One dead, one wounded in shooting at Kirtland AFB gate

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

A shooting early Saturday morning at an entrance to Kirtland Air Force Base killed one person and sent another to the University of New Mexico Hospital with a wounded hand, a KAFB news release said.

KAFB security personnel responded to the shooting around 2 a.m. at the Truman Gate to KAFB on Gibson Boulevard. Both shooting victims were Air Force members, the release said.

The wounded airman was treated and released. The other airman died at the scene, according to the release.
