Bible Do Not Swear

In the Bible, particularly in Matthew 5:34, Jesus advises his followers not to swear oaths at all. He says, "But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King".

This command is part of the Sermon on the Mount and emphasizes the importance of being truthful without the need for oaths. Jesus suggests that one's word should be reliable enough to be taken at face value, with a simple "Yes" or "No".

The context of this teaching is to encourage a higher standard of honesty and integrity, where one's word alone is sufficient and does not require the backing of an oath.
