How to archive YouTube and X video in 4k like a PRO

1. Download yt-dlp (better fork of youtube-download, support multiple video sites such as twitter, rumble, even some p0rn sites)

download "yt-dlp.exe"

it is frequently updated as youtube changes its code, download new version and overwrite old version when it breaks

1. Open windows command prompt

Start Run… (or press "Windows Key+R" to open the "Run" Window)

Enter "cmd" into the box then press then enter keys, this opens C:Windowssystem32cmd.exe

By default you'll be at your user directory, which contains the "Downloads" directory.

Enter "cd Downloads" in the command prompt and press enter to enter the download directory, this is likely where your yt-dlp.exe.

1. Download youtube video with yt-dlp

Download video with this command:

yt-dlp.exe -F https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Q1ufsBM14

To list all available resolutions and sound quality with the -F flag:

yt-dlp.exe -F https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Q1ufsBM14

Use the small f (-f) flag to control which format to download

yt-dlp.exe -f <video format number>+<audio format numberhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Q1ufsBM14

or

yt-dlp.exe -f best+best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Q1ufsBM14

Use -N flags to download in threads to speed up the download

yt-dlp.exe -N 16 to download in 16 threads if the video support chunks:

yt-dlp.exe -N 16 -f best+best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Q1ufsBM14

When you download video and audio separately, you'll need ffmpeg.exe in the same directory as yt-dlp to merge the video and audio files into one file (yt-dlp does it for you).

Get ffmpeg.exe from:

get the:

ffmpeg-master-latest-win64-gpl-shared.zip

after download, right click and extract the ffmpeg.exe from it, move it to the same directory yt-dlp is in

or just "-f best+best"
