Trump Pauses Green Card Applications to Better Vet Refugees Brought to U.S. by Biden

John Binder 25 Mar 2025

President Donald Trump’s United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is pausing some green card applications, including refugees brought to the United States by former President Joe Biden, to better screen and vet applicants.

“To better identify fraud, public safety, or national security concerns, USCIS is placing a temporary pause on finalizing certain Adjustment of Status applications pending the completion of additional screening and vetting,” a spokesperson for the agency told Breitbart News:

This is in alignment with Presidential Executive Order 14161, Protecting the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats, and the presidential action Designating Cartels And Other Organizations As Foreign Terrorist Organizations And Specially Designated Global Terrorists. [Emphasis added]

The pause, first reported by CBS News, will include hundreds of thousands of refugees brought to the U.S. by the Biden administration — including perhaps some Afghan refugees — who are now looking to adjust status and secure green cards.

Likewise, some immigrants who secured asylum under the Biden administration have also had their green card application processes halted for the time being.

In late January, Trump signed an executive order suspending all refugee resettlement to the U.S. after the Biden administration imported hundreds of thousands of refugees and migrants who were given humanitarian parole.

Though non-governmental organizations (NGOS) and a federal judge out of Seattle, Washington, sued to prevent Trump from halting refugee admissions, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will allow the administration to carry out its executive order.

Judge Boasberg Allows Tren de Aragua Migrants to Appeal ‘Alien Enemies’ Deportations

Neil Munro 24 Mar 20251/2

Tren de Aragua migrants must be allowed to appeal their deportations ordered under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, Judge James Boasberg ruled Monday. The ruling is likely to be appealed — in part, because President DonaldTrump’s deputies say the judiciary has no role when the President invokes the 1798 act to deport aliens amid an invasion or a “predatory incursion” of the United States.

“This is unconstitutional,” responded Stephen Miller, the President’s deputy chief of staff.

The judge’s decision did not challenge the 1798 law itself but argued that migrants can claim they are not covered by the president’s application of the Alien Enemies Act to Venezuelan members of the Tren de Aragua criminal gang:

Plaintiffs are likely to succeed on [an] equal fundamental theory: before they may be deported, they are entitled to individualized hearings to determine whether the Act applies to them at all. As the government itself concedes, the awesome power granted by the Act may be brought only to bear on those who are in fact, “alien enemies.” And the Supreme Court and this [D.C] circuit have long maintained that federal courts are equipped to adjudicate that question when individuals threatened with detention and removal challenge their designation as such. Because the named Plaintiffs dispute that they are members of Tren de Aragua, they may not be deported until a court has been able to decide the merits of their challenge. Nor may any member of the provisionally surveyed class be removed until they have the opportunity to challenge their designation as well. The Motion to Vacate will thus be denied.

Trump’s deputies have deported more than 200 Venezuelan migrants under the act to a detention center in El Salvador. The deported are said to be members of the violent Tren de Aragua criminal gang that were allowed entry by Biden’s border chief, Alejandro Mayorkas.

Trump and his deputies are pushing hard to prevent the courts from blocking their campaign to roll back President Joe Biden’s welcome for at least 9 million “inadmissible” migrants during his four years in office. Axios.com reported on March 23:Many top legal experts believe a full-blown constitutional showdownbetween President Trump and the courts is already here. Others are confident there’s still room to avoid one. But most agree that the administration’s battle with U.S. District Judge James “Jeb” Boasberg — who last weekend ordered a temporary halt to the administration’s deportation of alleged Venezuelan gang members — is a significant escalation. …

The Justice Department asked that Boasberg and another federal judge, U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell, be removed from pending cases — requests that are almost never granted. Trump said the Senate should impeach Boasberg, which drew a rare rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts.

Early Monday morning, Trump slammed Boasberg on his TruthSocial network:

This Judge is almost as conflicted (actually, not even close!) as the Judge whose daughter made Millions of Dollars representing Biden/Harris against me, while her father presided over a Fake Case against me, and refused to RECUSE himself. He should be disbarred! Crooked Alvin Bragg was the D.A. in the case. They put me under a GAG ORDER so that I could not talk about it. Miscarriage of Justice!!!

Boasberg was nominated by President George W. Bush and is the top judge in the federal court for D.C. That is a critical job because the court handles many lawsuits related to government actions and regulations.

