Canada has a new leader, and he is no better than the old one.
As the Calgary Herald reported, the Liberal Party of Canada on Sunday night selected Justin Trudeau’s former economic advisor Mark Carney as their next leader and the new Prime Minster of Canada following Trudeau’s resignation.
The 59-year-old Carney won 86% of votes cast to beat former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland in a race in which just nearly 152,000 party members voted.
Carney is a far-left individual who used to work as a Goldman Sachs executive, spending two years in NYC as VP of Corporate Finance during his 13 years at the company.
He is also a former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England along with being a notable ‘green energy’ investor.
Despite giving multiple opportunities to do so, Carney has given Canadians no indication that there will be few changes after spending last decade suffering under Trudeau’s open borders, inflation crisis, high energy taxes, and authoritarian censorship regime.
That is because Carney will only answer to his globalist masters, not ordinary people. Reports have revealed that he has also refused to disclose his finances and assets to Canadians, leading many to wonder who he working for.
As The New York Post notes, Carney is also a deranged Trump-hater just like Trudeau and has compared the president to an infamous Harry Potter villain named Voldemort.
“When you think about what’s at stake in these ridiculous, insulting comments of the president, of what we could be, I view this as the sort of Voldemort of comments,” Carney quipped.
Due to his hatred and anger toward Trump, Carney has also vowed to use dollar-for-dollar retaliatory tariffs where in places where the American people will be hurt most.
“Canada will not bow down to a bully,” he crowed last Tuesday. “In the trade war, just like in hockey, we will win.”
And Canadian voters are allowing their feelings to override the real crises facing their country. The Liberal Party has surged in popularity in recent weeks and has overtaken their Conservative rivals in some election polls.
An election victory that was unthinkable just a month ago is now a real possibility for the ruling party.
Should this trend continue, Canadians will be voting to suffer under failed leadership for several more years when a far better alternative like Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is available.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has followed through on his pledge to impose a 25 percent tariff on electricity exported to the United States in response to the tariffs enacted on Canadian products by President Donald Trump.
The export tax on the energy Ontario sends to New York, Michigan, and Minnesota comes into force today, bumping up the cost of electricity for 1.5 million households and businesses in those states, Doug Ford said during a March 10 press conference in Toronto.
The electricity tariff will be paid by utility providers in the three states, netting the province an estimated $300,000 to $400,000 per day, Ford said, noting that the tariff will add roughly $100 per month to the Americans’ bills. Continue…

The Port of Vancouver moved a record amount of goods through its gates last year, an increase driven partly by surging oil exports made possible by the Trans Mountain Pipeline.
The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority says total freight at the country’s largest port grew five percent year-over-year to reach 158 million tonnes in 2024.
It says crude oil exports climbed more than 500 percent thanks to the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion that began operations last May.
Container traffic recovered in 2024, rising 11 percent from 2023 in a return to pre-pandemic levels following a spike driven by demand for consumer items at the height of COVID-19.
The port authority also says a record of nearly 470,000 vehicle imports rolled onto the docks last year in a three percent boost spurred by Canadians’ appetite for new cars.
Nonetheless, it says several hurdles hampered port activity last year, including extreme weather such as wildfires that halted freight trains as well as work stoppages at B.C. ports and both major railways.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s top economic adviser is accusing Canada’s law enforcement agencies of not taking enough action on fentanyl labs, while reiterating previous comments from the U.S. administration that the tariffs put on Canada are part of a “drug war, not a trade war.”
“I can tell you that in the Situation Room, I’ve seen photographs of fentanyl labs in Canada that the law enforcement folks were leaving alone. Canada’s got a big drug problem, even in their own cities,” U.S. National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said during an interview on ABC News on March 9.
Hassett said the White House has also seen intelligence indicating that Mexican cartels are operating in Canada. He also pushed back against Canadian officials’ repeated comments that Canada only accounts for less than 1 percent of fentanyl entering the United States, calling the country a “major source” of the drug.
