Almost Fired For Working With DOGE, Social Security Fraud Expert Now Leads The Agency.

Leland Dudek was an obscure bureaucrat at the Social Security Administration who dedicated his career to stopping fraud. But when he worked with the Department of Government Efficiency to do just that, he came close to being fired.

“At 4:30pm EST, my boss called me to tell me I had been placed on administrative leave pending an Investigation,” Dudek wrote on LinkedIn. “They want to fire me for cooperating with DOGE,” he wrote in a now-deleted post obtained by The Daily Wire.

Then, a stunning reversal occurred. It was Acting Social Security Commissioner Michelle King who was out of a job. And Dudek was reinstated with a big promotion — taking her job leading the massive agency on an interim basis.

The Washington Post reported that King exited the agency after refusing to let DOGE access agency data and was replaced by Dudek. But it has not been reported that managers at the agency had moved to punish Dudek as he cooperated with the efficiency czars.

The LinkedIn post said “I confess. I helped DOGE understand SSA. I mailed myself publicly accessible documents and explained them to DOGE. I confess. I moved contractor money around to add data science resources to my anti-fraud team. I confess. I asked where the fat was and is in our contracts so we can make the right tough choices.”

Pennsylvania Democrats Indicted on Charges of Changing Voter Information to Steal Election.

Federal prosecutors have indicted three Pennsylvania Democrats who are accused of changing voter registration information for dozens of people and fraudulently casting mail-in ballots in their names in a failed bid to steal elections.

The defendants, Md Nurul Hasan, Md Munsur Ali, and Md Rafikul Islam, conspired to help Hasan win the 2021 mayoral election as a write-in candidate in Millbourne Borough, a small municipality west of Philadelphia, according to the indictment filed on Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Delta releases new information about captain, first officer flying plane that crashed in Toronto.

The flight’s captain was hired in October 2007 by Mesaba Airlines and served as an active-duty captain and in pilot training and safety capacities, the airline said. Mesaba Airlines merged with Pinnacle Airlines in 2012, leading to the creation of Endeavor Air. Endeavor Air hired the first officer in January 2024, and she has been flying with the airline since she completed her training in April. According to Delta, her flight experience time exceeded minimum federal requirements

After the crash, Bastian said in an interview with "CBS Mornings" that,despite critics’ assertions, the Trump administration’s budget cuts did not have a negative impact on aviation safety.

"I understand that the cuts at this time are something that are raising questions, but the reality is there's over 50,000 people that work at the FAA. And the cuts, I understand, were 300 people, and they were in non-critical safety functions," Bastian said.

The federal government is examining whether UnitedHealthcare is using patient diagnoses to illegally increase the lump sum monthly payments received through the Medicare Advantage program, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

Although it is best known for its insurance operations, UnitedHealthcare is one of the largest corporations in the world with a $457bn market capitalization. Its businesses touch health technology, pharmacy benefits and physician practices.

The company is so large that one industry analyst estimated 5% of US gross domestic product flowed through its infrastructure each day. It is the largest employer of doctors in the US with more than 90,000 physicians in 2023, or nearly one in 10 American doctors.

According to the report, the justice department is now conducting a civil fraud investigation.

And it means, per the report, that viewers within a given locale who are able to watch games that are otherwise available on "free TV" will be able to stream games without paying for a streaming service.

Thanks to geolocation technology, it's easy to allow people in a certain area to have free access to the games, through their phones or smart TVs.

And while on one hand the move represents further progress in streaming, on the other hand it erodes the potency of broadcast TV. And it speaks to a future potential model, if/when the league fully pivots to streaming and cuts out the traditional networks.

In lieu of the games in a local market being available for free through the traditional airwaves captured by a television antenna, they'll be available for free on the apps corresponding with the content provider.