The 1798 law is one of the many sections in U.S. immigration law that have fallen into disuse because their original purposes were no longer relevant. For example, new citizens are still required to swear they were neither Nazi camp guards nor members of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

The law says [emphasis added]:

Whenever there is a declared war between the United States and any foreign nation or government, or any invasion or predatory incursion is perpetrated, attempted, or threatened against the territory of the United States by any foreign nation or government, and the President makes public proclamation of the event, all natives, citizens, denizens, or subjects of the hostile nation or government, being of the age of fourteen years and upward, who shall be within the United States and not actually naturalized, shall be liable to be apprehended, restrained, secured, and removed as alien enemies.

The President is authorized in any such event, by his proclamation thereof, or other public act, to direct the conduct to be observed on the part of the United States, toward the aliens who become so liable; the manner and degree of the restraint to which they shall be subject and in what cases, and upon what security their residence shall be permitted, and to provide for the removal of those who, not being permitted to reside within the United States, refuse or neglect to depart therefrom; and to establish any other regulations which are found necessary in the premises and for the public safety.

The case is J.G.G. vs Trump, Civil Action No. 25-766 (JEB) in the federal District Court of D.C.

West-Coast Judges Say Trump Admin Must Take In Refugees and Pay for Their Housing

Neil Munro 26 Mar 2025

A trio of federal judges in California declared on Tuesday that President Donald Trump must welcomeroughly 40,000 refugeesapproved by President Joe Biden’s deputies.“We welcome this continued relief for tens of thousands of refugees who will now have the opportunity to restart their lives in the United States,” said Melissa Keaney, the progressive lawyer for the elite-funded, anti-borders International Refugee Assistance Project.

In a second courtroom in Seattle, another federal judge ordered the Trump administration to keep paying the quasi-government agencies that settle the refugees in Americans’ crowded housing, schools, and workplaces, such as in Springfield, Ohio.

The judges’ policy preferences are likely to be appealed by Trump’s deputies. The decisions contradict his legal claim that presidents have full authority over who gets to cross the U.S. borders. The judges’ views also contradict Trump’s election mandate to reduce the civic burden of migration.

But the progressives’ lawsuits aregood news for their allies among the nation’s meatpacking companies. Many of the companies rely on the progressives to supply them with cheap, subsidized, and healthy workers to replace prior refugees worn by tough working conditions in the plants, where chains on the disassembly lines often deliver 300 carcasses per hour.

Without the progressive-delivered refugees, the companies would be forced to buy more high-tech robots and hire better-paid Americans to operate the robots. Biden’sdeputies imported 197,000 refugees by October 2024and hoped toimport more than 125,000 during the next 12 months via a fast-track process at a cost of more than $2.5 billion.

There may be many refugees approved by Biden but still outside the country. “As of September … more than 40,400 had been approved for U.S. refugee status,” the Migration Policy Institute reported in October 2024. Trump suspended the refugee programs on January 20, saying in Executive Order 14163:

• By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), 8 U.S.C. 1101 et seq., and section 301 of title 3, United States Code, it is hereby ordered:

• Section 1. Purpose. Over the last 4 years, the United States has been inundated with record levels of migration, including through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). Cities and small towns alike, from Charleroi, Pennsylvania, and Springfield, Ohio, to Whitewater, Wisconsin, have seen significant influxes of migrants. Even major urban centers such as New York City, Chicago, and Denver have sought Federal aid to manage the burden of new arrivals. Some jurisdictions, like New York and Massachusetts, have even recently declared states of emergency because of increased migration.

• The United States lacks the ability to absorb large numbers of migrants, and in particular, refugees, into its communities in a manner that does not compromise the availability of resources for Americans, that protects their safety and security, and that ensures the appropriate assimilation of refugees. This order suspends the USRAP until such time as the further entry into the United States of refugees aligns with the interests of the United States.

• “I therefore direct that entry into the United States of refugees under the USRAP be suspended,” the President ordered. Cont….

The three California judges acknowledged that Trump has the authorityto decide how many refugees to accept during his term, but they also argued that Trump’s Executive Order did not actually stop the inflow of the migrants approved by Biden’s deputies:Executive Order No. 14163 does not purport to revoke the refugee status of individuals who received that status under the United States Refugee Admissions Program prior to January 20, 2025.

The Seattle judge declared that Trump did not properly explain his cut-off of funding to the refugee agencies that deliver the refugees into the empty slots besides that chains that pull animal carcasses through the slaughterhouses: The Government’s sudden termination of decades-old agreements without reasoned explanation likely constitutes arbitrary and capricious action that must be set aside. Without immediate relief, refugees remain stranded abroad, families separated, and resettlement agencies shuttered.

The Government contends these terminations are mere contract disputes beyond this Court’s jurisdiction, but this argument fundamentally misapprehends the nature of Plaintiffs’ claims. Rather than seeking contractual remedies,Plaintiffs ask this Court to enforce statutory obligations through its inherent equitable powers—authority that Congress specifically reinforces in the Administrative Procedure Act by empowering courts to “issue all necessary and appropriate process” to prevent irreparable injury.

Breitbart News described the civic damage deliberately caused by Biden’s deputies to many American towns, such as Whitewater in Pennsylvania, as well as Springfield and Lockland in Ohio. The government-funded contractors celebrated the Seattle judge’s directive to restore their funding.

Huckabee Stands Up to Hollering Protesters, Senator Van Hollen

Joel B. Pollak 25 Mar 2025

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arkansas defended his record and endured hollering protesters from the gallery,as well as hostile questions from Sen. Chris van Hollen (D-MD), during his confirmation hearing Tuesday for the post of U.S. Ambassador to Israel.

Huckabee, thefirst evangelical Christian nominated for the role, sat patiently as he was interrupted multiple times, leading the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to demand order.

Van Hollen, who has emerged as one of the most anti-Israel members of the Senate, offered somewhat more articulate but no less implacable objections to Huckabee’s nomination. He questioned the nominee on his past statements about the disputed territories of Judea and Samaria (the “West Bank”), which Huckabee has said belong to Israel.

Huckabee clarified thathe was referring to the Jewish right to the land according to the Bible, not U.S. policy. He also stressed that he would follow the Trump administration’s policy, and not his own views.

Van Hollen pressed Huckabee on whether Palestinians would have the right to vote if Israel annexed the territory.

Huckabee did not say, except to say that they would live freely, and that they would not be removed from the land.

Huckabee stressed that President Trump was hoping to expand on the Abraham Accords in seeking peace in the Middle East.

Former Target Exec Storch: Trump Tariff Concerns ‘Grossly Exaggerated’

Pam Key 25 Mar 2025

Former Target Corporation executive and Toys ‘R’ Us CEO Gerald Storch said Tuesday on Fox Business Network’s “Varney and Company” that concerns over President Donald Trump’s tariffs have been “grossly exaggerated.”

Host Stuart Varney said, “You ran one of the biggest toy stores in the world. How would you have handled the present situation if you could expect China made toys to go up 10 to 15% in price? How would you handle it?”

Storch said, “Well, first of all, they’re not going to go up 10 to 15 or 20% in price, but no, I think this whole thing with the tariffs is grossly exaggerated by a factor of at least two.”

He continued, “The tariffs are only in the cost of goods. They’re not on the retail price. So you put a tariff on the cost of the goods of 20%, it doesn’t mean the retail price goes up by 20%, not unless you can buy everything at a cost somewhere.

Additionally, when they put tariffs on toys back in the first Trump administration, studies show 87% of the increase was borne by the Chinese manufacturers. China has a huge toy industry and they have everything to gain and nothing to lose by keeping the sale rather than have it moved to America, like a lot of it will do. Additionally, there are substitute products, you know, products that you can sell that are made in the U.S. instead of differences, promote those. And then, of course, there will be transfers, some sales to the U.S.”

Storch added, “I think people are hysterical. It’s not nearly the magnitude of what they’re talking about. And keep in mind, the retailers are going to do just fine no matter what happens. Because if they have to pass on a cost increase, they all will at the same time. And so prices will go up, their costs won’t go up in terms of labor and rent and things like that proportionally, and they’re going to do just fine.

But I don’t think it’s going to go up nearly by as much as people say for all the reasons just outlined. And meanwhile, if it starts to do that, keep in mind, President Trump and his group, they can change. They’ve shown they’ll do that. They can be flexible and not doing this really damaging.”

