Over 8,000 Syrian Alawites Flee To Russian Base Amid Jihadist Killings: 'We Need Russian Protection'

A new wave of refugees are fleeing Syria amid several days of sectarian-driven killings mainly targeting Alawites, and in some cases Christians, along the coastal areas in Tartus and Latakia governates.

Fresh reports say that over 10,000 Syrians have entered the Lebanese region of Akkar as nearly 20 villages have opened up to the displaced. More are said to be headed further south to the large Lebanese city of Tripoli.

Though Tripoli has long been Lebanon's Sunni stronghold, one of its neighborhoods, Jabal Mohsen, has a large Alawite population - where many of the refugees are believed headed, possibly connecting with friends or relatives as well.

However, this could create new tensions in Lebanon, given that historically Lebanese and Syrians don't get along very well, and economically depressed Lebanon can't handle thousands more refugees settling within its borders.

Tripoli has in recent history seen its share of sectarian clashes, and Sunni radicals there are likely to resist a mass new influx of Alawites from Syria.

Currently there is some evidence that more jihadists are traveling to the Syrian coast to continue their ethno-religious cleansing campaign, despite public statements of the Jolani regime calling for an end to the attacks. Some pundits suspect that the killings have Jolani's tacit approval.

They attackers are a mix of ruling Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) soldiers, as well as foreign fighters. Of course, the foreign fighters are allied with their follow Sunni radicals in HTS.

Clashes in Kenya over presidential donations

William Ruto claims that opposition to his cash gifts to churches comes from people who do not believe in God

Kenyan police have clashed with protesters who tried to occupy a church that recently received a gift of 20 million shillings ($155,000) from the East African nation’s president, William Ruto.

According to local media, the donation to the Jesus Winner Ministry in the Roysambu neighborhood of the capital, Nairobi, last week sparked outrage among the country’s youth, who have been protesting a high cost of living since last year. Ruto also pledged an additional 100 million shillings (around $774,000) toward the religious organization’s upcoming fundraising event.

On Sunday, protesters set fires and blocked roads leading to the church, prompting riot police to use tear gas canisters to disperse them, The Star newspaper reported.

The outlet cited the leader of the church, Bishop Edward Mwai, as saying that unnamed people had mobilized “thugs” to disrupt a church service. At least 38 people were reportedly arrested during the riot and released later in the evening.

Ruto has defended the donation, claiming it is part of efforts to address the country’s deteriorating morals. He made the remarks during a service at another church – the African Inland Church (AIC) Fellowship-Annex in Eldoret – where he also reportedly offered 20 million shillings.

Nate Vance fought in the ‘Da Vinci Wolves’ battalion, a Ukrainian unit originally formed as a militia of far-right nationalists from the local Right Sector group and named after its late founder, Dmitry ‘Da Vinci’ Kotsubailo, the French daily reported on Sunday.

Nate Vance is the son of James Vance, brother to the vice president’s mother, Beverly. The 47-year-old veteran of the US Marine Corps reportedly leveraged his military experience to support the Ukrainian army, initially serving as an instructor before taking on combat roles. He is said to have returned to his home in Texas in January, just before J.D. Vance was sworn in, claiming he could no longer risk capture.

J.D. Vance rose to prominence with his 2016 memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, which details his upbringing in poverty-stricken Appalachia. Speaking to the French daily, Nate criticized his famous cousin, asserting that his views on Ukraine are misguided and stating: “I could have told him the truth, without pretense, without personal interest. Kremlin urges swift action to curb violence in Syria

Hundreds of civilians have reportedly been killed amid a resurgence of fighting in the war-torn nation

Moscow is concerned about a reported surge of violence in Syria and supports international intervention, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday. As many as 1,300 people have been killed in the cities of Latakia and Tartus in three days, including more than 800 civilians, according to news reports.

Russia and US have requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss a response.

“Many nations and international organizations, including the UN, share our concern,” Peskov said during a regular media briefing.

The Russian official declined to comment on claims that some civilians facing attacks by militias allied with the new Syrian government found shelter inside a Russian military base.

