like it or not our global economy runs on scarcity. even with items in abundance (water, best example) there's enough of a limited supply that value can be assigned to units. even if it's 1 cent a gallon, there's a baseline of X amount of work produces Y amount of value and can purchase Z amount of goods.

the moment any one "real tangible" thing on the planet exists which has 0 scarcity and a modicum of "need" exists - the equation is destroyed.

energy production will be the linchpin. if energy is free, work is free, it will eventually follow that money is meaningless.
