Relative of Minnesota Sen. Bobby Joe Champion pleads guilty in $6 million pandemic aid fraud scheme.

Champion pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud, one count of money laundering, and one count of illegally possessing a firearm as a felon.

A Minneapolis non-profit executive and business consultant pleaded guilty in federal court to leading a scheme to defraud a number of federal, state, local, private programs and other sources of funding, resulting in a loss of over $6 million, and also to illegally possessing a firearm as a felon, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa Kirkpatrick.

Tezzaree El-Amin Champion, 28, is a nephew of Minnesota DFL Sen. Bobby Joe Champion, engaged in a fraud scheme from 2020 until 2024 through two Minneapolis-based entities he founded and controlled: a marketing company he owned, Futuristic Management LLC, and a non-profit organization he led, Encouraging Leaders, according to court documents.

South Carolina governor declares state of emergency as raging wildfires prompt mass evacuations.

A mass of wildfires burning across South Carolina prompted Gov. Henry McMaster to declare a state of emergency Sunday, as firefighters battled a series of blazes that have already consumed approximately 1,200 acres and impacted another 3,000.

Video circulating on social media showed an orange sky as one blaze burned in the neighborhood of Carolina Forest in the Myrtle Beach area. Another video showed smoke and debris in the air as a fire burned in a backyard in nearby Red Hill.

Dems led Zelensky, Ukraine off a cliff with pressure to reject mineral deal.

Before meeting Trump, Zelensky met with anti-Trump Democrats who advised him to reject the terms of the mineral deal the president was offering, according to Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.).

The meeting, as the world now knows, quickly went off the rails and ended with Trump angrily ejecting the arrogant ingrate from the White House.

The earlier meeting with Dems undercuts wild claims that Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance staged an ambush. In fact, it was Zelensky who came with an ulterior motive and advice from Democrats.
