Hospital hit during Ukrainian drone attack deep inside Russia
Engels and Saratov have endured their worst assault yet, according to local Governor Roman Busargin
A hospital in the central Russian city of Engels hassustained damage in the largest ever Ukrainian drone raid on the area, local officials have reported. The nearby regional capital, Saratov, was also targeted.
Governor Roman Busargin posted images on his Telegram account on Thursday morning, showing the hospital with shattered windows. A woman was reported injured in the attack.Besides broken glass, an oxygen pipeline was ruptured.
“For the time being, incoming emergency patients are being redirected to other facilities,”the governor stated. He emphasized that the incident “will not affect the quality of medical care provided at the hospital.”
Engels and Saratov lie more than 600km from Kiev-controlled territories on opposite banks of the Volga River. A military airfield is situated on the southeastern outskirts of Engels.
The Russian Defense Ministry reportedintercepting 54 Ukrainian drones overnight in Saratov Region, as well as 40 over Voronezh Region and 22 over Belgorod Region. Smaller numbers were intercepted in various other regions, though overall 132 drones were brought down by air defenses, Moscow has reported.
The latest Ukrainian assault comes amid negotiations for a partial ceasefire aimed at suspending long-range strikes on energy infrastructure by both sides. Advocated by US President Donald Trump, the measure seeks to facilitate peace talks and establish a comprehensive truce.

Poland to mine borders with banned weapons
Warsaw and Baltic NATO states previously called for lifting a ban on types of landmine, citing a perceived threat from Russia
Poland has announced plans to deploy anti-personnel landmines Warsaw had previously banned along its border with Russia and Belarus, citing concern about a potential Russian assault.Moscow has repeatedly denied having any intention of attacking EU or NATO countries.
Earlier this week NATO’s eastern European members Poland, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuaniaannounced a proposal to exit the Ottawa Treaty, which prohibits the use of anti-personnel minesand to which they were all signatories.
Speaking to local radio on Tuesday, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Pawel Bejda explained that Warsaw plans to mine the country’s frontiers with Belarus and Russia, whose Kaliningrad exclave shares a 144-mile border with Poland, as part of a $2.6 billion ‘Eastern Shield’ project.
“We have no choice,” Bejda told RMF24, adding that itwill allow the country’s defense industry to produce up to one million new landmines.
The Polish government has also announced plans to intensify the fortification of its borders, including with anti-tank obstacles and reinforced defensive positions.
Beyond landmines, Polish Prime Minister DonaldTusk has also suggested that Warsaw should acquire its own nuclear weapons.
Moscow has repeatedly ridiculed Western claims that it intends to attack NATO or EU states, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed such statements as “nonsense.”He has also suggested that the supposedthreat of a Russian attack is being used by European politicians to scare their citizens in order to extract more resources from them and justify increased military spending.
Meanwhile, Russian officials have also blasted the EU’s increasing militarization as reckless and escalatory. Earlier this month, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the confrontational rhetoric and plans coming out of Brussels and European capitals could hamper the chances of finding a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict.