The Syrian government was toppled in late 2024, after militant forces opposing then President Bashar Assad took control over Damascus. The Assad family belongs to the Alawite sect of Islam, which is viewed negatively by hardline Islamists supporting the country’s new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa.

Alawites were reportedly massacred en masse by Syrian security forces after an armed rebellion against the new authorities by groups described in Western media as Assad loyalists. Al-Sharaa, formerly the leader of the jihadist force HTS, has vowed to hold accountable anyone harming innocent civilians. Western nations have granted his government the benefit of the doubt, after al-Sharaa pledged to respect the rights of ethnic and religious minorities and pave the way for an inclusive civilian government in Syria.

Commenting on the spree of violence on Saturday, the EU condemned “pro-Assad elements” for attacking “interim government forces,” as well as “all violence against civilians,” without attributing the deaths to any party. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has broadly denounced “radical Islamist terrorists, including foreign jihadis” for murdering members of Syrian minority groups, including Christians, Druze, Alawites and Kurds.

Medicaid Issued WHOPPING $1.1 TRILLION in Improper Payments.

The federal government’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued an estimated $1.1 trillion in improper payments over the last decade, according to a new outside analysis. While CMS’s internal audits suggest at least $543 billion in improper payments over a decade, the Paragon Health Institute—an independent and nonpartisan healthcare think tank—says its research reveals the fraudulent payments are over double what the government reports.

According to researchers with the Paragon Health Institute, CMS data excludes eligibility checks, which produces a lower, inaccurate cost for fraudulent payments. The researchers note that CMS’s Payment Error Rate Measurement (PERM) audits under both the Obama and Biden governments excluded analysis of state eligibility determinations resulting in an inaccurate estimation of improper payments.

However, according to the Paragon Health Institute researchers, state eligibility determinations represent a critical point where fraud occurs. Under Obamacare, numerous states expanded their Medicaid programs resulting in a wider pool of eligible individuals and higher government reimbursements. The researchers contend this created “an incentive for states to improperly classify traditional enrollees, as well as ineligible applicants, as expansion enrollees.”In addition to eligibility checks, the Paragon Health Institute notes that Medicaid’s presumptive eligibility rules—which allow hospitals to enroll patients in the government healthcare program based on stated income level and household size pending eventual review—represent another major avenue of fraud. According to the research, around 70 percent of individuals deemed eligible for Medicaid by hospital administrators are later determined to be ineligible.

American-flagged tanker Stena Immaculate was struck on the port side amidships in a near-perfect broadside allision by Portuguese-flagged container ship Solong around 1000 Monday morning (0600 New York time), causing a large fireball explosion. The allision took place in the Humber estuary off England’s east coast on the North Sea, just miles from major port towns like Immingham and Grimsby.

After the initial explosion both ships appear to have burnt stem-to-stern and have suffered serious damage. Given the tanker is carrying what has been described as jet fuel (‘Jet A-1 aviation fuel’, a kerosene product), whether its cargo is burnt of lost to the sea, a potential ecological disaster in England’s littoral awaits. HM Coastguard said in a statement on Monday afternoon that “The incident remains ongoing and an assessment of the likely counter pollution response required is being enacted.”

Trump: Iran Was Told To Accept Nuclear Deal Or Face U.S. Military

Trump made the remarks during an interview that aired Sunday on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo when asked about what kind of a deal he wanted.

“There are two ways Iran can be handled: militarily, or you make a deal,” Trump said. “I would prefer to make a deal, because I’m not looking to hurt Iran. They’re great people. I know so many Iranians from this country.”

Trump made clear that he was not talking about the country’s leadership, who he said were “very evil people.”

“I would rather negotiate a deal,” he said. “I’m not sure that everybody agrees with me, but we can make a deal that would be just as good as if you won militarily. But the time is happening now. The time is coming up. Something’s going to happen one way or the other. I hope that Iran and I’ve written them a letter saying, I hope you’re going to negotiate, because if we have to go in militarily, it’s going to be a terrible thing for them.”

