Remember this, Trump wanted to cancel Zelensky’s visit and Macron convinced Trump to see him. I think Macron intentionally set this up to try and humiliate Trump. I think Trump is thinking the same thing. That will be the last time he trusts even a little, Macron after this.

‘Wrong president to try this with’: Michael Waltz on Zelenskyy exchange

Waltz explains what really happened.

National security advisor Michael Waltz discusses telling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to leave the White House, after his tense exchange with President Donald Trump

Top US official suggests Zelensky may need to go

(That’s why Zelenskyy did it, he knows he’s been caught, because he already sold the land. If it was a set up, it was Zelensky that did it on purpose.)

National Security Advisor Mike Waltz says Washington wants to see a leader in Kiev who can “deal with the Russians and end this war”

Washington is unsure whether Vladimir Zelensky is the right man to lead Ukraine at this juncture, the US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz has told CNN. The official argued that Friday’s tumultuous spat between the Ukrainian leader, President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance indicated thatZelensky may not be ready to talk peace.

When asked by Dana Bash on Sunday to share his view of Zelensky, Waltz said that “it’s unclear whether President Zelensky, particularly after what we saw on Friday, is ready to transition Ukraine to an end to this war, and to negotiate and have to compromise.” He noted that it is President Trump’s convictionthat both Kiev and Moscow would have to make concessions in order to stop the bloodshed.

According to the national security advisor, during the US president’s meeting with Zelensky on Friday, “it did not appear to us that [he] was ready to go to peace.”

When pressed by a CNN presenter as to whether the White House wanted Zelensky to step down, Waltz clarifiedthat “we need a leader that can deal with us, eventually deal with the Russians, and end this war.”

The official added that “if it becomes apparent that PresidentZelensky’s either personal motivations or political motivations are divergent from ending the fighting in his country, then I think we have a real issue on our hands.”

In an interview with Breitbart Radio on Saturday,Waltz compared Zelensky to an “ex-girlfriendthat wants to argue everything that you said nine years ago, rather than moving the relationship forward.” KEK

Speaking with ABC news on Sunday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that he had not “had any contact with [Zelesnky] since Friday.” The diplomat stressed that the Trump administration’s goal is to bring Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table, with the US head of state being the “only person on Earth who has any chance whatsoever” of accomplishing this.

“Don’t do anything to disrupt that, and that’s what Zelensky did unfortunately –he found every opportunity to try to Ukraine-splainon every issue,” Rubio stated, recounting Friday’s shouting match at the White House.

Commenting on Zelensky’s demeanor at the White House on Friday, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham told Fox News later that day that his altercation with Trump and Vance represented a “missed opportunity.” Addressing the Ukrainian people, the lawmaker added, “I don’t know if Zelensky can ever get you to where you want to go with the United States. Either he dramatically changes or you need to get somebody new.”

The senator, who hailed Zelensky as the “ally I’ve been hoping for all my life” during the Munich Security Conference earlier this month, wrote in a post on X on Saturday that theUkrainian leader’s “behavior was beyond unacceptable and [his] lectures are wearing thin.” Graham also lauded President Trump for standing up to him in defense of American interests. (You are next Graham, since you promoted this.)

Zelensky was expected to finalize an agreement granting the US rights to his country’s natural resources on Friday. However, the meeting ended up in a heated exchange, with the Ukrainian leader’s stay at the White House cut short and the accord left unsigned.

During the encounter, the US president accused his visitor of failure to show gratitude, insisting that Kiev does not “have the cards,” and would have lost to Russia if not for generous US assistance, with Vance making similar charges.

Commenting on the altercation on his Truth Social platform, Trump concluded that theUkrainian leader had demonstrated that he “is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.”

We won’t give Kiev money until Zelensky seeks peace – US official

Trump made clear that Ukraine’s military funding is tied to its willingness to engage in talks, his commerce secretary has said

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky was given a clear message during his meeting with US President Donald Trump on Friday, that further financial support hinges on Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate peace, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has said. His comments follow Zelensky’s heated confrontation with Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.

Zelensky visited the White House on Friday, intending to finalize a minerals agreement. However, the discussion deteriorated when he insisted that Trump back Kiev rather than act as a neutral mediator in talks with Moscow. In response, Trump and Vance accused Zelensky of “gambling with World War III” and showing reluctance to pursue peace with Russia, portraying him as ungrateful despite the billions in US military assistance.

In a Sunday Fox News interview, Lutnick stressed that US president made clear he “just wants to make peace.” However, he said that Zelensky did not come for that, and made “ridiculous” requests to Trump and Vance.

“Zelensky needed to hear it directly from the funding mouth of the United States of America:We’re not going to give you money unless you’re here for peace,” Lutnick stressed.

He added that Trump had tried to reason with Zelensky, stressing that the Ukrainian leader can’t say “[Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s a terrorist and then call the guy up and try to make peace with him.”

