Trump teases talks with Putin

The US president believes a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine can be achieved

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he would likely hold phone talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin this week, expressing hope Moscow would agree to a proposed 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine.

Trump made the remarks to reporters shortly after Ukrainian and American delegations met in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where Kiev agreed to Washington’s proposal for a ceasefire with Moscow. The US president saidstriking such an agreement would greatly aid in reaching a final deal to end the conflict. (Anons decode this, it’s not so straightforward)

“So, hopefully, [Putin will] also agree. And I really think that would be 75 percent of the way. The rest is getting it documented. You know, negotiating land positions, etc,” Trump stated.

Should Russia not agree to the ceasefire,“we just keep going on,”the US president said, warning that “lots of people” would be killed.Russian and US officials are expected to hold a meeting “today and tomorrow” to negotiate, he said.

Shortly after Trump delivered his remarks, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said thatcontacts between Moscow and Washington in the coming days could not be ruled out. According to a reporter with the Kremlin pool,Dmitry Smirnov, a phone conversation between the US and Russian presidents will be held on Friday.

Thus far,Moscow has not provided any official reaction to the statementsmade following the conclusion of US-Ukraine talks in Jeddah. Previously, top Russian officials have stated that a temporary truce is not a solution to the Ukrainian conflict, and that the root problems must be addressed instead.

A pause in the hostilities will be only used by Kiev and its backers to rearm and get ready for a new round of fighting, Moscow has suggested.

(I really don’t think PDJT, the US or Americans want to be tied to Ukraine forever, not even another couple of months, so is Trump dropping the whole country on Europe since they are so willing to support them forever. Our President has to have a good plan with Rubio, Waltz and Witkoff, for getting out this asap. Maybe they are going to put all the current corrupt leaders in jail for life and turn the country over to honest, if there are any, politicians that can save it.)

Trump says US and Russia to hold imminent talks on Ukraine – Reuters

Negotiations will reportedly take place on Tuesday or Wednesday after Kiev agreed to a 30-day ceasefire proposal

US President Donald Trump has announced that an American delegation will meet with their Russian counterparts “today or tomorrow” (March 11-12), Reuters reported on Tuesday.

The statement follows the conclusion of negotiations between the American and Ukrainian delegations in Saudi Arabia, during which Kiev agreed to a 30-day ceasefire and Washington committed to resuming intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

“That’s a total ceasefire,” Trump told reporters outside the White House on Tuesday after the talks. “Ukraine has agreed to it. And hopefully Russia will agree to it.”

Trump’s special envoy,Steve Witkoff, is expected to travel to Moscow in the coming days to discuss the Ukraine conflictwith Russian President Vladirmir Putin. But neither US nor Russian officials have publicly confirmed the trip or its exact date so far.

“We’re going to meet with them [the Russians] later on today and tomorrow and hopefully we’ll be able to [work] out a deal,” Trump continued. “I think the ceasefire is very important. If we can get Russia to do it, that’ll be great. If we can’t we just keep going on and people are gonna get killed, lots of people.”

Russia has yet to issue an official response to the statements following the US-Ukraine talks in Jeddah.

Moscow has previously indicated that any temporary ceasefire deal is unacceptable, arguing it would only allow Kiev to regroup and rearm. Putin stated in January that Russia is seeking a long-term peace based on respect and the legitimate interests of all people living in the region.

(Wait a minute, the Team that met with the Russian’s way before the Ukraine creeps, had a surprisingly clear and open discussions. The US knows all of the things Kiev, Zelensky, the West has done to Russia for years. They certainly know and have known they won’t settle for a ceasefire, if there is anything they’ve said over and over and over, we will not participate in a ceasefire. So that tells me, this whole deal with Ukraine is a façade or a trap. Remember Trump said it was easier to work with Russia than Ukraine? There’s no way, this is the end, so how is the Trump team catch Yermat and Zelensky?)

RT's choice of pictures seem to have a code or sign in them. Like "Trump is saying, I've got this"!

