Russia, Ukraine Agree To US-Brokered 'Ceasefire At Sea'

Washington and Moscow are seeking to revive the Black Sea Grain deal, which had held for much of 2022, allowing Ukraine to ship its grain and agricultural products to global markets.

The White House on Tuesday published two readouts from successive days of talks in Riyadh with Russian and Ukrainian delegations, which feature a ceasefire at sea "to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea."

And even as the two warring sides continue to send drones and missiles against the other, the US said that all involved have agreed to "develop measures for implementing” the earlier agreement to stop strikes against energy infrastructure." But have they actually agreed? Both sides are saying yes but once again this could be very short-lived.

New CDC Nominee Is a Career Govt Scientist Backed by Biden COVID Advisor.

Dr. Susan Monarez has been tapped as the new nominee to serve as the director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) after the abrupt withdrawal of Dr. Dave Weldon’s nomination earlier this month. While Weldon—a former Republican Congressman from Florida and medical doctor—was seen as a skeptic of the public health establishment and the pharmaceutical industry’s influence over government, the decision to replace him with Dr. Monarez raises concerns that serious reform of the CDC is being abandoned.

Currently the acting director of the CDC, Dr. Susan Monarez does represent a slight departure from traditional director nominees in that she is not a medical doctor. Instead, the federal government scientist holds a Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology.

Additionally, Monarez—who joined the federal government in 2006—has not worked in traditional public health policy roles. Instead, the government scientist has primarily worked with the National Security Council, the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Before moving to the CDC, Dr. Monarez was the deputy director of the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), where she oversaw research into artificial intelligence (AI) and health technology.

A SWAMPY CHOICE.

Monarez’s resume objectively suggests she is an unusually ‘swampy’ choice to be elevated to a position that will require spearheading significant policy reform. Her potential ties to entrenched intelligence community and technology interests could draw scrutiny from lawmakers during her Senate confirmation hearing. Additionally, her nomination has received concerning praise from public health officials tied to the former Biden government’s COVID-19 response, notably from Dr. Tom Inglesby of Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Inglesby, who directs the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, advised the Biden government on its COVID-19 response and consulted with the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Defense (DoD). After Monarez’s nomination as CDC Director was announced yesterday, Inglesby praised the choice, calling Monarez “a very good scientist and a very capable person.” He added: “She’s very committed to public health and good government. Politics is not her thing… I think she will be a strong leader for the CDC.”Ultimately, Dr. Monarez’s nomination likely resulted from her being a safe choice following Senate Republican resistance to the Weldon nomination over his views on potential links between vaccines and autism. In a statement on the withdrawal, Weldon said he believed opposition from Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA) likely sunk his nomination.

Sam Altman teams up with Visa to build stablecoin wallet for Worldcoin

Sam Altman is taking bold steps to merge the worlds of traditional finance and crypto. The OpenAI CEO is reportedly in talks with Visa to develop a new stablecoin wallet tied to the Worldcoin ecosystem. This partnership is shaping up to be a game-changer for both industries.

The wallet, known as the World Wallet, will offer a wide range of features, including foreign exchange services, fiat on-ramps, and the ability to make stablecoin payments across Visa’s global merchant network. In short, it’s being designed to act as a “mini bank account” with a crypto twist. For everyday consumers, this means the ability to engage in financial transactions that blend traditional banking systems with digital currencies.

Visa’s involvement is key. The global payment giant has already made significant strides in the crypto space, integrating stablecoins like USDC for cross-border payments and supporting blockchain networks such as Solana. This collaboration with Altman’s World Network could be just the push Visa needs to solidify its foothold in the booming crypto market.

World Network is not stopping with just the wallet. The platform already includes World ID, a biometric identification system, and World Chat, a secure messaging app. These elements are part of a broader vision to create a unified system for identity verification, communication, and financial transactions. If executed well, it could offer a comprehensive, secure, and accessible platform that bridges the gap between traditional finance and the ever-evolving world of digital currencies.

The Fed’s OWN Data Shows It Is Lying About Inflation and Tariffs

The Fed SHOULD have cut rates last week.

That is a fact.

