Federal technology staffers resign rather than help Musk and DOGE

Twenty-one civil service employees have resigned from billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, saying they're refusing to use their technical expertise to “dismantle critical public services.”

(That’s probably a very good thing!)1/2

Confusion over Musk’s ultimatum to federal workersThe Trump administration has told federal agencies they don't have to direct workers to comply with Elon Musk's request for information about their work activities. The Associated Press

WASHINGTON – More than 20 civil service employees resigned Tuesday from billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, sayingthey were refusing to use their technical expertise to “dismantle critical public services.”(tracking software I assume)

“We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations,” the 21 staffers wrote in a joint resignation letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press. “However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments.”

The employees also warned that many of those enlisted by Musk to help him slash the size of the federal government under President Donald Trump's administrationwere political ideologues who did not have the necessary skills or experience for the task ahead of them.(tech people political ideologues?)

The mass resignation of engineers, data scientists and product managers is a temporary setbackfor Musk and the Republican president's tech-driven purge of the federal workforce. It comes amid a flurry of court challenges that have sought to stall, stop or unwind their efforts to fire or coerce thousands of government workers out of jobs.

In a statement, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was dismissive of the mass resignation.

“Anyone who thinks protests, lawsuits, and lawfare will deter President Trump must have been sleeping under a rock for the past several years," Leavitt said. "President Trump will not be deterred from delivering on the promises he made to make our federal government more efficient and more accountable to the hardworking American taxpayers.”

The staffers who resigned worked for what was once known as the United States Digital Service, an office established during President Barack Obama's administration after the botched rollout of Healthcare.gov, the web portal that millions of Americans use to sign up for insurance plans through the Democrat's signature health care law. (Oh they do didn’t have tech skills for DOGE, that website still sucks!)

All had previously held senior roles at such tech companies as Google and Amazon and wrote in their resignation letter that they joined the government out of a sense of duty to public service. (If the believed that, why didn’t the stay as a sense of duty and public service?)

Trump's empowerment of Musk upended that. The day after Trump's inauguration, the staffers wrote, they were called into a series of interviews that foreshadowed the secretive and disruptive work of Musk's' Departmentof Government Efficiency, or DOGE.

According to the staffers, people wearing White House visitors' badges, some of whom would not give their names, grilled the nonpartisan employees(?) about their qualifications and politics. Some made statements that indicated they had a limited technical understanding. Many were young and seemed guided by ideology and fandom of Musk — not improving government technology.

“Several of these interviewers refused to identify themselves, asked questions about political loyalty, attempted to pit colleagues against each other, and demonstrated limited technical ability,” the staffers wrote in their letter. “This process created significant security risks.” (Such BS)

2/2KEK pathetic article…

Earlier this month, about 40 staffers in the office were laid off.The firings dealt a devastating blow to the government's ability to administer and safeguard its own technological footprint, they wrote. (==Gov websites in all websites have been hacked multiple times a year including the military, in the last 4-5 years. Even the President’s office, how did they safeguard anything!)

“These highly skilled civil servants were working to modernize Social Security, veterans’ services, tax filing, health care, disaster relief, student aid, and other critical services,” (how many years, what kind of progress, this is BS) the resignation letter states. “Their removal endangers millions of Americans who rely on these services every day. The sudden loss of their technology expertise makes critical systems and American’s data less safe.”

Those who remained, about 65 staffers, were integrated into DOGE's government-slashing effort. About a third of them quit Tuesday.

"We will not use our skills as technologists to compromise core government systems, jeopardize Americans’ sensitive data, or dismantle critical public services," they wrote. “We will not lend our expertise to carry out or legitimize DOGE’s actions.” (Ok so these people want to country fail and burn because we are bankrupt, so definitely not try to help us survive.)

The slash-and-burn effort Musk is leading diverges from what was initially outlined by Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign. DOGE, a nod to Musk's favorite cryptocurrency meme coin, was initially presented as a blue-ribbon commission that would exist outside government.

After the election, however, Musk hinted there was more to come, posting to his social media site, X,“Threat to democracy? Nope, threat to BUREAUCRACY!!!” He has leaned aggressively into the role since.

Last week he stood on stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference gathering outside Washington, where he boasted of his exploits and hoisted a blinged-out,Chinese-made chainsawabove his head??? that was gifted by Argentinian President Javier Milei.

"This is the chainsaw for bureaucracy,” Musk bellowed from the stage.

Still, Musk has tried to keep technical talent in place, with the bulk of the layoffs in (the buried the lede)the Digital Service office focused on people in roles like designers, product managers, human resources and contracting staff, according to interviews with current and former staff. (So they were not technologists them)

Of the 40 people let go earlier this month, only one was an engineer— an outspoken and politically active staffer name Jonathan Kamens, who said in an interview with the AP that he believes he was fired for publicly endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, on his personal blog and being critical of Musk in chats with colleagues.

"I believe that Elon Musk is up to no good. And I believe that any data that he gains access to is going to be used for purposes that are inappropriate and harmful to Americans," Kamens said.