Kremlin comments on role of EU nation in potential Ukraine ‘dissolution’

Poland “would be eager” to reclaim former territory, given the chance, spokesman Dmitry Peskov has claimed

Poland would seize the chance to retake territory from Ukraine it once held, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.He was responding to reports that western Ukraine’s Lviv Region – formerly part of Poland but now a nationalist heartland – has been lobbying in the US independently of Kiev.

Earlier this week, Russian media highlighted a recent disclosure from a Washington-based firm acting as a foreign agent for the administration of Lviv Region. TASS characterized Lviv’s lobbying as an effort to pursue policies independent of Kiev, highlighting the border shared with Poland as an advantage.

When asked about the reports during a regular press briefing on Tuesday, Peskov said the issue was amatter for Ukraine to resolve internally. “I don’t view this as an indication of Ukraine’s dissolution,” Peskov responded.

He suggested, however, that Warsaw “would be eager” to reclaim territories that were once Polish if given the chance.

The US company Color Nine Group notified the Department of Justice in January about its engagement with Ukrainian officials under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

President Michael Willis stated that the firm aimsto find “potential US partner states to establish sister-state relationships” with the Lviv Region, offering its services pro bono.

Related promotional materials inaccurately label Lviv Region as a state, the TASS report noted. Ukraine is a unitary nation with limited regional self-governance.

Lviv Region’s status as part of Ukraine originates from a 1951 border agreement between the USSR and Soviet Poland, which settled territorial disputes following World War II. Some Polish nationalist politicians argue that the transfer of lands inhabited by ethnic Ukrainians was unjust.

While the Polish government publicly supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity, historical grievances linger over the mass killings of ethnic Poles by Ukrainian militants during World War II, whom modern Ukraine regards as independence fighters and heroes.

Moscow slams Western media silence on US journalist’s death

(The media neglected the 6-7 Russian journalists death during the war, which is unheard of in the media.)

Chilean-American Gonzalo Lira in a Ukrainian jail after being arrested by the country’s secret service

The fact that only Moscow cared about the fate of US blogger Gonzalo Lira, who died in a Ukrainian prison last year,is a sign of the “deepest crisis” affecting the international bodies that are supposed to protect journalists, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.

Lira, a Chilean-American citizen, died behind bars in Ukraine in January 2024, while awaiting trial for “systematically justifying the Russian aggression.”

Zakharova recalled the ordeal of the US journalist during a conference on the development of modern media at the Moscow School of Economics (MSE) on Tuesday.

“Has anyone else talked about Gonzalo Lira? An American journalist, He had a US passport. Has anyone talked about him besides Russia? Try to remember. Nobody did,”she insisted.

When asked about Lira’s incarceration, the White House and the US State Department replied with “strategic silence, generously paid for by USAID, an American agency that supposedly promotes international development. It is ridiculous,” the spokeswoman stressed.

==The international institutions that are supposed to protect journalists are currently in “the deepest

Crisis==,” Zakharov said.

“Waiting for them to resuscitate or for them to be resuscitated by someone else is unnecessary and useless” as Russia, which has “an amazing and diverse” journalistic community, has the potential to correct the situation on its own, she noted.

Lira, who was married to a Ukrainian woman and had resided in the city of Kharkov since 2010, got in trouble with the Kiev authorities for his coverage of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on YouTube, which was critical of the government of Vladimir Zelensky.

The blogger, writer and filmmaker, who had Hollywood experience, was first detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in early 2022, but released after a week without any charges being pressed against him.

Lira was arrested again in May 2023 and released on bail three months later; he claimed he’d been subjected to torture while in prison. He ended up in custody again in late July that year after jumping bail and attempting to flee the country to seek asylum in Hungary.

At that time, his father, Gonzalo Lira Sr., suggested that the administration of then-President Joe Biden gave “at least tacit approval of Gonzalo’s arrest.” The journalist’s family later blamed Kiev for his death in prison.

In February, US President Donald Trump’s close ally Elon Musk also claimed that Zelensky had “killed” the American journalist. When asked about Lira during a press conference last month, the Ukrainian leader replied: “I do not know this man. I never knew him.”

It used to be all journalists WW that were killed in war zones, or in other situations used to add the journalists to their list to honor. They never added Lira or the 6-7 Russian Journalists that got killed, and the UN left them off their list for honor also.

