Speaking at the ‘Ukraine. Year 2025’ forum in Kiev on Saturday, Zelensky claimed he didn’t intend to remain in power for many years.

“If peace for Ukraine, if you really need me to leave my post, then I’m ready. I can exchange this for NATO, if there are such conditions. I am focusing on the security of Ukraine today, not in 20 years, and I do not intend to be in power for decades,” Zelensky asserted.

Zelensky confirmed having received the proposed deal, introduced by Washington after the first draft was shot down by Kiev, involves a sum of $500 billion.

“It became clear that we are talking about a debt, that this is not an investment… If this money goes to the fund, and nothing comes from abroad, then we are paying off the debt,” Zelensky stated.

“We had 100 [billion]. I am not ready to pay off 500 [billion]. And I am not even ready to fix it at the 100 [billion mark], because I will not recognize grants as debts. We should not pay off the debt,” he added.

IDF strikes in Lebanon, says it targeted Hezbollah rocket launchers and weapons

Ceasefire agreement permits Israel to respond to ‘imminent threats’; strikes come as Lebanon prepares for mass funeral of Nasrallah in Beirut

Israel carried out a series of airstrikes in Lebanon on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces said, as the country prepared for the mass funeral of slain Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

According to Lebanese reports, the strikes occurred near the towns of Qlaileh and Zebqine, close to the coastal city of Tyre; near the village of Brissa in the Hermel District of northern Lebanon; near the town of Bodai in the Baalbek District; and near al-Ahmadiya in southern Lebanon.

The IDF later confirmed the strikes, saying they targeted Hezbollah sites containing rocket launchers and other weapons, and additional rocket launchers threatening Israeli civilians

The strikes were carried out after the military said it identified Hezbollah activity at the sites, which it said was a “violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, and is a threat to the State of Israel and its citizens.”

The strikes came ahead of the joint funeral for Nasrallah, who was eliminated by Israel in September, and his intended successor Hashem Safieddine, whom Israel killed in October.

IDF deploys tanks in West Bank for first time since 2002, sending 3 to Jenin as it expands op

Defense minister says he instructed army to stay ‘for coming year’ in West Bank refugee camps and not allow 40,000 displaced Palestinians home

Israeli tanks deployed to the West Bank on Sunday morning for the first time in over 20 years, as the Israel Defense Forces said it was expanding an ongoing counter-terrorism operation in the north of the territory.

Defense Minister Israel Katz, meanwhile, said he had instructed the IDF to stay for at least the next year in West Bank refugee camps that have been cleared of terror operatives and civilians, and not allow some 40,000 displaced Palestinians to return.

Palestinian media outlets published images showing three Merkava tanks near the West Bank city of Jenin.

The IDF confirmed the reports a short while later, saying that a platoon from the 188th Armored Brigade was preparing to operate in Jenin “as part of the offensive effort.” An Armored Corps platoon normally consists of two or three tanks.

It marked the first time since the 2002 Operation Defensive Shield that IDF tanks were operating in the West Bank.

A D.C. court has ordered prominent anti-Israel activists to pay a rabbi $182,000 for falsely accusing him in court of “stalking” after he prayed at the Israel embassy, which they staked out for months in a protest.

Hazami Barmada, who “held several high-level positions at the United Nations” and in 2023 “joined the faculty of George Washington University,” and Atefeh Rokhvand, founder of Teachers Against Genocide, abused the court system by seeking a restraining order against Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld, the Superior Court of the District of Columbia’s Domestic Violence Division ruled last week. The restraining order could have essentially prevented the rabbi from coming near the Israel embassy, because the pair was leading an around-the-clock protest there.

Video contradicted statements in the activists’ legal filings and showed that the rabbi had peacefully prayed at the embassy while Barmada mocked him through a megaphone, Judge John McCabe wrote last week in a previously unreported ruling. Far from being scared of the so-called stalker, Barmada ridiculed his presence at the embassy as “hilarious,” he found.

“There is no evidence that Respondent ever threatened the Petitioners. There is no evidence that he ever followed, monitored or placed them under surveillance. The only times he ever saw them was at the location of the protests on three occasions (only two with regard to Ms. Rokhvand). The evidence suggests that his presence on those occasions was not an attempt to locate Petitioners or any other particular individuals; he was going to the embassy to pray,” the ruling said.

After Hamas’ October 7, 2023 terror attack, Barmada and Rokhvand led virtually permanent protests at Israel’s embassy in Washington and outside the home of former Secretary of State Antony Blinken. “Hazami Barmada is 40 years old. She received an MPA degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School and has worked at the Aspen Institute,” the ruling said. “She stated that she sometimes protested at the home of (now former) U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in northern Virginia, at times throwing fake blood in the direction of motor vehicles entering or exiting his home.”

Israel won't allow HTS forces in southern Syria, Netanyahu says

"We demand full demilitarization of southern Syria, in the provinces of Quneitra, Daraa, and Sweida," Netanyahu said at a military graduation ceremony.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday demanded that southern Syria be demilitarized, saying Israel will not accept the presence of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in southern Syria, nor of any other forces affiliated with the country's new regime.

HTS took control of Damascus over December 7-8 ending around fifty years of rule by the Assad family, leading Netanyahu to order the IDF to enter and create a buffer zone in southern Syria.

The prime minister stated that Israel would maintain the buffer zone as long as necessary, while in the past he has said until the end of 2025, and other defense sources have said Israel could remain there for years.

Demand of full demilitarization of southern Syria

"We will not allow forces of the HTS or the new Syrian army to enter the territory south of Damascus. We demand full demilitarization of southern Syria, in the provinces of Quneitra, Daraa, and Sweida," Netanyahu said at the same officers’ ceremony with Katz.

“And we will not tolerate any threat to the Druze sect in southern Syria," he added.

Syria’s new ruler, Ahmer al-Sharaa, has committed multiple times to the 1974 Israel-Syria armistice while also demanding the IDF withdraw from Syria.

To date, there are signs that the EU may also pressure Israel to withdraw, but the Trump administration so far has given complete backing to Israel’s presence there.

Virtually all democratic countries are still waiting to see whether al-Sharaa will integrate more with the West and run his country democratically or whether he will lapse back into his habits from his background originally as a member of al-Qaeda.

On the night of February 23rd, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted another wave of strikes in the Russian rear regions. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in total 20 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed by air defense forces during the night, 10 more Ukrainian drones were destroyed in the morning. Ukrainian UAVs targeted the rear regions of Oryol, Lipetsk, Tula, Voronezh, some of them were intercepted in the border Belgorod and Kursk regions. No local sources reported any damage as a result of the attack.

In their turn, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation do not stop daily massive strikes on targets throughout Ukraine. Last night was not an exception. Accroding to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in total, 267 Russian drones and three ballistic missiles targeted Ukrainian territory during the night. This is almost twice more than the numbers provided by the Ukrainian military in recent days. The air defense forces of Ukraine allegedly destroyed 138 UAVs, 119 drones miraculously disappeared. The official reports of the Ukrainian military are again refuted by the damage confirmed in different regions.

The Ukrainian military confirmed some damage in the Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Poltava, Kiev and Zaporozhie regions, providing more details. In fact, Russian strikes destroyed targets in more areas across the country. Russian strikes were recorded in the following regions:
