Dawn Probe to Ceres
The Dawn spacecraft, launched by NASA in September 2007, is a retired space probe that studied the dwarf planet Ceres and the asteroid Vesta. Dawn entered orbit around Ceres on March 6, 2015, becoming the first spacecraft to orbit a dwarf planet.
The mission aimed to study these two large bodies in the asteroid belt to understand more about the formation of the Solar System and to test the performance of its ion thrusters in deep space.
Due to the depletion of its hydrazine fuel, NASA announced the end of the Dawn mission on November 1, 2018.