‘No problem’ for US to take over Ukrainian nuclear plants – energy secretary
America possesses the expertise to run the Soviet-built facilities, Chris Wright has claimed
American nuclear specialists have the necessary expertise to operate Ukrainian nuclear facilities, should President Donald Trump authorize such a step, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright has stated.
The possibility of the US taking over Ukraine’s energy supply, including its nuclear power plants, surfaced during Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky on Wednesday, according to official American accounts of the conversation.
When asked about the practical implications of such an arrangement by Fox News, Wright said it would be feasible if the Trump administration deems it a necessary step towards peace in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
”If it was helpful to achieve that end to have the US run nuclear plants in Ukraine – no problem, we can do that,” he said.
The Trump administration has suggested that potentialAmerican ownership of the Ukrainian energy sector “would be the best protection” for the infrastructure.
Soviet-built nuclear plants have become a vital source of electricity for Ukraine, as Russia has targeted parts of the power grid it considers crucial for Kiev’s military manufacturing and logistics.
This week, Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to Trump’s proposal for a moratorium on strikes against Ukrainian energy infrastructure, with Zelensky committing to halt long-range drone attacks on Russian facilities in return.Ukraine immediately broke the agreementby launching three kamikaze drones against aninternationally-owned oil transfer station in Russiaon Wednesday, according to Moscow’s military, which labeled it a blatant provocation.
Further discussionsinvolving the US, Russia, and Ukraineregarding a gradual de-escalation of hostilities are scheduled for later this week. During a press conference on Wednesday, Zelensky announced plans to send specialists in port infrastructure to Saudi Arabia as he seeks protection for the national transport system.
At the same media event,Zelensky claimed he did not offer Trump ownershipof Ukrainian nuclear plantsbut rather asked for American investmentin the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant – which is operated by Russia and which Kiev considers illegally occupied.
https://www.rt.com/news/614524-ukraine-nuclear-power-plants/
It’s always about the grift for money with Zelensky so the can steal 3/4 of it, Trump’s plan is to not send money but the US run so neither side fight over it. No more money to Ukraine.
So Trump is sending Americans in to work, to assure Zelensky they would prevent any attacks from Russia. The same plan he had with important rare earth minerals. That was easy.

Putin aide reveals date of next Russia-US talks in Riyadh
Moscow’s delegation for the upcoming meeting in Saudi Arabia has already been put together, according to Yury Ushakov
A new round of negotiations between Russian and US officialswill take place in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh on Monday, President Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov has said.
Senator Georgy Karasin and Sergey Beseda, who is an aide to the director of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) Aleksandr Bortnikov, will be heading Moscow’s delegation of experts at the upcoming talks, Ushakov announced on Thursday.
“They are truly experienced negotiators, who are well versed in international issues,” he added.
A team of US experts that will take part in the meeting in Saudi Arabia has also been put together, Ushakov said.
On Wednesday, Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz announced that he’d had a phone call with Ushakov, during which they “agreed that our technical teams will meet in Riyadh in the coming days.”
Putin’s aide has confirmed that “such a conversation did take place.”
According to Ushakov, the meeting in Riyadh will be mainly dedicated to the discussion of “the prospects for thepossible implementation of the well-known initiative concerning the safety of navigation in the Black Sea.”
During their phone call on Tuesday, Russian President VladimirPutin, among other things, supported the proposalby his US counterpart Donald Trump tointroduce a “maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea,” with the two leaders agreeing to initiate negotiations to further refine the details of such an arrangement.
“We hope that the consultations on Monday will be productive,” Putin’s aide noted.

North Korea world’s 3rd largest Bitcoin holder – Times
The FBI has accused Pyongyang of orchestrating a $1.5 billion cryptocurrency heist
North Korea is estimated to be the world’s third-largest holder of bitcoin, The Times reported on Tuesday.
The US has accused Pyongyang of masterminding a $1.5 billion digital asset heistand claimed that nearly half of North Korea’s foreign currency income comes from “malicious cyber activities.”
The country has endured stringent economic sanctions that hinder its participation in international trade for decades. In order to secure resources for its defense programs, based on the need for a robust military ad a nuclear deterrent, Pyongyang has resorted to innovative strategies, including crypto, to circumvent the restrictions.
The ranking stems from an analysis by Arkham Intelligence, a firm that employs AI to trace ownership of anonymous crypto wallets. Arkham estimates thatthe Lazarus Group – a hacking collective allegedly linked to the North Korean government– holds around $1.2 billion in bitcoin. By comparison, it estimates US bitcoin assets to be worth over $17 billion, and those of the UK at over $5 billion.
Last month, the FBI accused the Lazarus Group of stealing approximately $1.5 billion worth ofdigital currency from Bybit, a Dubai-based cryptocurrency exchangeserving over 60 million users. The hackers reportedly exploited a routine transfer between digital wallets to abscond with around 401,000 Ethereum tokens. The Bureau said it was expecting Lazarus to launder its ill-gotten gains through various cryptocurrencies.

