Elon Musk to file lawsuit against former US Rep Jamaal Bowman

Elon Musk has announced that he is filing a lawsuit against former United States Representative Jamaal Bowman over his recent comments in a CNN segment.

Musk shared his legal intentions in a post on social media platform X.

During an appearance on CNN, Bowman, who made news in 2023 by triggering a fire alarm while Congress was in session, strongly criticized Elon Musk. Unlike other Musk critics, Bowman went straight for the jugular, calling the CEO a “Nazi” and a “thief.” Bowman’s comments received polarizing reactions in social media, with some users stating that such words could be used to sue for defamation.

“The American people do not trust Elon Musk. And Elon Musk is incompetent in his position. And how do we know? Because they fired tens of thousands of people, it was challenged in court, the court said people have to go back, and now the people are coming back. He’s incompetent, he’s a thief, he’s a Nazi, and people don’t trust him,” Bowman said.

In a comment to a video of Bowman’s CNN segment that was shared on X, Musk stated that the former Democratic Congressman’s words have crossed a line. “I’ve had enough. Lawsuit inbound,” Musk wrote in a post on X. Musk’s post received some support from X users, several of whom noted that it’s high time the CEO fought back against the vitriol that is consistently thrown his way.

Musk has been on the receiving end of protests from critics who oppose his work with U.S. President Donald Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Opposition against Musk has spilled over to Tesla, resulting in stores being shot, firebombed by Molotov cocktails, vandalized, and vehicles and Superchargers being subjected to arson. Even regular Tesla owners have reported a growing wave of vandalism incidents.

‘Snow White and Robert DeNiro's new film bomb at the box office

Disney’s latest remake faces long odds to break even theatrically while Warner Bros.’ “The Alto Knights” bombs with $3 million opening.

The latest drought plaguing the box office has only been relieved somewhat by Disney’s “Snow White,” which earned $16 million from 4,200 theaters on its opening day and is earning a tepid $48 million opening weekend.

That result meets pre-release projections of a $45-50 million launch for the movie, but “Snow White” will need remarkable legs to break even theatrically against its $250 million-plus budget before marketing costs.

The possibility of that is decreasing as early audience reception for the film, while skewing positive, is less enthusiastic than for past films in the Disney remake series. Most notably, the film has earned a B+ on CinemaScore, marking the first time that a Disney remake polled by CinemaScore did not earn an A- or higher from opening day moviegoers.

Meanwhile, early Rotten Tomatoes scores stand at 44% critics and 71% audience. By comparison, the 2023 remake of “The Little Mermaid” stands at 67% critics and 94% audience, while “Mufasa,” which turned a lackluster $35 million domestic opening into a successful $253 million North American total this past holiday season, stands at 57% critics and 89% audience.

Next weekend will reveal whether “Snow White” will have a long theatrical life, as it will be the last weekend where it will have no family or premium format competition before Warner Bros.’ “A Minecraft Movie” is released.

But for now, “Snow White” is the only film that is even grossing more than $5 million this weekend, making up more than half of the estimated overall total of $82 million. Holdovers make up the rest of the top 5.

What hasn’t made the top 5 is Warner Bros.’ “The Alto Knights,” a $50 million crime drama starring Robert De Niro that is bombing with an opening weekend of just $3 million from 2,651 theaters. That’s below the $3.7 million third weekend of another Warner misfire, “Mickey 17,” which has grossed $40 million domestically so far and is just now crossing the $100 million global mark against a reported $118 million production budget.

Based on the lives of real-life crime bosses Frank Costello and Vito Genovese, “The Alto Knights” isn’t impressing critics with a 39% Rotten Tomatoes score.

NEW: ICE confirms to @FoxNews that they arrested Jeanette Vizguerra, a convicted criminal Mexican illegal alien & immigration activist, in Aurora, CO yesterday. ICE confirms she has a final order of removal (deportation order) via a DOJ immigration judge, and has repeatedly had due process, including multiple stays of deportation. She notoriously hid in a Denver church for years to avoid deportation, and she has remained an immigration fugitive.

Despite having a final order of removal stretching back to the Obama administration, several Democrat politicians in Colorado falsely claimed today that Vizguerra has had no due process, including Denver Mayor

@MikeJohnstonCO, who called her arrest a “Putin-style persecution of a political dissident”, and Senator @MichaelBennet, who claimed ICE detained her “without any due process, like a deportation order.”

ICE confirms she does, in fact, have a deportation order, and has had one for years.

Below is the background & criminal history on Vizguerra up until 2019, according to ICE:

•On Feb. 5, 2009, the ICE Denver office lodged an immigration detainer on Vizguerra-Ramirez.

•On Feb. 26, 2009, the Arapahoe County Court, Centennial, Colorado, convicted Vizguerra-Ramirez of forged instrument possession 2nd degree, and sentenced her to a term of 23 days in jail.

•On Feb. 27, 2009, ICE took custody of Vizguerra-Ramirez from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office pursuant to an immigration detainer.

•On March 11, 2009, Vizguerra-Ramirez was released from ICE custody after posting an immigration bond.

•On March 27, 2009, Arapahoe County Court convicted Vizguerra-Ramirez of failure to display proof of insurance and driving without a license and ordered her to pay fines.

•On Nov. 18, 2011, a federal immigration judge denied Vizguerra-Ramirez her application for relief from immigration proceedings, but granted her a voluntary departure (considered an immigration benefit). She failed to depart the U.S. per the terms of the order within the 60-day window and instead filed an appeal with the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) on Dec. 16, 2011.

•On Sept. 8, 2012, Vizguerra-Ramirez self-removed to Mexico.

•On April 22, 2013, U.S. Border Patrol arrested Vizguerra-Ramirez in Candelaria, Texas, after she illegally returned to the U.S., and referred her case for federal prosecution for illegal re-entry after removal (a felony).

•On May 1, 2013, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Pecos Division, convicted Vizguerra-Ramirez of illegal entry (a misdemeanor), and sentenced her to one year of unsupervised probation.

•On May 2, 2013, Vizguerra-Ramirez entered ICE custody in El Paso, Texas, where her prior removal order was reinstated, pending her Dec. 16, 2011, BIA appeal.

•On May 30, 2013, the BIA considered Vizguerra-Ramirez’s case withdrawn because she departed the U.S. prior to a decision being made on her appeal.

•On June 7, 2013, ICE in El Paso released Vizguerra-Ramirez on an order of supervision because under policy at the time she did not meet the agency’s priorities for removal.

•On July 2, 2014, ICE granted Vizguerra-Ramirez’s application for stay of deportation until Feb. 1, 2015.

•On Feb. 20, 2015, ICE in Denver granted Vizguerra application for stay of deportation until Aug. 19, 2015.

•On Feb. 15, 2017, ERO Denver denied another application for stay of deportation. Her counsel notified ICE that she would be taking sanctuary in the First Unitarian Society Church in Denver and would not be reporting to ICE as ordered.

•On May 11, 2017, Vizguerra-Ramirez received an automatic stay of removal due to Senate Bill 603, a private bill submitted on her behalf and her removal was stayed until March 15, 2019. The private bill was not enacted.

•On March 14, 2019, Vizguerra-Ramirez once again sought sanctuary at the First Unitarian Society Church in Denver where she remains an immigration fugitive.
