If you adhere to the 2nd amendment and don't require the government's permission to arm yourself, you would be a felon also.
It's perfectly fine if someone has completed their sentence. That means they don't owe society anything and have the same rights as you. It doesn't mean that you get to keep them down for the rest of their life.