Trump said in the letter he told them that he “hoped” they would negotiate because the alternative was that the U.S. would “have to do something.”

Mazkeret Batya man indicted for posing as woman to orchestrate child sex crimes

The suspect, Uri Alfi, is accused of multiple crimes, including causing sodomy rape and indecent acts against children and family members.

A 21-year-old Mazkeret Batya resident was indicted for posing as a woman on social media and instructing parents to commit sex crimes against their children, the state attorney announced on Sunday.

The suspect, Uri Alfi, is accused of multiple crimes, including encouraging sodomy, rape, and indecent acts against children and family members; attempting to cause the rape of a minor family member; using the body of a minor to make inappropriate content; threats; and many other charges.

Upon Alfi’s requests, in a number of cases, fathers committed indecent acts on their children, while other family members committed acts against minors, documented it, and sent the documentation to Alfi, the state attorney said.

The defendant also corresponded with dozens of users, including minors, encouraging them to engage in sexual acts.

In February, one of the people Alfi had persuaded to commit sex crimes was indicted on suspicion that he had committed serious sex offenses against a two-year-old girl in his family, including oral sex.

These acts were filmed and shown to Alfi, who was posing as a 35-year-old woman.

Inappropriate content

Over 220 files with inappropriate content, including content featuring minors, were found on the suspect’s computer. The state attorney asked the court to extend Alfi’s arrest until the end of legal proceedings against him.

The suspect “with his own hands caused severe sex crimes against many minors,” the state attorney’s cyber crimes department said in the request to extend Alfi’s arrest.

He “did not stop, did not hesitate, and did not worry as he staged a live stream of horrifying harm to a baby, toddler, four-year-old, seven-year-old, and many other minors.”

Israel Announces Plans To Create An ‘Emigration Administration’ To Relocate Gazans

Israeli Minister of Finance Betzalel Smotrich announced Sunday that Israel plans to create a “special Emigration Administration” to support President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Gazans.

“We are creating a special Emigration Administration,” Smotrich said during a meeting of the Knesset Land of Israel Caucus. “In order for the tremendous price our nation has paid and their tremendous determination not to devolve into yet another round of fighting the same war again, we must grab this opportunity with both hands, adopt the plan that has been floated by the US President.”

The authority is being prepared under the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Minister of Defense Israel Katz, according to Smotrich, who added that “budgetary constraints will not stand in the way.”

The authority’s first task will be working with the Trump administration to identify countries to absorb Gazans. Smotrich noted that such a plan would be complicated because even if 5,000 people were relocated each day, it would still take a year for emigration to be completed.

“The logistics are complicated because we have to know who the émigré’s are, where each one is going, what the needs are, and more,” he said.

More than 100 participants discussed and proposed practical steps to execute Trump’s plan for voluntary Gazan emigration and promote long-term stability in the region during the Knesset caucus session titled, “The New Middle East: The Plan for Voluntary Migration from Gaza.”

“Things that seemed impossible for many years are now completely legitimate topics for policy initiatives,” Caucus co-chair MK Yoel (Yuli) Edelstein said during the session. “We must not squander the opportunity to take the right steps toward the new Middle East we are discussing. Co-chair MK Simcha Rothman called Trump’s plan a “common sense revolution.”

“Time is of the essence and the clock is ticking; we must speak loudly and clearly in positive language — not only what must not be, but what must be,” Rothman said, adding that those who act against Trump’s plan for emigration are “collaborating with Hamas.”

MK Limor Son-Har-Melech, who is also a co-chair of the caucus, called for “large-scale Jewish settlement of Gaza, the restoration of Jewish life there, Jewish children once again playing in the streets of Gaza.”

Trump previously said he does not support Israel building settlements in Gaza again, because he thinks Gaza isn’t a place for anyone to live until the reconstruction plan is complete. Several Jewish settlements were present in Gaza until 2005, when Israel removed 8,600 Israeli residents from their homes as part of its disengagement from Gaza.

Other participants included Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, Smotrich, Minister of Settlement Affairs and National Projects MK Orit Strock, and former Minister of National Security MK Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Strock said that even if Hamas is subdued in Gaza, the strip still poses a threat to Israel.

