According to some startling reports, Russian military satellites have apparently launched unknown objects into Earth’s orbit.

Space.com described the trio of Russian satellites as “secretive” objects “whose purpose is unknown.”

“The three satellites, designated Kosmos 2581, 2582 and 2583, launched on a Soyuz-2.1V rocket from Plesetsk cosmodrome early on Feb. 2,” the outlet reports, adding that the satellites “have displayed interesting behavior.”

That behavior includes getting oddly close to other space objects.

That behavior also includes, according to IFL Science, a “new object” being launched into orbit on March 18.

Regardless of which side of the argument any particular American is on, I’ve almost never met one who knows what caused this right to be written in the Constitution.

Countless Americans believe that they have the right to bear arms, so that they can protect themselves and their homes from burglars or other miscreants. Others, particularly those who live in rural areas, believe in the right to go hunting if they wish.

Whilst both of these concerns are reasonable, they’re not by any means the reason why the founding fathers were so adamant that the right to bear arms is critical.

Randy Hillier has successfully defended himself against tickets issued against him by arguing that COVID lockdown restrictions were unjustified violations of the Charter.

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms is pleased that the Ontario Court of Appeal has accepted former Ontario MPP Randy Hillier’s appeal and overturned a lower court ruling that had dismissed his Charter challenge to Ontario’s lockdown regulations. These regulations were in effect during the 2021 COVID lockdowns.

The decision was released by the Ontario Court of Appeal on Monday, April 7, 2025.

In the spring of 2021, Mr. Hillier attended peaceful protests in Kemptville and Cornwall, Ontario. He spoke about the importance of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the harms caused by the province’s lockdown regulations. The government’s health orders made it illegal for even two people to assemble together outdoors: a blatant and unjustified restriction of the Charter section 2(c) freedom of peaceful assembly. Other provinces allowed five or ten or more people to gather together outdoors.

Mr. Hillier has outstanding charges in Kemptville, Cornwall, Peterborough, Belleville, and Smith Falls. Prosecutors in those jurisdictions are waiting to see the results of this Charter challenge. Mr. Hillier has faced similar charges in many other jurisdictions across Ontario, but these have been stayed or withdrawn at the request of the respective prosecutors.

Mr. Hillier defended himself against the tickets that were issued to him for violating lockdown restrictions by arguing that these lockdown regulations were unjustified violations of Charter section 2(c), which protects freedom of peaceful assembly. Continue…

The lawsuit was filed by the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) on behalf of a nonpartisan group called Canadian Women’s Sex-Based Rights (CAWSBAR) in Canada’s Federal Court in Toronto, Ontario, on April 7, 2025.

The lawsuit states that allowing confused males who claim to be female to use female-only prison spaces is “cruel and unusual punishment and violates the Charter rights of female inmates, including ‘their right to be protected from mental, physical, and sexual abuse’.”

According to research published on April 6 by the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ), abortions using the drug mifepristone have increased from 8 percent in 2017 to 56 percent in 2022.

“The impact of this rapid change in abortion practice on the availability of abortion services, especially for rural and remote communities, is not well understood,” the research explained. “Mifepristone availability led to a rapid increase in the number of abortion providers, including providers in rural areas.”

According to the research, of the 175,000 women seeking abortions between 2017 and 2022, 84,000 of them underwent chemical abortions.

At this time, increasing numbers of Canadian pharmacies began dispensing the dangerous drug, with the percentage of faculties filling a prescription for the drug increasing from three percent in 2017 to 20 percent in 2022.

Calgary-based South Bow Corp. says it estimates 3,500 barrels were released, equivalent to more than 556,000 litres.

South Bow says its control centre detected a pressure drop on Tuesday morning and the system that brings Alberta crude to U.S. markets was immediately shut.

The spill happened in a rural field about 100 kilometres southwest of Fargo, N.D.

South Bow says it has set up round-the-clock air and environmental monitoring and that it is now focused on cleanup.

Randy Ollenberger, head of oil and gas research at BMO Capital Markets, says the shutdown isn’t affecting Canadian heavy oil pricing yet as there is ample room in storage tanks in Hardisty, Alta.

“As long as we don’t have Keystone down so long that storage tanks start to fill up to capacity, it may not have much impact on the market,” he said Tuesday.

Ontario is proposing the expansion of “strong mayor powers” to the leaders of 169 new municipalities starting May 1, effectively tripling the number of mayors possessing such authority.

The proposed expansion comes as Ontario is struggling to meet the pace required to achieve its goal of building 1.5 million homes by 2031.

Municipal Affairs Minister Robert Flack said in a release that the move would enable more mayors to propose and pass bylaws with the backing of one-third of council at a time when the province is looking to boost the building of homes, transit and other infrastructure across Ontario. Continue…

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has launched a Canada-wide warrant for a violent offender with a history of attacking children, just weeks after his release from prison to a Toronto residential facility.

The OPP’s Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad said 44-year-old Simon Gares, whom Toronto police has previously identified as a threat to public safety, is wanted for breaching the terms of his statutory release.

The nation-wide warrant was issued April 8, nearly two weeks after Toronto police issued an advisory about Gares’ release from prison, describing him as a “high-risk offender” who has “demonstrated risk to the community, including children.” Continue…

Tariffs introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump could increase costs for snowbirds at the border, depending on the items they choose to bring home, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) said in a recent advisory.

The tariffs Trump enacted on Canadian goods, along with Canada’s counter-tariffs on certain U.S. products, mean snowbirds will encounter not only the usual duties or taxes at the border but also an additional surcharge on items not covered under the North American free trade agreement, the agency said.
