February 18 Statistics Canada released a report regarding “Borrowing, repayments and bankruptcies” from Ottawa’s Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) program, finding that businesses with less than $1.5 million in annual expenses “experienced a drop in gross profit, totaling a loss of nearly $60 billion” from 2019 to 2020.

The CEBA program was struck in March of 2020 to give out businesses affected by COVID lockdowns interest-free loans of up to $60,000. The loans came with strings attached, however, and had to be paid back by a certain date to only have to pay a partial amount back.

The report noted that the COVID lockdowns, which were imposed by all provincial governments as well as mandated by the federal government for the agencies it ran, from 2020 to most of 2021, were “most challenging for client-facing industries.” Continue…

An American Airlines flight from Boston aborted its landing at Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC, Tuesday to avoid a plane departing from the same runway.

“An air traffic controller instructed American Flight 2246 to perform a go-around at Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) Airport to ensure separation was maintained between this aircraft and a preceding departure from the same runway,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement.

American Airlines said the flight landed “safely and normally” and described the move as standard operation to give the plane more time for the other plane to take off.

“American has a no-fault go-around policy as a go-around is not an abnormal flight maneuver and can occur nearly every day in the National Airspace System,” the airline said in its statement.

“It’s a tool in both the pilot’s and air traffic controller’s toolbox to help maintain safe and efficient flight operations, and any assertion that flight 2246’s canceled approach was more than that is inaccurate,” the airline continued.

A Sudanese military plane has crashed in a neighborhood north of the capital, Khartoum, killing its crew, soldiers on board, and civilians, the war-torn African nation’s army reported late Tuesday.

The Antonov aircraft had taken off from Wadi Seidna military airport in Omdurman, located 22km (14 miles) north of Khartoum, when it crashed, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) said in a statement.

“We have recorded a number of martyrs and wounded among both military personnel and civilians. The injured have been treated, while fire crews have contained the fire at the crash site in the Al-Iskan area, Block 75,” it stated without specifying the number of casualties recorded.

On Wednesday, Reuters cited military and medical sources as saying that more than 20 people were killed in the incident. Major General Bahr Ahmed, a senior army commander in Khartoum, is reportedly among those who lost their lives.

At least five civilians on the ground were also killed and dozens were injured when debris from the plane struck residential areas, according to eyewitnesses quoted by the Sudan Tribune.

It had thus far been a boring night. After nearly ten years in power, every promise of future action, was a tacit admission of past failure.

Then 'this Chrystia Freeland person' said something about a 'new world order' that would organize everybody from Denmark to Japan to isolate the US, and she was saying her plans to ‘outwit’ Mr. Trump would mean working more closely with “our European NATO allies, and I would be sure that France and Britain were there to possess nuclear weapons.”

She really said this. Presumably she ran it past British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and French President Macron first… (Right?)