Putin’s envoy reveals number of US firms still working in Russia
The American companies are eager to continue doing business in the country, Kirill Dmitriev has said
Some 150 US companies continue to operate in Russiadespite multiple rounds of sanctions imposed on Moscow by Washington, Kirill Dmitriev, President Vladimir Putin’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, has said.
Apple, Coca-Cola, Ford, Microsoft, IBM, McDonald’s, and numerous other American brands decided to withdraw from the country after the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022 and the ramping up of sanctions against Moscow by the administration of then-US President Joe Biden. However, many companies opted to stay, with some doing so by re-branding their Russian enterprises.
Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in Moscow on Tuesday, Dmitriev insisted thatthese American firms “absolutely want to continue doing business in Russia.”
“The American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham) indicates that 150 US companies are currently present on the Russian market,” he said.
According to the envoy, who is also the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, which bankrolled the production of the Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19,some 75% of the US firms that keep working in the country have been doing so for more than 25 years.
Earlier this month, AmCham President Robert Agee called on the US government to ease its sanctions on Moscow, arguing that the curbs on aviation, investment and banking are harming both American and Russian businesses.
Agee also welcomed dialogue between the US and Russia on Ukraine and other issues, which restarted after Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
In February, Dmitriev estimated in an interview with CNN that “US businesses lost over $300 billion from leaving the Russian market.” The figure is nearly equal to the value of Russian central bank assets frozen in the West as part of the sanctions related to the Ukraine conflict.
Trump’s special envoySteve Witkoff suggested last month that the US companies could “come back” to Russiaif Moscow and Washington can find a peaceful settlement to the Ukraine conflict. “I think that everybody would believe that that would be a positive, good thing to happen,” he stressed.

China backtracking on Arctic ambitions – SCMP
A shift in Russia-US relations and their potential polar cooperation could affect Beijing’s interest in the region, the outlet has reported
China is expected to reshape its Arctic policy, backtracking on its ambition to become a major polar power by 2030, the South China Morning Post has reported, citing insiders. The shift comes amid intensified scrutinyfrom Arctic nations and the potential for US-Russia cooperation in the region.
Beijing first outlined its vision for a ‘Polar Silk Road’ in a 2018 white paper, positioning it as an extension of its Belt and Road Initiative. The plan implied increased access to the Arctic’s abundant natural resources and an expanded role in the region’s governance, the SCMP reported on Sunday.
However, China’s self-designation as a “near-Arctic state” – despite being 1,400km (870 miles) south of the Arctic Circle with no territorial claims in the region– faced pushback from Arctic nations, including Russia, which controls over half of the region’s coastline and has long prioritized protecting its sovereignty, the article claimed.
“The Chinese interest was really first announced quite aggressively in the white paper [with] the term near-Arctic state that everybody seems to have had problems with,” the insider told the SCMP. China has since dropped the term, and there appears to be a retreat or a significantly reduced interest in the Arctic, the source added.
Beijinghas reportedly shifted its focus on thedevelopment of heavy icebreakersand conducting polar research while downplaying its broader ambitions.
The development comes as the US and Russia have held discussions on potential economic cooperation in the Arctic as part of recent bilateral contacts.
Other observers note that Beijing’s continued push for building heavy icebreakers indicates that its interest in the Arctic has not declined.
“I believe China is still very interested in many of the opportunities that existto become more involved in Arctic science and commerce,”Duncan Depledge, an Arctic expert and lecturer in geopolitics and security at the UK’s Loughborough University, told the outlet.
China’s deepening partnership with Russia, reinforced by shared rivalry with the US over the past few years, led to a “no-limits” partnership with Moscow, the report said.
However, US President Donald Trump’s shift on Ukraine, pushing for a ceasefire and restoring ties with Moscow, has created uncertainty for Beijing, according to Depledge.Trump has shown interest in the Arctic, and apotential US-Russia deal on regional cooperation could follow negotiations on Ukraine.
China is likely to face challenges, especially if Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin strike an Arctic deal, according to Depledge. In such a scenario,Russia would have to decide whether to align with China, cooperate with Trump, or maintain a balance between the two, the expert added.