“Even if we subdue Hamas as a civil and military leadership, so long as we do not enable the majority of the population of Gaza to emigrate we will not remove the threat,” Strock said. “That is what we must do and I say as a member of the government and the cabinet — this government will take responsibility.”

Israel Ganz, who heads the Binyamin Regional Council in Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank, called for Hamas members in his area to be removed because of the security risk.

“This is a historic moment for the State of Israel: We have an American president in office who is encouraging us to think out of the box,” Ganz said. “We don’t need any other suggestions — we need only to get to work! The time has come for the Israeli government to take active steps toward implementing President Trump’s vision.”

The Pentagon has just signed a deal to “Deploy AI Agents for Military Use”

The Pentagon announced a groundbreaking contract with Scale AI, a San Francisco-based startup, to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) agents into military planning and operations under a program dubbed “Thunderforge.”

The AI agents are designed to synthesize vast amounts of data—combining intelligence reports, battlefield sensor inputs, and positional data on friendly and enemy forces—to provide rapid recommendations.

The technology will initially be deployed with the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in Hawaii and the U.S. European Command in Germany, with plans to expand across all 11 combatant commands.

CNBC emphasized the scale of this endeavor, noting that Thunderforge represents the Pentagon’s “flagship program” for integrating AI agents into military workflows.

Scale AI’s CEO, Alexandr Wang, stated, “Our AI solutions will transform today’s military operating process and modernize American defense,” underscoring the goal of enhancing decision-making speed and precision.

The DIU echoed this sentiment, describing Thunderforge as a “decisive shift toward AI-powered, data-driven warfare” that will enable U.S. forces to anticipate and respond to threats more effectively.

The deal comes amid growing competition with China, which has been flexing its military might in the Pacific.

Yahoo News reported that the Pentagon sees AI as a critical tool to maintain a strategic edge, especially as military operations become increasingly complex and technology-centric.

The Thunderforge system will support mission planning, campaign development, resource allocation, and even AI-powered wargaming to simulate potential outcomes—all under human oversight, as Scale AI and the DIU have stressed.

This human-in-the-loop approach is intended to mitigate risks, though it has not fully quelled concerns about reliability and ethics.

While the Pentagon touts the benefits of AI-driven efficiency, mainstream coverage has also highlighted potential pitfalls.

The Washington Post noted that AI’s ability to process data quickly could revolutionize command roles, but it also raises questions about over-reliance on technology that may produce flawed or biased outputs.

A Reuters analysis of data from the Gaza Health Ministry found that at least 1,238 families — defined as married couples and any children they may have — were totally erased, with no survivors. Families with between five and nine members make up roughly a third of the families wiped out. In at least one case, Israeli forces massacred every member of a family of 14.

Further, almost a quarter of Palestinians in the official death toll of over 48,000 people were 12 years old or younger, while nearly a third were under 18, the report found. There are roughly 8,000 people in the death tally for whom there is no identifying information like age or gender.

Over 2,200 in the official death toll were under two years old when they were slaughtered by Israeli forces, the analysis found.

It’s possible that even more families were wiped out in the genocide, as experts have repeatedly stressed that the true death toll is far higher than the official count.

Israeli troops raid West Bank Mosques on first Friday of Ramadan

The Israeli forces raided several mosques in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus on 7 March while imposing restrictions on Palestinians seeking to pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, WAFA news agency reported.

Israeli forces raided six mosques in the Old City of Nablus at dawn on Friday – the first Friday of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan – while preventing the morning prayer from being held and detaining three Palestinians during their incursion into the city.

Israeli troops fired live ammunition, stun grenades, and tear gas canisters while storming multiple neighborhoods in the city, local sources told the official Palestinian news agency.

“During the incursion, the occupation forces stormed and searched several mosques, including Al-Satoon Mosque, Ajaj Mosque, the Great Salah al-Din Mosque, Al-Tina Mosque, Al-Nasr Mosque, and Al-Beik Mosque,” WAFA said. “These mosques, all located in the Old City, were ransacked during the raids.”