Western F-16s ‘can’t compete’ with Russian Su-35s – Ukrainian Air Force

The US-made jets delivered to Kiev lack a cutting-edge, according to a force spokesperson

US-made F-16 fighter jets supplied to Ukraine by Western nations cannot fully compete with Russia’s Su-35 multirole fighter in aerial combat,Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yuri Ignat has said.

Washington approved F-16 deliveries to Kiev in mid-2023, allowing NATO allies to send jets and train Ukrainian pilots.

Speaking to Ukrainian TV channel Novosti.Live on Tuesday, Ignat pointed out “the modifications that Ukraine has cannot compete one-on-one in an air battle. We need a comprehensive approach as the [Russian] Su-35 is a relatively new jet…”he said. “This includes ground-based air defense, electronic warfare systems, and ideally, an airborne radar. Also crucial are onboard radars for our aircraft and air-to-air missiles.” (OK Ukraine build it yourself and fund it yourself, you are welcome)

Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway have pledged to supply Ukraine with 80 F-16s,though most will take years to arrive. In 2024, Ukraine received about 18 aircraft, but one F-16 was lost in August when a veteran pilot was killed in a crash.

The cause remains unclear, with speculation about friendly fire from a Western-provided Patriot missile.

Following the incident, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky dismissed the commander of the Air Force.

Kiev expected the F-16s to be a potential game-changer on the battlefield, but outdated radar systems and the absence of the Link 16 tactical network have limited their effectiveness.

Moscow has condemned Western arms shipments to Ukraine, saying they prolong the war without altering its course. It has also called F-16 deliveries an escalation. Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned the jets would not shift the battlefield situation and said Moscow would consider them legitimate targets if launched from third-country airfields.

(I just love Zelensky and Ukraine complaining about freebies given to them to the tune of ½ billion dollars from many other countries. It just warms my heart, how much gratitude they have. Please Ukraine do that more, I think PDJT would love to hear how grateful you are also.)

Trump offers new 51st state deal to Canada

The US president has announced he will double tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, reiterating his desire to annex the country

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he would impose an even higher levy on Canadian imports, doubling steel and aluminum tariffs to 50%. He also reiterated that he wants to annex the world’s second largest country, stating that the only way to resolve the tariffs standoff would be for Canada to become the “cherished” 51st state of the US.

Trump announced the move in a post on his platform Truth Social, explaining that the hike in tariffs was in response to the 25% retaliatory surcharge on electricity exports to the US imposed on Monday by Ontario, Canada’s most populous province.

“I have instructed my Secretary of Commerce to add an ADDITIONAL 25% Tariff, to 50%, on all STEEL and ALUMINUM COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA, ONE OF THE HIGHEST TARIFFING NATIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD,” Trump wrote, adding that the hike would come into effect on Wednesday.

The president also demanded Canada drop what he had described as“anti-american farmer tariff of 250% to 390% on various US dairy products,” as well as other “egregious” levies. A failure to comply will result in further action, namely the targeting of Canadian car production using measures set to “essentially, permanently shut down the automobile manufacturing business,” Trump warned.

Trump announced 25% tariffs on Canada early in February, but delayed them for a month, until last Tuesday.

Exemptions were granted to Canadian automakers and goods covered by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) until April.Ottawa responded by imposing tariffs on $30 billion worth of American products, with an additional $125 billion in duties set for next month.

Trump also repeated his claims that the US has been “subsidizing” Canada by more than $200 billion a year, but suggested joining the United States as “our cherished Fifty First State” would be the best way to fix the outstanding issues between the two nations, and that both of them would greatly benefit from it.

Starting in December 2024, Trump and his close circle repeatedly expressed support for the idea of taking over Canada. The idea has been rejected by Canadian leaders and the population alike. A recent YouGov poll suggested that up to 77% of Canadians firmly oppose annexation, while only some 15% are in favor of it.

Incoming Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has vowed to fight and win the trade war with Washington, admitting however, that “this victory will not be easy.” Carney also rejected ceding sovereignty to the US, stating on Sunday that “Canada never, ever will be part of America in any way, shape, or form.”

