I’ve spent years at sea.
Depending on how much wind we had we’d shred a Flag near every trip.
Each and every torn/worn Flag is brought to the VFW for proper disposal by Vets.
One guy, after being warned once for letting it hit the deck was fired after placing it on the hatch cover where a basket of fish had been sitting moments before.
Unfortunately the picture I’m showing you of the Pocahontas out of Maine does is not flying the flag but it is the Harvey Gamage style Eastern Rig of which so many of us spent years offshore toiling on.
I’d have to dig through albums to find a proper pic.
You get the idea.
