According to an internal email obtained by The Gateway Pundit, rank-and-file officers in the Orange County Sheriff’s Office were ordered to “stand down” when encountering an illegal immigrant. The directive explicitly stated, “Any ICE/Immigration-related calls must be cleared through the chain of command,” effectively requiring officers to obtain prior approval before detaining illegal immigrants. This policy not only complicates their ability to enforce the law but also forces them to comply with an unlawful directive.

Florida has established itself as a national leader in strict immigration enforcement, banning sanctuary cities and requiring local cooperation with ICE. However, defiant local officials like Orange County Sheriff John Mina have directly challenged these policies, setting the stage for an ongoing power struggle between state and municipal governance.

Governor DeSantis has emphasized that refusing to enforce immigration laws undermines public safety. His administration has passed measures ensuring local law enforcement agencies notify ICE when illegal immigrants are detained.

Israel Preparing ‘Hell Plan’ for Gaza That Would Cut Electricity and Water

Israel is also preparing for the full-scale resumption of its genocidal war within 10 days if Hamas doesn't accept its terms

The Israeli government is preparing a “hell plan” for the Gaza Strip that would involve cutting all electricity and water to the territory on top of the blocking of food, fuel, and all other goods that was announced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli broadcaster Kan has reported.

According to The Guardian, the Kan report said that the “hell plan” would also involve forcing Palestinians in northern Gaza to move to the south to prepare for a resumption of the bombing campaign. Other Israeli media reports say Israel is preparing for a full-scale resumption of its genocidal war if Hamas doesn’t accept Israel’s terms.

After refusing to engage in talks on the second phase, Israel is trying to get Hamas to agree to an extension of the first phase ceasefire for another 42 days and release more hostages without an Israeli withdrawal, a proposal Israel says was put forward by President Trump’s Middle East Envoy, Steve Witkoff.

Israel has received widespread condemnation for blocking all aid shipments into Gaza and collectively punishing the civilian population amid the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, but the US has expressed support for the war crime and signed off on billions in new military aid ahead of Netanyahu’s announcement.

On Monday, Netanyahu warned things could get worse in Gaza, threatening that if Hamas doesn’t release Israeli hostages, there would be consequences “that you cannot imagine.” An analysis from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz acknowledged that Hamas was unlikely to agree to release more hostages without a long-term peace plan since the captives are the group’s only leverage over Israel.

Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since the truce went into effect on January 19, killing over 100 Palestinians in Gaza since then. Israel’s restrictions on aid before imposing the total siege and its refusal to engage in talks on phase two were also violations of the agreement. On Monday, at least two more Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the southern city of Rafah.

61 Palestinian Detainees Died in Israeli Captivity Since Oct 7

The death toll for Palestinians in Israeli detention continues to rise. Three captives have died in the past week.

According to the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, Khaled Mahmoud Qasim Abdullah died in Israel’s Megiddo Prison on February 23. A total of three Palestinians died that week.

The Israeli outlet Haaretz has previously documented horrific abuse at the facility. “Detainees and prisoners at Megiddo Prison in northern Israel have reported several cases of harsh violence and abuse carried out by prison wardens,” the outlet explained. The torture included “guards kicking, punching, hitting their testicles, and humiliating prisoners. Some testified that a prisoner who was beaten died of his injuries.”

The death toll for Palestinians in Israeli detention has soared to 61 since Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack, the deadliest period in the history of the Israeli occupation.

Throughout the conflict, Tel Aviv has sent tens of thousands of Palestinians into a series of prisons, where the detainees show signs of torture. Under the ceasefire and hostage exchange, several released Palestinians who were released from Israeli prisons have reported being beaten and tortured.

Many Palestinians held by the Israelis are medical workers who were desperately trying to provide emergency care in Gaza. Last year, speaking with the BBC, three Palestinian medics said “they were humiliated, beaten, doused with cold water, and forced to kneel in uncomfortable positions for hours,” also noting they were “detained for days before being released.”

Additionally, the UN’s Palestinian aid agency (UNRWA) says its employees were tortured by Israel to generate false confessions that the organization was tied to Hamas. “Agency staff members have been subject to threats and coercion by the Israeli authorities while in detention, and pressured to make false statements against the Agency,” a report issued by the agency explained. “Including that the Agency has affiliations with Hamas and that UNRWA staff members took part in the 7 October 2023 atrocities.”

