This anon likes the concept of the permanent blue in on the thumb. Then build up the idea of showing loyalty/doing one's duty/fitting in so any voting-age person whose thumb wasn't blue on election day has some 'splaining to do. Peer pressure, like was used in WW2 to get people to enlist.
