they problem is they have a novice network and computing team. Anyone with a brain would setup failover dns and routing capabilities with multiple routes with servers in a clustered environment and hundreds of data centers. There should never be faulures if you have a genius network team, there should always be multiple fail overs routed. Localized downed lines and equipment is not what I'm talking about. Everything must be redundant and is easily achieved unless you don't know what your doing.

It comes down to simple things like distributing physical trunk links across multiple devices. Most modern network administrators can't figure this out. Verizon for example has probrobly one of the best reduncy, security and uptime in the industry. There engineers are tip notch and their network rarely goes down literally ever, even localized.
