I think people can depict things how they want but there was a few religions that did not focus on image even which get to the true concept and nature of God.
This you wonder was something of a thing more then people realize. Often Kings tried to make themselves into the images of God so on gods so on… to be like in this way… seem like this…
So it is the intent and how it is being used not the image itself