Instead, the Fed stated it is on “hold” for rate cuts because the potential tariffs the Trump administration introduces might trigger inflation.

This is 100% nonsense.

Europe, Japan, China, and countless other nations have introduced tariffs, duties and other trade restrictions in the past with ZERO uptick in inflation.

Moreover, there is NO evidence that inflation expectations are on the rise. The five year forward inflation expectations is THE gold standard for measuring inflation expectations.

Do you see an uptick here? I don’t.

This is a MAJOR screwup, and it’s only a matter of time before the Fed breaks something. When this happens, the Fed will be forced to panic ease monetary conditions triggering one of the greatest wealth building opportunities in years.

Patrouille de France: Two jets collide during training

Emergencyservices are attending the scene of an incident following the crash of two Alpha Jets inFrance. One witness told broadcaster BMFTV: "We saw black smoke." Footage shared online by Aero Gazette appeared to show the moments after the collision. An accompanying comment said it had involved two Patrouille de France aircraft.

Le Monde quoted a French Air Force source as saying the two aircraft "apparently collided" at 3.35 pm near Air Base 113 in Saint-Dizier (Haute-Marne).The two pilots and one passenger were able to eject and were "found conscious," it added. Interior Minister Sebastian Lecornu, also posting onX, said emergency services had been mobilized, with the armed forces and his ministry coordinating their efforts.

AFP said two of those involved were taken to the hospital in Saint-Dizier while the third, described as a "multi-trauma sufferer", was being treated by the army. One of the planes crashed into a silo where a fire is being extinguished, with no civilian casualties, the same source added.

A post by Prefet De Vosges, the regional government, said: "Aircraft accident in the Harmonville sector, the departmental operational center is activated in support of the armed forces to coordinate rescue operations. Avoid the area and follow the instructions of the authorities."

The Alpha Jet is a French-made light attack and advanced trainer aircraft, designed primarily for close air support and training roles.

Developed by Dassault Aviation and Aerospatiale in the 1970s, the jet has been a versatile component of the French Air Force and several other air forces around the world.

Sen. Schumer: 'My Job is to Keep the Left Pro-Israel'

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told the New York Times' Bret Stephens that his "job" is to "keep the left pro-Israel."

From The New York Times, March 18, "Chuck Schumer Isn't Jewish Like the Pope Isn't Catholic":

I had already interviewed Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democratic leader, for his new book, "Antisemitism in America: A Warning," when President Trump accused him of being "a Palestinian" who was "not Jewish anymore." A few days later, Schumer decided to postpone his book tour after joining Republicans to support a stopgap spending bill to avoid a government shutdown — one that would have played straight into Trump's hands. Furious progressives were threatening a demonstration at every stop.

Derided by the MAGA right and yelled at by the far left? Outside of Katz's Delicatessen, it's hard to imagine a more Jewish place to be.

[…] Harvard was also the place where Schumer first saw left-wing antisemitism in action — using the cloak of anti-Zionism, as it often does today. At a 1970 campus speech by the Israeli foreign minister, Abba Eban, students in the gallery unfurled a banner that read, Fight Zionist Imperialism. Schumer's book recalls Eban's reply:

"I am talking to you up there in the gallery," Eban said. "Every time a people get their statehood, you applaud it. There's only one people, when they gain statehood, who you don't applaud, you condemn it — and that is the Jewish people." The double standard — whether it was about who could work in what profession or move to Moscow in the Czarist empire, or who could have a state — was the essence of antisemitism.

[…] It's notable, and politically gutsy, that Schumer's book devotes plenty of space to exposing leftist antisemitism, including calling out congressional colleagues like Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota for antisemitic outbursts. He also calls out campus anti-Israel demonstrators, like a protester at a U.C.L.A. rally screaming, "Beat that fucking Jew" next to a piñata bearing the likeness of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, or a masked thug at Columbia telling Jewish students that "the seventh of October is going to be every day for you."

Does Schumer worry that his party is tilting in an anti-Israel direction — one that will, at its edges, also tilt into antisemitism? "My caucus is overwhelmingly pro-Israel," he insisted to me, noting that when the Senate last year voted for "the largest package of aid to Israel ever, I only lost three Democrats," including Bernie Sanders, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats.

