I agree. This book is a must read for understanding what the Fed is really up to. Their mission is at total odds to their announced mission. It is written so non-economists can easily read and understand what is going on.

I would add another book to this for understanding the roots of the Fed. James Perloff's book The Shadows of Power ties the creation of the Fed directly to the CFR, and documents how the early CFR members and the bankers involved in the FED sent 10s of millions of dollars to support the the 1917 Russian revolution that brought the followers of Marx to power there. A small but packed with information book.

I have been recommending these two books to everyone I know and every place I go online for quite a while. They are a must read if you want to understand the history of how we have gotten to where we are at this point in the US.