U.S. Digital Service veterans, who spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear of reprisal, recalled experiencing a similar sort of shock about how government processesworked that Musk and his team are discovering. Over time, many developed an appreciation for why certain things in government had to be treated with more care than in the private sector.

“‘Move fast and break things’ may be acceptable to someone who owns a business and owns the risk. And if things don’t go well, the damage is compartmentalized. But when you break things in government, you’re breaking things that belong to people who didn’t sign up for that,” said Cordell Schachter, who until last month was the chief information officer at the U.S. Department of Transportation.

USDS was established over a decade ago to do things like improving services for veterans, and it helped create a free government-run portal so tax filers did not have to go through third parties like TurboTax. It also devised systems to improve the way the federal government purchased technology. (These people were low level website admins)

It has been embroiled in its fair share of bureaucracy fights and agency turf wars with chief information officers across government who resented interlopers treading in their agency’s systems. USDS’ power across government stemmed from the imprimatur of acting on behalf of the White House and its founding mission of improving service for the American people.(KEK they refused to work for the WH or American peopleThe arrogance they have with little technical skill sets is bizarre)

Was Gold the Name of God in very early history?

How Many Times Is Gold Mentioned in The Bible?

How Many Times Is Gold Mentioned in The Bible? (What does the Bible say about Gold?)

by Joseph M. Jordan

As a young teen, I decided to try and study the Bible cover to cover, and one of my church tutors casually mentioned to me that Gold was one of those things mentioned liberally in the Bible. It is mentioned in the first book of the Bible and appears in the last book of the same. Gold holds a lot of significance in Bible teachings, which is why it is mentioned by many critical people in numerous stories. So, how many times is Gold mentioned in the Bible?

Gold is mentioned 417 times in different accounts in the Bible. It is recorded 361 times in the Old Testament and 26 times in the New Testament.

In this article, we are going to delve into the mentions of Gold in the Bible as well as the significance it holds in various accounts.

Join me as I try to find answers to such questions as how Gold was used in the Bible, how much it was worth in Biblical times, the meaning of Gold in Hebrew, and others.

What the Bible Says About Gold

As said, Gold is mentioned a good deal of times in the Bible, meaning that it bore, and still continues to bear, a lot of significance. During the times around which the Bible is set, Gold was associated with God’s blessings and favor. It was believed that if any person received Gold from God, He was expressing His desire to bless, protect, and prosper the individual. For this reason, they would be regarded as highly favored by God.

Apart from symbolizing blessings and favor from God, Gold was also seen as a thing of beauty and value. Being that it was created by God, it was considered highly valuable, beautiful, and a commodity to be held in high regard. For instance, Genesis 2:12 suggests that the Gold in the land which God had created was good and that aromatic resin and onyx could also be found there.

Bible Verses About Gold

Below are a few verses related to Gold from the Bible;

Exodus 28:11 – In this verse, God instructs Moses to have the names of the sons of Israel engraved on two stones in the same way a gem cutter would engrave a seal. He also tells Moses to mount the two stones in gold filigree settings.

Exodus 37:4, Exodus 37:6-7– These three verses describe in detail how Gold was used in making the Ark of the Covenant. It had two acacia wood poles that were overlaid with pure Gold, its atonement was made of Gold, and it also had two cherubim made of hammered Gold.

Matthew 2:11 – Here, the wise men arrive in Bethlehem to visit and pay tribute to baby Jesus. They bring with them gifts which include Gold, frankincense, and myrrh. It is considered the highest honor when a person was gifted Gold in Biblical times.

Matthew 23:16-17 – In this verse, Jesus addresses the Pharisees and rebukes them for placing more value on the Gold in the temple than the temple itself.

1 Peter 1:7 – Here, Peter suggests that true and genuine faith is worth more than pure Gold.

How much was Gold worth in Biblical times?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to declare how much Gold was valued during Biblical times. However, because of its rarity and association with blessings, favor, wealth, and royalty, it was considered the most valuable currency of trade at the time. Only royals and extremely wealthy people had Gold with them.

In addition, Gold was considered one of the purest things found in nature, and acquiring it meant going to great lengths.

The meaning of Gold in Hebrew

In the Hebrew language, Gold is referred to as zahav. It is pronounced zaw-hawv. It is believed that the word was coined from the phrase ‘zayin-hey,’ which can be lonely translated to mean ‘this.’ It is said that Gold was given this name because it is shiny and sparkly and draws attention to itself, hence the name.

It is also believed that the word zahav came from ‘zayin-bet,’ which means ‘flow’ because, as Gold is purified, it tends to melt away from impurities easily.

How was Gold used in the Bible?

To make sacred objects – Gold was used to make objects that were used in the temple, such as chalices. It was also used in the construction of monumental things like The Arc of The Covenant.

To make payments – It was considered a form of high-value currency for large transactions among the wealthy.

For adornment – The wealthy wore jewelry made from pure Gold. (ORIGEN condemned jewelry)
