Dozens Dead After Dam Collapse in Laos - Reports
More than forty people died after a dam collapsed in Laos, sweeping several houses and causing damage, volunteers reported on social media.
A group of volunteers which rounds up support for victims of the floods caused by the dam collapse reported that more than 40 people died and 200 are still missing.
The dam was reportedly slated to start energy supplies in 2019, providing almost all the energy produced to neighboring Thailand. The Xe-Pian-Xe-Namnoy Power Company reported that heavy rain and flooding caused the collapse of the dam, which was under construction since 2013.
Up to five billion cubic meters of water was reportedly released to the river system after the hydropower dam collapse on Monday. The local authorities immediately put out a call for relief aid for flood victims.

As a young kid, we were never taught about the real history of the gruesome, warlike and cannibalistic culture of our history. Out of curiosity and with the help of the internet, i went on a research rampage and found articles written by sailors and missionaries during the mid 1800’s describing their encounters with the Fijians.
Fiji is different now compared to a 100 years ago. According to English CNTV (2/17/2011), Fiji is rated as the top three honeymoon destination in the world behind Hawaii and French Polynesia. Now we talked about cannibalism loosely around the kava bowl. There’s a Fijian joke of a our national rugby team that visited Scotland back in the 1980’s. Durning the half time break, a Scotsman asked a Fijian player how they would treat the loosing team playing against Fiji. In reply he said, “We eat them.”

Pentagon Awards $300Mln to Deliver Javelin Missiles to Ukraine, 5 Other States
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - The US Army has awarded a $307 million Foreign Military Sales contract to Raytheon to supply more Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, Estonia and Lithuania as well as to Australia, Turkey and Taiwan, the Department of Defense said in a press release.
"Raytheon-Lockheed Martin Javelin JV, Tucson, Arizona, was awarded a $307,535,950 modification to Foreign Military Sales (Australia, Estonia, Lithuania, Turkey Taiwan and Ukraine) contract for Javelin Weapon System full-rate production," the release said.
The sale of the US-made missiles was approved in March 2018 by the US State Department and they went for the estimated price of $47 million. Included in the sale were 210 missiles and 37 launchers, the release added.
The Javelin system, built by the Raytheon Company and Lockheed Martin, utilizes a high-explosive, anti-tank warhead that is capable of defeating modern armored vehicles by attacking from above.
The process of clearing the sale to Ukraine was undertaken by the Trump administration in December 2017.

Russia has repeatedly warned against supplies of lethal weapons to Ukraine saying that this would result in escalation of the military conflict in the country's eastern Donbass region. This stance has also been supported by a number of European officials.
