Actually the oligarchs ripped off Crimea like we are seeing in our own country, so much that they defaulted. The people voted in an independent referendum to become part of Russia once again which outweighed any previous agreements, because as they became broke, the Ukrainians tightened the screws. Ukraine started shelling parts of the country more loyal to Russia. That is how all this started. They robbed the treasury and people became slaves.
