GenX story for you.
When we were about 12/13 years old, we use to play in the "crushers".
The crushers were a municipal garbage crushing facility. Garbage
trucks would pull up, dump their load, and leave to pick up more
garbage. There were three crushers so three trucks could dump
simultaneously. The crushers were essentially a giant steel and
concrete pit that would compress garbage for a removal truck to
then take away. Well, we use to play in the crushers. We'd hang
out there for hours in the smelly, filthy pit, jumping over the
pits, climbing up the sides, etc. When we did this, a cop would
usually show up because we were trespassing. This is when things
got fun. The crushers were at the top of a hill and the cop would
park his car at the bottom thinking he could trap us at the gate
because the area was fenced in. One of us would turn over a 50
gallon drum and jump inside and roll down the hill, while another
would jump in a dumpster while another manned it. When the 50
gallon drum started rolling, the dumpster guy would yell and with
full speed start pushing the dumpster down hill alongside the 50
gallon drum towards the cop car. The drum and the dumpster would
crash into the side of the cop car at full velocity, some fat asshole
cop would get out and start yelling and screaming. We jumped out
of our metal war equipment and would scream "FUCK YOU!!!" and start
running knowing that fat asshole could never catch us. He jumped
in his car and started chasing us, so we would then break up and
run into different backyards, hopping fences, breaking windows as
we went along and laughing our asses off sometimes while recording
it all on a boom box. This is what we did back in the day for fun
when we were bored.
We were kids and this was American life for us.