During the Friday meeting, Zelensky insisted on US security guarantees while fighting is still ongoing with Moscow. Trump dismissed these requests as “ridiculous.” The confrontation ultimately led to Trump cutting the meeting short.

Not only did the visit conclude abruptly without signing the minerals agreement, but it also raised concerns about the future of US military assistance to Ukraine. According to The Washington Post, theTrump administration is now reconsidering its financial and military commitments to Kiev.

US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz also hinted at a possible shift in Washington’s stance, suggesting that Zelensky may need to step aside if he refuses to pursue a diplomatic solution. Speaking to CNN, Waltz stated, “it’s unclear whether President Zelensky, particularly after what we saw on Friday, is ready to transition Ukraine to an end to this war and negotiate a compromise.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that while Washington seeks peace for Ukraine, some European allies seem to prefer prolonging the conflict to further weaken Russia.

As of January 2025, the US had provided $65.9 billion in military assistance to Ukraine since February 2022.

Kiev politicians salute Zelensky’s White House blunder

Ukrainian reactions run contrary to those of US officials as Secretary of State Rubio has described Zelensky’s trip as a “fiasco”

Politicians in Kiev have rallied behind Vladimir Zelensky after his public spat with Donald Trump, praising the Ukrainian leader’s “bravery and strength” in standing up to the US president. (They seem to be barbarians, and that behavior is acceptable.)

Zelensky’s visit to the White House on Friday was abruptly cut short after his meeting with the US president and vice president devolved into a heated argument in front of the media. Trump and J.D. Vance accused their guest of “gambling with World War III” due to his reluctance to negotiate peace with Russia, and of being disrespectful and ungrateful for the substantial military aid provided to Kiev by Washington.

During the shouting match, Zelensky again ruled out the possibility of talks with Moscow, demanded security guarantees from the US, refused to acknowledge that Kiev’s forces are experiencing manpower shortages and implied that Vance could not have known anything about Ukraine’s problems due to not having been to the country.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described Zelensky’s trip to Washington as a “fiasco,”while Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that “with his outrageously boorish behavior” the Ukrainian leader confirmed that he is “a most dangerous threat to the international community.”

Officials in Kiev, however, saw the Oval Office meeting in a completely different light. Zelensky’s Chief of Staff Andrey Yermak posted on X on Friday that the Ukrainian leader “is fighting for our country, for everyone who stands for a just and lasting peace.” Yermak insisted that he would support his boss “in every situation.”

On the same day, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga complimented Zelensky for having “the bravery and strength to stand up for what is right” during the exchange in the Oval Office.

The Ukrainian leader’s top aide Mikhail Podoliak wrote on X on Saturday that Zelensky’s stance is “impeccable, well-argued and absolutely correct.” Podoliak also stressed that “emotions are emotions, but the facts are quite concrete… Just like reputations.”

Zelensky “is a rock, and few leaders in the world can match his fortitude. And he really wants to put an end to this war, not a comma, which might seem like a good option to some,” David Arakhamia, who heads the ruling Servant of the People party in the Ukrainian parliament, said as cited by Deutsche Welle.

Ukraine’s top general, Aleksandr Syrsky, also supported Zelensky after his argument with Trump, writing on Telegram that “the Armed Forces are with Ukraine, with the people, with the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Our strength is in unity.”

In its article on Saturday, Time magazine cited an unnamed colonel of the Ukrainian military, who said “well done” of Zelensky’s attempts to resist Trump. “You have to respect that… But now we are f****ed,” he added.(The most honest comment. Kek)

Germany’s Bundesbank posts biggest loss in its history

The country’s central bank has announced that its reserves have been completely depleted following a staggering $20 billion loss in 2024

The German central bank has reported thelargest financial loss since its establishment in 1957, attributing the record $20 billion deficit to soaring interest rates in the EU.

The European Central Bank (ECB) began its most aggressive rate-hiking cycle in July 2022, after Ukraine-related sanctions imposed on Russia sent gas prices skyrocketing and undermined most of the trade between Moscow and the bloc. The measures were designed to combat soaring inflation driven by runaway energy, fertiliser and grain prices.

A Bundesbank statement on Tuesday confirmed that its balance sheet forthe past year reflects a deficit of €19.2 billion ($20.10 billion).Although the bank had warned of deficits for some time to come, the current loss has wiped out its reserves, meaning it won't be able to pay dividends to the German government.

“We expect not to be able to distribute profits for a long time,” Bild has quoted Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel as saying.

Deficits are expected to persist in the coming years, though the Bundesbank anticipates that losses will be lower than in 2024.

The development comes as the EU’s top economy suffers from a stubborn downturn. In 2024, the German economy contracted for a second straight year for the first time in more than two decades.

Official figures released last month showed that gross domestic product fell by 0.2% last year after dropping by 0.3% in 2023.

The Eurozone’s largest economy has been falling behind its peers in recent years, largely due to a prolonged manufacturing downturn. The country’s shift from affordable Russian gas to more expensive liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US has driven up energy costs, severely affecting manufacturers and small businesses.