But he also warned that "the greatest danger to Israel, long-term, is if you lose half of America" — the liberal half. On one of Netanyahu's previous visits to the United States, Schumer told me he urged the prime minister to "go on Rachel Maddow and not just Sean Hannity." Netanyahu ignored the advice, and Schumer, in a Senate speech, later called for new elections to replace him, for which he remains "fiercely proud." It showed Democrats, he said, that it's possible to oppose Netanyahu while championing the Jewish state.

"My job," he told me, "is to keep the left pro-Israel."

[…] A Jew stands up for his people regardless of the cost, and regardless of the politics of it. On this, Schumer has acquitted himself bravely.

If anyone else said this, Schumer himself would denounce them for spreading an "anti-Semitic trope."

Just quoting him word-for-word is enough to be denounced on the same grounds.

The fact Schumer's actual constituents along with the vast majority of the Democrats overwhelmingly oppose Israel is not even mentioned in Stephens' piece.

US seeks full dismantlement of Irans nuclear program, Trumps advisor says

Certainly as far as foreign policy is concerned, it seems that the Israelis are dictating the Trump administration’s policies.

Thus, instead of trying to rein in Netanyahu’s genocidal campaign in Gaza, the Trump administration has authorized the sale of bunker buster munitions and other ordnance to Israel.

Without such provisions the killing in Gaza would simply grind to a halt. This makes the Trump administration and America complicit in the ongoing slaughter.

Likewise, instead of openly negotiating with Iran over its nuclear program, the Trump administration is simply issuing demands and deadlines.

The latest demand by White House National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, is for a “full dismantlement” of Iran’s nuclear program.

Tehran is unlikely to comply and the imperious tone of the latest U.S. demand will likely only strengthen Iranian resolve to resist.

The Jews are losing the social media war against antisemitism (aka the truth)and have no plan to win - opinion

It is now time for the Jewish people to start thinking about how we use technology and our gift for innovation to defend our people and our country in the online war for public opinion.

In February 2025, Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies published a poll showing that 46% of people between the ages of 18 and 24 in the United States supported Hamas – not the Palestinians, but Hamas. The same poll showed that 39% of this same demographic opposed the unconditional release of the Israeli hostages.

How did we ever get to this situation?

In an October 2024 poll of Americans, Pew Research found that “adults under the age or 30 are as likely to trust information from social media as they are to trust national media outlets.” A poll two months before found that 52% of people between the ages of 18 and 29 got their political news from TikTok and 50% of users of X said that they regularly get their “news” from that platform.

What is the “news” about Jews and Israel that the “under 30s” are seeing on social media?

Nonprofit antisemitism monitoring platform Cyberwell reported in late 2024 that 11 months after the October 7 attacks there had been a “36% increase in online Jew-hatred” and a “doubling in outright calls to violence against Jews.” None of this is happening by chance. The speed of which antisemitic content is created, the consistency of the messaging and the specific targeting of younger people unambiguously reflects a well thought out and well managed social media strategy. One Palestinian advocate has called this coordinated effort the “Instafada: social media as resistance.” Another noted that its strategic use of “social media….. has empowered laypeople to coordinate, take to the streets in protest, build encampment protests on universities, initiate petitions and fundraisers, disrupt politicians, stop arms factories, and revive the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign (which has ultimately affected the profits of corporations like Starbucks and McDonald’s).”

Ex-cyber chief: 'Q-day' could lead to hacking of nuclear weapons

“What will be the October 7 in the cyber space and are we ready for it? To meet this kind of challenge, we need to build better resilience, improve the culture of sharing, change all of the time."

“Q-day” in 2025 could lead to the hacking of countries’ nuclear weapons programs, former Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) chief Yigal Unna warned on Tuesday at the Cybertech Conference in Tel Aviv.

Regarding Q-day, the question is whether jumps in quantum computing will cross a threshold in 2025 which will allow hacking of virtually all existing online platforms that are based on RSA encryption at the heart of most of the internet.

While some observers believe that this threshold will only be crossed in the coming years, Unna said there were signs that it might have already been crossed, flagging that the Chinese cracked a military grade computer defense system in late 2024.

