ICE Director Out Amid Reports Trump Unhappy with Pace of Deportations

Acting ICE Director Caleb Vitello has been removed from his position amid reports President Trump is unhappy with the pace of deportations, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Earlier this month it was reported that President Trump and border czar Tom Homan were reportedly unhappy with the current number of deportations.

According to a report by NBC, Trump and Homan were disappointed with the pace of deportations so far and demanded that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ramp up their operations.

Caleb Vitello was reassigned to oversee all field and enforcement operations.

The Wall Street Journal reported:

The acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Caleb Vitello, was removed from his post, administration officials and other people familiar with the matter said, amid frustration in the Trump administration that deportations haven’t accelerated faster.

The administration is shaking up the leadership at ICE and is soon expected to announce a new acting director, one of the administration officials said. Another administration official said the team at ICE would be expanded.

A spokeswoman for DHS said in a statement that Vitello is “actually being elevated so he is no longer in an administrative role, but is overseeing all field and enforcement operations: finding, arresting, and deporting illegal aliens.”

Vitello will remain at ICE and will head the office responsible for arrests and deportations.

Earlier this month President Trump reassigned two senior ICE officials over the slow pace of deportations.

Reuters reported that the Trump Administration has deported nearly 40,000 illegal aliens since Inauguration Day.

Trump Admin Serious About Combatting Global Censorship

President Donald Trump is well known for his America First agenda. Some have interpreted this as an isolationist stance of retreat from the world stage. If anything, the first few weeks have shown an energetic engagement on foreign policy. America First hasn’t meant disengagement with the world. Rather, it has meant taking seriously American foundational principles and believing those are core values that other nations will look up to when demonstrated proudly.

One of those fundamental American principles is free speech, and the Trump administration is making sure that the world sees America vigorously fighting for it.

This new posture of strongly proclaiming the American value of free speech on the global stage had its biggest demonstration yet for the new administration last week. On Friday, Vice President J.D. Vance spoke at the Munich Security Conference. Rather than focusing on external global threats from Russia and China – as important and real as they are – Vance turned his attention to a major worrisome trend in Europe: the rise of aggressive censorship.

Vance lamented the “retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values, values shared with the United States of America.” For Americans, censorship is itself an attack on democracy. As the Vice President stated, “Dismissing people, dismissing their concerns, or worse yet, shutting down media, shutting down elections, or shutting people out of the political process protects nothing. In fact, it is the most surefire way to destroy democracy.” Free speech is not supposed to just be an American value but a universally shared fundamental right, protected in international treaties and charters enthusiastically signed onto by European allies.

Vance highlighted one example in particular of the attack on freedom of expression, that of British Army veteran and ADF International client Adam Smith-Connor. Smith-Connor was charged in November 2022 for violating a “buffer zone” outside an abortion clinic in the UK when he had silently prayed outside of it. This past October, Smith-Connor was criminally convicted for his three minutes of silent prayer. Smith-Connor’s appeal will be heard in July.

But that is just one example of what has become increasingly systematic attempts in Europe at ever larger scales to censor and control public discourse to exclude “wrong” opinions.

Other cases abound, like that of Päivi Räsänen, the Finnish member of Parliament who has been hounded on “hate speech” criminal charges now for almost four years and investigations for even longer because she posted a picture of a Bible verse on then-Twitter.

Pentagon Recognizes “Officially” That Israel Is a Nuclear Power. Declassified Document

The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA), an entity on contract to the US Department of Defense, has released a previously classified military document which confirms Israel’s nuclear weapons program.

This is considered to be a landmark decision, widely interpreted as constituting a semi-official recognition by the US Department of Defense that Israel is a bona fide nuclear power. While the document confirms what is already known regarding Israel’s nuclear arsenal, the political implications are potentially far-reaching, particularly in relation to the ongoing negotiations pertaining to Iran’s alleged nuclear program.”

Who threatens whom in the Middle East:

A de facto acknowledgement by the US that Israel is a nuclear power threatening the Middle East in contrast to Iran’s non-existent nuclear weapons program

Moreover, as detailed below, the IDA report tacitly portrays Israel’s nuclear weapons program as an extension of that of the United States.