Disgraced broadcaster Huw Edwards has been 'unwilling' to pay back the £200,000 salary he pocketed between his arrest and resignation, a BBC top boss has revealed.

Chairman Samir Shah admitted today that the corporation has not been able to recover any salary as yet from the former BBC star, who was convicted of downloading child sex abuse images last year, and described the situation as 'quite frustrating'.

Last year, Edwards, 63, was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, after he admitted to having indecent images of children.

After his guilty plea in July, the BBC asked him to return his salary, which he was paid during the period following his arrest in November 2023 until he resigned in April 2024.

Asked if they have been able to recover any salary from Edwards during the Culture, Media and Sport Committee on Tuesday, Dr Shah said: 'We have not… We've obviously asked, and we've said it many times, but he seems unwilling.

'There was a moment that we thought that he might just do the right thing for a change, then he decided not to.'

He added: 'It's quite frustrating this, really, because I think he should have done it. He could still do it.

'It's not right. He's taken licence fee payers' money and he knew what he'd done and he should return it now.'

In one of his first official acts, Health Secretary Robert Kennedy on Monday declared "anti-Semitism" a public health crisis "like racism" and threatened to cut off billions in federal funding to Columbia University unless they make their campus a safe space for Jewish students.

Kennedy somehow couched his demand for safe spaces and speech suppression as a fight against "woke cancel culture" in defense of free speech.

Today, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Department of Education (ED), and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced a comprehensive review of Columbia University’s federal contracts and grants in light of ongoing investigations for potential violations of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.

Given Columbia’s ongoing inaction in the face of relentless harassment of Jewish students, the Federal Government’s Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism is considering Stop Work Orders for $51.4 million in contracts between Columbia University and the Federal Government. The task force will also conduct a comprehensive review of the more than $5 billion in federal grant commitments to Columbia University to ensure the university is in compliance with federal regulations, including its civil rights responsibilities.

“Anti-Semitism – like racism – is a spiritual and moral malady that sickens societies and kills people with lethalities comparable to history’s most deadly plagues,” said HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. “In recent years, the censorship and false narratives of woke cancel culture have transformed our great universities into greenhouses for this deadly and virulent pestilence. Making America healthy means building communities of trust and mutual respect, based on speech freedom and open debate.”

The Task Force’s review is the first major action announced from the multi-agency Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism created by President Trump’s Executive Order titled “Additional Measures to Combat Anti-Semitism.”

“Americans have watched in horror for more than a year now, as Jewish students have been assaulted and harassed on elite university campuses. Unlawful encampments and demonstrations have completely paralyzed day-to-day campus operations, depriving Jewish students of learning opportunities to which they are entitled,” said Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. “Institutions that receive federal funds have a responsibility to protect all students from discrimination. Columbia’s apparent failure to uphold their end of this basic agreement raises very serious questions about the institution’s fitness to continue doing business with the United States government.”

GSA has been asked to facilitate the review of federal funding received by Columbia including grant and contract reviews across the Federal Government.

“GSA remains committed to upholding federal acquisition standards and ensuring that government contracts reflect our nation’s values, including the fight against anti-Semitism,” said FAS Commissioner and Task Force Member Josh Gruenbaum. “With this partnership, we’ll be working across the government to end the culture of anti-Semitism in our institutions of higher education — putting all institutions on notice that it will not be tolerated per President Trump’s Executive Order.”

At this time, no immediate contracting actions are being taken.

TikTok, Meta and Snapchat slam YouTube's proposed exemption from social media ban

The federal government has been accused of making a "sweetheart deal" to exempt YouTube from the teen social media ban, as YouTube's competitors kick off a co-ordinated public campaign against the move.

In November last year, federal parliament passed legislation to ban children younger than 16 from using major social media platforms, citing widespread safety concerns from Australian parents.

Initially, Communications Minister Michelle Rowland said YouTube would be among those banned, but several weeks later she indicated the video platform may be given a carve-out because of its educational uses.

While the legislation has already passed, it isn't due to take effect until December, and the specific rules for applying the ban are still being decided.

The latest draft rules set out several exemption categories, including one for services "that have the sole or primary purpose of supporting the education of end users".

The draft rules go on to specify that YouTube is covered by that education carve-out.