(Is this really just about tariffs? Greenland doesn't have tariffs.I just wonder what Trump knows about the future, that puts the US, Canada and Greenland in such danger? There has to be a reason for this, but he's pushing it a lot.Any ideas anons and Canucks?Hey buddies in Canada is it true 77% oppose joining US, polls are always swayed to have pays for them?)

Militants take hundreds hostage in Pakistan – AFP

(Thanks Joe Bidan for arming terrorists with our equipment, and them killing innocents in other regions)

An armed group has reportedly seized a passenger train in Balochistan province

Armed militants have seized a train in Pakistan’s Balochistan province and are holding 450 passengers hostage, according to AFP news agency.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that its fighters struck the railway track with explosives before taking control of the train in the remote Sibi district, the news agency wrote, citing a statement issued by the group.

A senior railway official in Quetta, the capital of the province, has confirmed the seizure of hostages, according to AFP. The train driver is said to have been injured.

In a purported BLA statement circulating on social media, the group claims that 11 military personnel have been killed. The militants have reportedly threatened to kill all the hostages if the Pakistani authorities launch an operation to free them.

The group claims to have released women, children, and Baloch passengers from the train, and says it has kept 100 hostages who are active-duty personnel of the Pakistani military, police, the country’s anti-terrorism force and intelligence officers.

BLA has also claimed that it has repelled a Pakistani military ground assault, but helicopters and drones continue to conduct airstrikes. It has demanded an immediate halt to the air bombardment, warning that otherwise the hostages will be executed within an hour.

BLA is an armed separatist group that has long sought independence for the Balochistan province from the central government in Islamabad. It has been designated as a terrorist organization by Pakistan and two other countries: the United Kingdom and the United States.

Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest but least populated province; it is home to key mining projects and the ethnic Baloch minority.

The insurgents frequently target police and military forces in the region, as well as foreigners, particularly Chinese nationals assisting in the construction of Pakistan’s infrastructure projects as part of Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative. Apart from the separatists, Islamist militants are known to operate in the area.

The train in question is reported to be the Jaffar Express, a passenger train operated daily by Pakistan Railways between Quetta and Peshawar.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused neighboring Afghanistan of providing a safe haven for BLA fighters, particularly before the Taliban took control of the country.

However, there is no evidence that the new government in Kabul is cracking down on the separatists.

Just now

Egg Prices Are Down Nearly $2.00 in Just 13 Days Following Trump Plan to Lower Cost.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced on Tuesday that egg prices nationwide have begun falling following the Trump administration’s efforts to boost domestic supply. According to Rollins, following measures implemented late last month, the average cost of a dozen eggs has decreased by nearly $2.00.

“A good piece of news we just got in the last day or two is that the average cost of a dozen eggs has now gone down $1.85 since we announced our plan about a week and a half ago,” Rollins said in a video posted to X (formerly Twitter).

However, the Agriculture Secretary did warn that prices could creep back up slightlyas the country heads intothe Easter holidayand demand increases.

In a recent op-ed, Rollins detailed the administration’s strategy to tackle egg prices, which climbed significantly under former President Joe Biden following mass culls of chickens to combat avian flu outbreaks and inflationary pressure.

“This five-point strategy won’t erase the problem overnight, but we’re confident that it will restore stability to the egg market over the next three to six months,” Rollins wrote, adding: “This approach will also ensure stability over the next four years and beyond.”

Notably, the Trump administration is set to invest around a billion dollars in stabilizing prices, with the money largely going toward combatting bird flu and supporting vaccine research. (WTF? Vaccine research)

Polls closed 34 minutes ago

Polls close in Greenland’s capital for parliamentary election as Trump seeks controlUpdated 7:27 PM EDT, March 11, 2025

NUUK, Greenland (AP) — The polling station in Greenland’s capital closed Tuesday in a parliamentary election that will determine the leaders who will confront U.S. President Donald Trump’s effort to take control of the strategically placed Arctic country.

Huge crowds streamed into the polling stationin the capital, Nuuk, throughout the day, warmed by sunny skies. Exhausted voting officials closed the polls well after the planned 8 p.m. local time (2200 GMT)to make sure everyone in line got a chance to cast their ballot.