German Govt Warns Travelers Not to Break U.S Law During Trump Administration or They Might Lose Visa Access or Future Entry
March 20, 2025 | Sundance |
The funny thing is that EU countries are viewing this statement from Germany as if it is a negative assertion against President.
The German government, and newly elected German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, is warning its citizens that if they travel to the United States they should be careful not to break the law.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz warns travelers that violating U.S. law while President Trump is in office, might get them removed from the U.S. or lose their visa entry privilege.
BERLIN — The German government has sharpened its travel advice for the United States.
According to its website, Berlin’s Foreign Office now warns its citizens that tougher immigration enforcement under U.S. President Donald Trump could land travelers in detention or see them face deportation.
It updated the guidance after several German nationals were detained at U.S. entry points, some held for days before being sent back. Officials now explicitly warn thateven minor infractions — such as overstaying a visa or misstating travel plans — could trigger immediate deportation or a ban on future entry. (read more)
This is a major story throughout the EU gaining widespread attention. Yet, to be brutally honest I thought it was a spoof article at first. Apparently, most Germans believed they could break the law in the USA without any consequence.
This feels like some kind of ‘winning’, but I’m not exactly sure how to define it. 😂

President Trump Has “Very Good Call” with Volodymyr Zelenskyy
March 19, 2025 | Sundance |
President Donald Trump spoke to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following yesterday’s discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Trump gives a brief summary via his Truth Social account:
[Source]
Leaking to Politico, because of course they do, theUkraine team said the call was “not bad.”
[…] “This call was indeed not bad. Trump shared some things from his conversation with Putin, discussed further steps, the work of the teams, and needed to meet again and talk about how everything would work out,” said a senior Ukrainian official who was granted anonymity to discuss the sensitive call.
“I would not speak about any reactions, would just say that the whole tone of the conversation was that we have to move on,” the official added.
(They seem subtly outraged, at least they are not screaming))