President Trump Directs the Declassification and Release of FBI Russiagate Files – Essentially, “the Mar-a-Lago Binder”

March 26, 2025 | Sundance1/2

Yesterday President Donald Trump signed an executive order targeting: “Immediate Declassification of Materials Related to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Crossfire Hurricane Investigation.” [ORDER TEXT HERE]

Within the XO President Trump informs the Attorney General (Pam Bondi) the Director of National Intelligence (Tulsi Gabbard), and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (John Ratcliffe),“I have determined that all of the materials referenced in the Presidential Memorandum of January 19, 2021 (Declassification of Certain Materials Related to the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane Investigation), are no longer classified.”

However, there’s an important set of qualifiers.

“I have further determined that the material proposed for redaction by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a cover letter dated January 17, 2021, remains classified.

My decision to declassify the materials described abovedoes not extend to materials that must be protected from disclosure pursuant to orders of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Courtand does not require the disclosure of certain personally identifiable information or any other materials that must be protected from disclosure under applicable law.” (link)

Caution is warranted. Yes, there may be a few new items, perhaps a few redactions removed on previously released items, but essentially this is likely be a rehash of assembled component parts we have already discussed at length. In essence, this sounds like the Mar-a-Lago ten-inch binder content the FBI was previously trying to get back.

There is also a possibility the FISA Court has ordered some materials related to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, sealed by the FISC. President Trump does not extend his order to these materials.

There is a certain likelihood the CIA holds foreign intelligence equities that tangentially supports the origin of the Crossfire Hurricane targeting. We already know officials and intelligence operations from the U.K, Australia, Italy and Israel were involved in the 2016 operation against Trump. President Trump does not extend his order to these materials, because the equity ownership of the classified material rests in the foreign intelligence services.

The ODNI, DOJ and FBI are ordered to release their classified equities, and we may glean some new insight or confirmation from the intelligence documents those agencies created. However, I would not expect to see anything remarkably new, given the qualifiers contained within the Executive Order. [Example: I would not expect to see the full unredacted outline of Lisa Page and Peter Strzok’s text messages.]

Perhaps we may see a transcript of the FBI created “Flynn cuts.” This is the transcript between then Nat Sec Advisor Michael Flynn and then Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak; that was an FBI intercept. I doubt highly the Carter Page FISA application would be released in unredacted form, because it appears to be covered by the XO qualifiers related to the FISC.

So, absent the communication from foreign governments to the CIA, and absent the CIA internal documentation – which is going to be light anyway even if released, the DOJ and FBI background source materialon Crossfire Hurricane is likely to be the only material contained in any release.

That said, it would be awesome if there was more, and even if it is only confirmational stuff perhaps more people will awaken to the biggest scandal in American political history.

Which is to say, the prior Obama administration used government agencies (CIA, FBI, DOJ) to target and spy-on the leading candidate for their political opposition in a presidential election.

After their 2016 efforts failed, everything else that followed was a cover-up operationto hide the fact that the Obama administration used the CIA, DOJ and FBI to target, spy-on and ultimately remove their political opposition.

All participants from the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branch then operated to protect themselves from President Trump’s capability to expose the operation in 2017. Special Counsel Robert Mueller was used for this aspect, and post Mueller the impeachment process was triggered. The use of Lawfare was part of the cover. The targeting never stopped.

Guess Which DC Judge Was Just Assigned to SignalGate Lawsuit

March 26, 2025 | Sundance |

I doubt anyone in their correct and intellectually honest mind would believe this DC drawing assigning Judge James Boasberg to the recently filed lawsuit against the Trump national security cabinet members on the signal chat, was random.

There are 20 judges in the DC pool eligible to hear the case [CASE DETAILS HERE] and with a 1:20 chance, Judge James Boasberg was assigned.

American Oversight is a left-wing Lawfare outlet who sue President Trump while sipping coffee daily. This time they are suing the administration toforce govt preservation of the Signal app ‘non-classified’ chatmessages that have already been published to the public.

The lawsuit issue is made moot by the Atlantic publication of the chat. But I’m sure Boasberg will find a way to affirm the lawsuit and assign attorney fee damages to the Lawfare plaintiff.

WASHINGTON DC – U.S. District Judge James Boasberg — the object of President Donald Trump’s fury for blocking his effort to summarily deport Venezuelan nationals using wartime powers — just got a second crack at the administration’s handling of national security: Signalgate.

Boasberg on Wednesday morning was assigned to preside over a lawsuit alleging thatTrump cabinet secretaries and national security aides violatedfederal record-keeping laws when they used a Signal chat group to discuss a planned military strike in Yemen — and inadvertently included an Atlantic journalist in the group.