Israeli forces also imposed strict restrictions on the entry of Palestinian Muslims traveling from the occupied West Bank to occupied East Jerusalem for Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, WAFA reported.

Palestinian men under the age of 55 were banned from passing through the Qalandia checkpoint, while women under the age of 50 were also banned from crossing, despite having special permits to enter Jerusalem.

Eyewitnesses told WAFA that thousands of worshippers were not allowed to pass Qalandia under the pretext of not having the necessary permits.

Israeli security forces also imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers who are residents of occupied East Jerusalem. Israeli forces checked the identities of young men at the entrances to the Old City and the doors of the mosque and prevented a number of them from entering, WAFA added.

Despite the restrictions, some 90,000 Palestinians reached Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, for Friday prayers, The New Arab reported.

The Muslim holy month comes this year amid a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and an ongoing Israeli military campaign in the occupied West Bank that has forcibly expelled tens of thousands from their homes in the Nablus, Jenin, and Tulkarem refugee camps.

Senior Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Council member Ahmed Majdalani warned against the US and Israel’s ongoing attempts to forcibly expel Gaza’s 2.3 million Palestinians from the strip and to annex the West Bank.

“If [US President Donald Trump] thinks that there will be regional peace with Israeli normalization alongside the mass expulsion of Gaza’s residents and the annexation of the West Bank, he is wrong,” Majdalani told the Times of Israel on Friday.

Majdalani threatened to cut ties with the US if Israel moves ahead with plans to expel Palestinians from Gaza with support from the president.

“Why would we have ties if Mr. Trump sticks to this proposal?” he said.

Zionism Is Strangling Free Speech in Australia

A Palestinian-Australian man has been criminally charged for voicing criticisms of Zionism during a protest against Israel’s genocide in Gaza. He could spend months in prison.

The Age reports that restaurant owner Hash Tayeh has been charged with four counts of “using insulting words in public” for repeatedly uttering the phrase “all Zionists are terrorists” at a pro-Palestine rally in Melbourne last year. According to The Age’s Chris Vedelago, the punishment for this crime of political speech is “up to two months in prison for a first offence and six months for three or more offences.”

“It is believed to be the first time that potential political speech has been deemed a criminal offence that breached the ‘insulting’ law,” Vedelago reports, adding, “The charges are normally levied for using abusive or obscene language against police officers.”

You really couldn’t ask for a better illustration of the authoritarian dystopia that Australia has become than a news report about a man getting criminally charged for normal political speech with a law that is normally used to jail people who speak impolitely to the police.

These charges for speech crimes against Zionism follow a controversial assertion made last year by Australia’s attorney-general Mark Dreyfus:

“The label Zionist is used, not in any way, accurately. When critics use that word, they actually mean Jew. They’re not really saying Zionist, they’re saying Jew because they know that they cannot say Jew, so they say Zionist or words [such as] Zeo or Zio.”

Dreyfus might want to have a chat with outgoing Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, who just made headlines by proudly proclaiming “I am a Zionist” at his final press conference on Thursday.

Trudeau is not Jewish, nor is genocidal war criminal Joe Biden, who is on record saying on numerous occasions some variation of “I’m a Zionist. You don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist.”

Not all Jews are Zionists, and most Zionists are not Jewish. Zionism is a political ideology which upholds the western decision to drop an abusive apartheid ethnostate on top of a pre-existing civilization in historic Palestine and defend it by any amount of violence and tyranny necessary, and the majority of the people you see defending this status quo are westerners with no connection to the Jewish faith. The cult of Christian Zionism alone outnumbers the world’s Jewish population by about two to one.

It is therefore wildly incorrect to conflate Zionism with Judaism, and it is also highly immoral. People who do this are assigning all Jews the blame for Israel’s abuses, when the blame actually lies with the state of Israel and its western backers. As much as Israel apologists shriek and moan about “antisemitism” when they really mean supporting Palestinians, the real antisemitism problem in our society is the way our ruling institutions keep lumping all Jews in with the abuses of a genocidal apartheid state and the western empire which supports it.