Exclusive — Trump on Ukraine War, Calls with Zelensky, Putin: ‘Two Very Good Conversations,’ ‘I Do Believe a Deal Will Be Worked Out’
19 Mar 2025 Matthew Boyle, Alexander Marlow and Nick Gilbertson1/2
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively on Wednesday afternoon that his phone calls on Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and on Wednesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were “two very good conversations.”
“The one with President Putin was yesterday—that went very well,” Trump said in an interview in the president’s private dining room just off the Oval Office. “I then spoke with President Zelensky today and explained what took place yesterday, and my aim is to put these two countries together. Then we work a ceasefire and ultimately we stop losing 2,000 people a week. Two thousand people a week or more are being killed in that war, and I want to stop it.I also want to stop massive payments that are necessary to be made by us. I also want Europe to pay the same as us because they weren’t able to do that under Biden and Biden never asked that because Biden was a grossly incompetent president. We had two very good phone calls and I do believe a deal will be worked out so we can stop the bloodshed that’s taking place over there.”
The White House readout of Trump’s call with Putin on Tuesday noted that both leaders expressed an interest in strengthening economic ties between the U.S. and Russia.
“The two leaders agreed that a future with animproved bilateral relationship between the United States and Russia has huge upside,” the White House readout read in part. “This includes enormous economic deals and geopolitical stability when peace has been achieved.”
As Breitbart News has reported, though, the Russians have effectively seized an American-owned company called Glavproduct. The canned food maker, which is wholly owned by U.S. company Universal Beverage, was taken over by the Russians in the waning days of former President Joe Biden’s administration. The American CEO of the company, Leonid Smirnov, has publicly asked for Trump to help fix this situation as part of the U.S.-led negotiationsbetween the Russians and the Ukrainians to end the war in Ukraine. Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously told Breitbart News that fixing that situation would be “part of” the conversation down the road as part of the economic normalization between the U.S. and Russia in these negotiations. Trump, when asked about this in the interview with Breitbart News, said he personally had not heard about this issue butsaid he is sure Putin would be “very generous” in dealing with this and fixing the situation.
“I haven’t heard about this. Nobody has complained about it to me. But if I heard, I’m sure President Putin would be very generous,” Trump said.
Trump also said that, while it is not a goal or motive of the U.S. in opening up economically with Russia to split Russia off from China, that may be a result of these actions.
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2025/03/19/exclusive-trump-on-ukraine-war-calls-with-zelensky-putin-two-very-good-conversations-i-do-believe-a-deal-will-be-worked-out/
2/2
“That may be a consequence of it, but no, I think it’s a good thing,” Trump said. “We should be dealing with Russia. They have the largest piece of land by far, bigger than China. They have 11 time zones. You can fly through 11 time zones from one side to the other. They have very valuable earth.
Now, we’re getting a deal with Ukraine on rare earth so at least we can say we got our money back and we can do something. We’re in for $350 billion. Biden gave away money like he was just a dope, which he is—a real dope. Think of it: We’re at $350 billion and Europe is at $100 billion, and that hundred is a loan. I exposed that too. The money the European nations put in is a loan. They are getting it back. We just gave them the $350 billion. So now we get our money back plus.”
When it comes to China in particular, Trump discussed the U.S. relationship with India as well with Breitbart News. Asked about his recent summit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trump said he has a “very good relationship” with India but that India has too many high tariffs on the United States.
“I have a very good relationship with India, but the only problem I have with India is they’re one of the highest tariffing nations in the world,” Trump said.“I believe they’re going to probably going to be lowering those tariffs substantially, but on April 2, we will be charging them the same tariffs they charge us.”
Asked about the India-Middle East-Europe-Economic Corridor (IMEC), a deal he signed the U.S. onto during Modi’s visit to the U.S., Trump did not mention China in particular but said it was a “group of wonderful nations” banding together “countering other countries that look to hurt us on trade.”
“We have a powerful group of partners in trade,” Trump said. “Again, we can’t let those partners treat us badly, however. We do better in many ways frankly with our foes than we do with our friends. The ones that wouldn’t be as friendly to us in some cases treat us better than the ones that are supposed to be friendly, like the European Union, which treats us terribly on trade. India and everybody would think of them as an ally. I can say the same for others. But this is a group of wonderful nations that is countering other countries that look to hurt us on trade.”
More from President Trump’s exclusive interview with Breitbart News at the White House is forthcoming.

Poll: Mel Gibson Runaway Favorite for California Governor
Simon Kent20 Mar 2025
Mel Gibson for California governor? A poll has emerged citing him as a popular Republican candidate to run for the office although he has expressed zero interest in pursing it.
In a new Lost Coast Outpost poll formulated on Wednesday, Gibson emerges as asurprising third place and the top Republican candidate with 12 percent of the vote.
California Globe looked at the figures and surmised former Congresswoman Katie Porter now has a slight lead amongst all candidates, but the rest of the field is mixed:
According to the poll, which was a straight straw poll with no demographic data around it, Porter is now leading with a total of 25% of the vote. Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who has led the last several polls with significant margins, fell to 20% in the poll, likely as a result of Porter recently announcing her official run for Governor, while Harris has said that her final decision on running is to come this summer.
In a surprising third place was actor and filmmaker Mel Gibson with 12%. Gibson, who has become a speculative candidate in recent weeks thanks to his opposition against both Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass over their mismanagement of the Los Angeles fires in January, has yet to address a possible run for Governor.
TMZ reports Gibson – the man who directed, produced, co-wrote, and funded the film The Passion of the Christ (2004) amongst a host of other successes in Hollywood – is “flattered” to be considered and to have done so well in the poll but the chance of him running is somewhat less than zero.
The outlet continued, “We’re told Mel has never had any political ambitions — and that isn’t changing now even if voters are digging his criticisms of current Democratic leadership on the state and local level.”
