President Trump: Tomorrow the progress toward peace will continue, when President Zelenskyy visits the White House…we'll be signing a historic agreement that will make the United States a major partner in developing Ukraine's minerals and rare-Earths, and oil and gas.
Prime Minister Starmer: I am working closely with other European leaders with this ['peacekeeping'], but I am clear that the UK is ready to put boots on the ground and planes in the air to support a deal, working together with our allies, because that is the only way that peace will last.
President Trump: I think we're going to have a very successful peace [Russia/Ukraine], and I think it's gonna be a long-lasting peace. And I think it's gonna happen, hopefully, quickly. If it doesn't happen quickly, it may not happen at all.
Reporter: Mr. President, did our prime minister persuade you not to put tariffs on the UK?
President Trump: He tried. [laughter in room] He was working hard, I'll tell you that. He earned whatever the hell they pay him over there. I think there's a very good chance that in the case of these two, great, friendly countries, we could very well end up with a real trade deal where the tariffs won't be necessary.