Unna recounted that in February the Israel Innovation Authority warned all government ministries to map out their vulnerabilities and plans for defending those vulnerabilities from potential future quantum computing hacking threats.

He was INCD chief from 2018-early 2022, after which Unna was replaced by Gaby Portnoy, who was INCD chief from early 2022 until February, including during the current war.

Cyber's October 7

“What will be the October 7 in the cyber space and are we ready for it? To meet this kind of challenge, we need to build better resilience, improve the culture of sharing, change all of the time…It’s not just about critical infrastructure…but we must also look at our supply chain, our service providers, and the wider range of small and medium business,” said Portnoy.

Next, Portnoy said that the INCD showed its strength conducting an “orchestra” of cyber defense along with the IDF, Shin Bet, and other security agencies to protect Israel from hacking attacks during the war.

He added that for cybersecurity: “Never wait until it is too late.”

Current Acting INCD chief Nitzan Amar said that despite a 300% spike in cyber attacks against Israel by Iran and Hezbollah during the war, “we managed a zero success of major attacks against the Israeli cyber space since October 7.

Amar said that Israel’s enemies “could not harm Israeli national infrastructure or IDF operational freedom.”

President Isaac Herzog told the conference that there are “so many technological revolutions every day and the war hasn’t changed that,” adding that it also has not changed that, “Israel remains a leader in global innovation.”

Anti-Zionist, But Not Anti-Semitic

I don’t like labels. If you call someone a conspiracy theorist or a terrorist or an anti-semite, you are engaged in the lazy use of language for the sole purpose of trying to discredit the person who is the target of your epithet. I find the terms, right-wing and left-wing, completely useless. They are 20th Century relics and should be tossed on the trash heap of history.

What about the term, anti-Zionist? Okay, I am guilty. I am opposed to the idea / belief that a deity has designated one group of people for special treatment above all others. I do not subscribe to the belief that the Torah / Pentateuch / Old Testament entitles people who identify as Jewish to lay claim to the lands of Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Syria, portions of eastern Egypt and portions of Iraq. The Torah was written by Jewish scholars who were in exile in Babylon. I do not believe that a deity dictated nor wrote the Torah. It is the work of men from a particular ethnic background and a particular point in time.

Unfortunately, the words in that ancient text are being interpreted today as irrefutable promises by a Supreme Being that grants a particular class of people the right to destroy other people. In other words, Jews have the right to destroy Amalek because it says so in the Torah and Pentateuch.

Israel is commanded to destroy Amalek in several instances in the Hebrew Bible:

In Exodus 17:14-16, after the Amalekites attacked the Israelites as they were escaping from Egypt, God declares that He will “utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven” and that “the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation”.

In Deuteronomy 25:17-19, Moses reminds the Israelites of Amalek’s attack and instructs them to “blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven” once they have settled in the Promised Land.

.The most explicit command comes in 1 Samuel 15:2-3, where God instructs King Saul through the prophet Samuel to “attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.”

This command for complete destruction, including civilians and animals, is referred to in Hebrew as ḥeremḥerem, meaning “devotion to destruction” or “ban”. The reasons given for this severe judgment include Amalek’s unprovoked attack on Israel during the Exodus and their continued hostility towards the Israelites over generations.

More than 200,000 businesses have closed in the last year because of Starmer’s policies

203,000 UK businesses have closed since the Labour government took office, marking a sharp acceleration in business failures.

Economists and industry leaders attribute this to Labour’s policies, including rising taxes, excessive regulation, labour shortages and falling consumer confidence.

The government’s actions have led to a decline in business confidence, with critics arguing that Labour’s “pro-business” rhetoric is inconsistent with its policies, which are perceived as hostile to enterprise and investment.

Economists and industry leaders have pointed to a series of Labour policies that have created a hostile environment for businesses. Among the most frequently cited issues are:

Rising taxes, including corporation tax increases and the imposition of VAT on private education and other sectors.

Excessive regulation, including new compliance requirements, red tape for employers and centralised oversight schemes.

Labour shortages, compounded by immigration policy confusion and disincentives to work.

Falling consumer confidence, with shoppers tightening their belts in the face of economic uncertainty.