This 386-page 1987 report entitled “Critical Technological Assessment in Israel and NATO nations” provides details regarding Israel’s weapons systems including the development of the hydrogen bomb.

Click here to access the 386-page 1987 report or click the image below.

While the report was written 28 years ago, it confirms Israel’s capabilities to develop nuclear weapons, with an explosive capacity equivalent to 1000 times (Hiroshima) atomic bomb:

that in the 1980s Israelis were reaching the ability to create bombs considered a thousand times more powerful than atom bombs.

The report also states that:

“[Israel is] developing the kind of codes which will enable them to make hydrogen bombs. [1980s] That is, codes which detail fission and fusion processes on a microscopic and macroscopic level.”

The report also notes that research laboratories in Israel “are equivalent to our Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore and Oak Ridge National Laboratories,” the key labs in developing America’s nuclear arsenal. (Quoted in Israel National News, March 25, 2015)

Israel’s nuclear infrastructure is “an almost exact parallel of the capability currently existing at our National Laboratories.”

The report intimates that Israel’s weapons industry including its nuclear program is essentially an extension of that of the US, developed with the active support and collaboration of US military research labs and US “defense contractors.”

Parents could see up to $12,000 child tax refund under new bipartisan House bill

Republicans and Democrats are teaming up to expand the child tax credit for parents

A bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced a bill that would give parents up to $6,000 per child in expanded tax credits.

It's part of a wider piece of legislation called the Affordable Childcare Act, led by Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., and Ryan Mackenzie, R-Pa., on the right and Sharice Davids, D-Kan., and Suzanne Bonamici, D-Ore., on the left.

Both the Republican and Democratic campaigns had called for an expanded child tax credit during the 2024 presidential race, where both sides attempted to make inroads with families struggling to afford care.

The current child tax credit levels give parents a refund of up to $2,000 for dependents under age 17. Adults with incomes that exceed $200,000 as a single filer or $400,000 for married couples can still be eligible for a partial credit.

The bipartisan bill would raise the maximum threshold to $6,000 for one dependent and $12,000 for two or more.

It would also double the tax credit for businesses that facilitate childcare for employees, raising the amount to $300,000 per year for qualifying workplaces.

Beheaded bodies of 70 people found in a Protestant church

Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - More than 70 bodies, including women, children and the elderly, were discovered on February 14 in a church of the Evangelical and Baptist Center of Congo and Africa (CEBCEA) in Kasanga, near the village of Maiba, in the Lubero area, in the province of North Kivu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to reports by Radio Okapi, local civil society believes that these are the bodies of missing people kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on February 12. The bodies of the people, beheaded with machetes, were found with their hands tied behind their backs.

It is suspected that Islamists of the ADF (Allied Democratic Forces), a group originally from Uganda that has been active for decades in the east of the DRC, especially in North Kivu, committed the massacre. In 2019, the ADF joined the Islamic State (for the birth and development of the militia, see Fides, 24/6/2023), which further strengthens its "jihadist" profile.

The Ugandan army has increased its presence in the Congolese provinces of Ituri and North Kivu in recent days, officially to act against the ADF, but perhaps also to control (or support?) the offensive of the M23 and the Rwandan army in the Congolese provinces of North and South Kivu. Trump’s DOJ targets voter fraud with 4 high-profile arrests in Connecticut.

In a swift move, the Department of Justice under President Trump has arrested four Connecticut Democratic officials for voter fraud and ballot stuffing. This development comes as part of a broader effort to address election integrity issues. The officials are facing charges related to mishandling absentee ballots during the 2019 Bridgeport mayoral primary.

The arrests were announced after video evidence surfaced showing the officials involved in the misconduct. The individuals charged include Bridgeport City Councilman Alfredo Castillo, vice chair of the city’s Democratic Party Wanda Geter-Pataky, and two campaign workers, Nilsa Heredia and Josephine Edmonds. They are accused of unlawful possession of absentee ballots and other election-related offenses.

Chief State’s Attorney Patrick J. Griffin emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the voting process and stated that these prosecutions should deter future tampering with election results. The arrests are seen as a significant step in ensuring fair elections and holding those responsible for misconduct accountable.

With the recent appointment of Patel, the Department of Justice is expected to move quickly in addressing similar cases. This move is anticipated to target other instances of election fraud and misconduct, starting with the most evident cases.
