Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wasted no time in reacting to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s acceptance of a proposed 30-day ceasefire, calling it a “manipulative” move aimed at stalling rather than ending the war.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Thursday that he is open to a U.S.-backed proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine. However, his agreement came with a key stipulation—direct discussions with President Donald Trump.

It can be recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin signaled to Washington in 2023 in public and privately through intermediaries that he was ready to open to a ceasefire in Ukraine. Putin’s proposal was to freeze the war along current lines, which includes territory gained by Russia.

Sources told Reuters that this approach from Putin offered what some Kremlin figures saw as the best hope for some form of peace. But Biden and his Regime rejected the proposal without countering, as one Russian source lamented.

Another Russian source explained that the Regime insisted on involving Ukraine in any discussion regarding a possible ceasefire. This immovable position caused the talks to collapse completely.

In 2024, Putin offered a peace proposal to Ukraine to permanently end the war in Ukraine and begin negotiations.

Yet within a month, U.S. President Donald Trump had presented a proposal to Ukraine’s President Volodymr Zelensky to access the country’s vast mineral resources as “compensation” for U.S. support to Ukraine in the war against Russia.

Whitehall was none too pleased about Washington muscling in.

When Foreign Secretary David Lammy met Zelensky in Kyiv last month he reportedly raised the issue of minerals, “a sign that [Keir] Starmer’s government is still keen to get access to Ukraine’s riches”, the iPaper reported.

Lammy earlier said, in a speech last year:

“Look around the world. Countries are scrambling to secure critical minerals, just as great powers once raced to control oil.”

The U.K. foreign secretary was correct, but Britain itself is one of those powers, and Ukraine is one of the major countries U.K. officials — as well as the Trump administration — have their eyes on.

It’s no surprise why. Ukraine has around 20,000 mineral deposits covering 116 types of minerals such as beryllium, manganese, gallium, uranium, zirconium, rare earth metals and nickel.

The country, whose economy has been devastated by Russia’s brutal war, also possesses one of the world’s largest reserves of graphite, the largest titanium reserves in Europe, and a third of the continent’s lithium deposits.

These resources are key for industries such as military production, high tech, aerospace, and green energy.

In recent years, the Ukrainian government has sought to attract foreign investment to develop its critical mineral resources and signed strategic partnerships and held investment fora to showcase its mining opportunities.

The country has also begun auctioning exploration permits for minerals such as lithium, copper, cobalt and nickel, offering lucrative investment opportunities.

An anti-woke man vying to lead Manitoba’s Progressive Conservative Party has alleged that the current New Democratic government in his province used “lawfare” tactics to go after his personal business in a “a pre-emptive strike” against his leadership campaign.

According to Wally Daudrich, he claimed that the government of New Democratic Party Premier Wab Kinew has been using “dirty politics” and the law to “weaponize” an attack on his polar bear tourism business.

Daudrich is the only other candidate besides MLA Obby Khan, a former pro football player who is vying to become the leader of Manitoba’s Progressive Conservatives on April 26. Daudrich has sold no less than 7,500 memberships thus far, exceeding Khan’s total.

However, according to Daudrich in a Western Standard report, permits for polar bear expeditions for his Lazy Bear Lodge and Expeditions in Churchill have been rescinded while permits for his two other competitors have not.

Only 20 permits were issued between three companies for 2025 polar bear viewing tours in the north of the province.

Daudrich said that a letter dated February 27 from Maria Arlt, director of the Wildlife Branch of Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures, blindsided him after it read that his tundra buggies permits had been revoked.

Today marks the end of Trudeau’s nearly 10-year tenure as prime minister with Carney being sworn in along with his new cabinet at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

While Carney is seen as a way for the Liberal Party to distance itself from Trudeau, many of the most prominent members of Trudeau’s cabinet remain in Carney’s cabinet, including Chrystia Freeland, Mélanie Joly, Steven Guilbeault and François-Philippe Champagne among others.

Carney’s appointment comes after the Liberal Party elected Carney as their leader with 85.9 percent of the vote. Now, the unelected official is Canada’s prime minister.

Carney, who as reported by LifeSiteNews has admitted he is an “elitist” and a “globalist,” had earlier promised the transition to his new government would be “quick.”

Canadian media has hinted that Carney, soon after being sworn in as prime minister, is expected to call a federal election before Parliament will resume on March 24. Trudeau had prorogued Parliament in January after he said he would be stepping down as prime minister.

Carney, whose ties to globalist groups have had Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre call him the World Economic Forum’s “golden boy,” has a history of promoting anti-life and anti-family agendas, including abortion and LGBT-related efforts. He has also previously endorsed the carbon tax and even criticized Trudeau when the tax was exempted from home heating oil in an effort to reduce costs for some Canadians.

Just recently, Carney criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for targeting woke ideology, and has vowed to promote “inclusiveness” in Canada.

Carney also said last week that he is willing to use all government powers, including “emergency powers,” to enforce his energy plan if elected prime minister.

The Ukrainian General Staff has denied that Kiev’s troops have been encircled in Russia’s border region of Kursk. The statement was issued after US President Donald Trump urged Moscow to spare the “thousands” of Ukrainian soldiers trapped in the area.

All the reports about the encirclement “are false and fabricated by the Russians for political manipulation,” the General Staff said in a statement on Telegram on Friday, adding that it was done to “exert pressure” on Kiev and its Western backers. The statement never mentioned Trump or the US by name.

According to the Ukrainian military, Kiev’s forces are continuing to fight in the region following a regrouping.

Earlier on Friday, Trump said in a post on Truth Social that “thousands of Ukrainian troops are completely surrounded by the Russian military and in a very bad and vulnerable position.” He called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to spare the lives of the trapped soldiers.

Putin responded to Trump’s request by stating that Russia was willing to do that even despite the “numerous crimes” committed by the Ukrainian forces against local civilians. The document is a legal artillery shell aimed directly at Mentzelopoulos, who alleges her dismissal came just before she was to meet the auditor general to discuss allegedly suspicious, overpriced contracts with private surgical providers, potentially costing taxpayers millions.

Mentzelopoulos is suing the province for $1.7 million over alleged wrongful dismissal.

The AHS controversy has rocked the government for weeks — threatening credibility and providing ammunition for the NDP.

The fallout prompted multiple investigations with support from Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Health Minister Adriana LaGrange — the RCMP began probing on March 6, Alberta’s auditor general launched an inquiry, and a third-party review by a former Manitoba judge was commissioned.

The province's statement of claim also says Mentzelopoulos verbally berated an assistant deputy minister to the point where they refused to speak with her one-on-one.

A B.C. nurse accused by the provincial nurses’ college of making “discriminatory” comments about gender issues online has lost in a disciplinary hearing that has gone on for nearly three years.

Amy Hamm was accused of making “discriminatory and derogatory statements regarding transgender people” by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) in connection with comments she made in podcasts, videos, and on social media between 2018 and 2021.

Hearings started in September 2022, with a panel of the Discipline Committee of the BCCNM issuing its final decision on March 13.

Hamm said in a statement to The Epoch Times that was shocked by the ruling.

“I am in disbelief that speaking the truth, and speaking about my opinions on gender ideology and its impact on women, has resulted in my being found guilty of ‘discriminatory and derogatory’ speech,“ she said. ”No woman should be punished for standing up for our rights.”

Hamm has been an outspoken advocate for sex-based rights for women and girls.