Unofficial election results should be available in the coming hours, but they won’t be certified for weeks as paper ballots make their way to the capital from remote settlements by boat, plane and helicopter.

Prime Minister Mute Bourup Egede in February called elections a bit early, saying the country needed to be united duringa “serious time” that is unlike anything Greenland has ever experienced.

Greenland, a self-governing region of Denmark, straddles strategic air and sea routes in the North Atlantic and has rich deposits of the rare earth minerals needed to make everything from mobile phones to renewable energy technology.

Trump has been outspoken about his desire to control Greenland, telling a joint session of Congress last week that he thought the U.S. was going to get it “one way or the other.”

While the island of 56,000 people has been on a path toward independence since at least 2009, a break from Denmark isn’t on the ballot — even though it’s on everyone’s mind. Voters will instead elect 31 lawmakers who will shape the island’s future at a defining moment in history: Should Greenland declare independence?

The mood was festive Tuesday at the sole polling station in Greenland ’s capital city, Nuuk, as election workers opened the doors to cheers at 1100 GMT.

Opinion polls show most Greenlanders favor independence. Most say they don’t dislike Americans, pointing to the good relations they have with the local Pituffik Space Base, formerly Thule Air Force Base, where U.S. military personnel have been stationed since 1951.

But Greenlanders show no sign of wanting to become Americans. Even some of Trump’s biggest fans cling to the principle that they should control their destiny: their mantra is that Greenland is open for business, but not for sale.

“The situation has changed because of Trump and because of the world,” said Doris Jensen, representative of the social democratic Siumut party who said she has always favored independence. “So we have decided in our party that we have to do (it) more quickly.”

Trump’s attention has transformed the deeply local process of democracy. Suddenly, the presence of journalists from as far away as Japan and Croatia are reminders that these are far from normal times.

Voter Sofia Rossen had a message for Trump: “Stop talking about Greenland. Stop,” she said in the polling station in Nuuk.

When U.S. President Donald Trump first suggested buying Greenland in 2019, people thought it was just a joke. No one is laughing now. (Why were they so happy today? They better not vote rigg the election.)

>>22744533 Greenland Vote todaycontinued 2/2

The island and the U.S. previously had a positive relationship, but that doesn’t mean they want to be part of the United States, she told The Associated Press. Greenland’s future must be decided by its people, she said.

“It is us, we are living here and we know what to do,” she said. “We are not for sale. We are not American, we won’t be Americans. We are not (Danes), but we are part of the Danish community.”

“I think most of us have been scared since the new year because of (Trump’s) interest,” Pipaluk Lynge, a member of parliament from the ruling Inuit Ataqatigiit, or United Inuit party, told The Associated Press. “So we’re really, really looking to Europe right now to see if we could establish a stronger bond with them to secure our sovereign nation.”

After one of the final televised debates at a school auditorium in Nuuk, Prime Minister Egede was greeted by about 75 supporters who were almost outnumbered by photographers and cameramen.

“All these reporters are frightening to us,’’ said Aviaja Sinkbaek, who works at the school. “It means that something must be happening soon.”

She added: “I wonder what Trump has up his sleeve.”

A vast island draws outsize attention

Politics in Greenland have a different rhythm. Debates during campaigning rarely got heated. People who became too animated were asked to step outside.Issues included building a skilled workforce and how to decorate the new airport, which in November opened a runway long enough to handle jumbo jets.

On Tuesday, political parties pitched tents outside the polling station at the Nuuk sports hall, offering hot drinks and Greenlandic cake — a raisin-laced bread served with butter — in hopes of swaying voters.

Certifying results will take weeks as ballot papers make their way to Nuuk. That’s because there are no roads connecting communities across the island’s 2.16 million square kilometers (836,330 square miles).

Now the vast size has drawn outsize attention.

Greenlanders know what they have. They hope the rare earth minerals will help diversify an economy where government jobs account for 40% of employment.

But the government has imposed strict rules to protect the environment on the island, most of which is covered by ice year-round. The harsh atmospheric conditions raise questions about whether mineral extraction is commercially feasible.
