In reality, your hand should be below the Bible to not overshadow it and to support it. So he didn't want to give mixed messages of putting his hand underneath as that would have caused controversy. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus advises against swearing oaths, stating, "But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King" (Matthew 5:34-35)
He is a Real Christian with understanding.
