It's not so much Nimrod, although it kind of is. It centers on Semiramis and her son Tammuz. However, Tammuz was supposedly Nimrod's son, but also Nimrod himself "reincarnated."
Essentially the first attempt by men to usurp God's position and replace Him with themselves.
