Laser Strikes on Aircraft Continue to be Dangerously High
March 26, 2025
In 2024, pilots reported 12,840 laser strikes to the Federal Aviation Administration last year.
While that is a 3 percent decrease from 2023, the numbers are still too high.
The FAA explains the dangers and consequences about aiming an aircraft at a laser.

Did Someone Attempt to Murder a Key Witness in the Sheng Thao Corruption Case?
8:00 PM | March 25, 2025
This is a crazy story and it's not completely clear what is happening here but it looks as if someone might have attempted to murder a key witness in an FBI corruption investigation in Oakland.
Last June the FBI raided the home of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao. At the time it wasn't clearly why or whether Thao was even a target of the investigation.
Thao was defiant and claimed she would be cleared once the investigation was complete, but that's not what happened.
Mayor Thao was recalled by the voters in November and then in January of this year she was indicted for corruption along with her longtime partner and two men who held contracts for recycling with the city.
According to the indictment filed Jan. 9, 2025, in the weeks leading up to the City of Oakland mayoral election in November 2022 and following her election as mayor, Thao promised to take official actions as the mayor of Oakland to benefit David Duong and Andy Duong, in exchange for the Duongs providing various benefits to Thao and Jones.
David Duong was the president and CEO of a recycling company that provided residential recycling collection services to Oakland households, and was also the chairman and co-owner of a housing company formed to develop and manufacture prefabricated modular homes.
Andy Duong, David Duong’s son, was an employee of the recycling company and also a founder and co-owner of the housing company.
The indictment describes that Thao promised to commit the City of Oakland to purchase housing units from the Duongs’ housing company, extend the City’s contract with the Duongs’ recycling company, and appoint city officials selected by the Duongs.
In exchange, David and Andy Duong promised to and did fund a $75,000 negative mailer campaign targeting Thao’s opponents in the mayoral election, and made $95,000 in payments to Jones for a no-show job with their housing company, with the promise of additional payments, all intended for the benefit of Thao and Jones.
There was another person involved in this transaction with the attack mailers. His name is Mario Juarez and he allegedly contracted a local company to print the mailers attacking Sheng Thao's opponent.
Juarez then gave the printer three checks totaling $51,000 to cover the mailing costs, but all three of those checks later bounced.
In any case, Juarez was apparently on the hook for a federal crime because writing a bad check to the post office is a federal matter.
It's widely believed that Juarez then became a cooperating witness who gave information to the FBI about the scheme between Mayor Thao, her boyfriend and the Duongs.
Here's where the story takes a crazy twist, one that we're only recently learning about. Just about a week before the June 2024 raid on Mayor Thao's house, two men came to Juarez house and tried to kill him.
It wasn't reported until earlier this month that the SF Chronicle reported on the shootout and the arrest and release of the two men involved back in December.
Oakland police arrested two men in connection with what they believe was an attempt to shoot and kill a man later identified as a key figure and potential witness in the federal corruption case against former Mayor Sheng Thao, the Chronicle has learned.
The man, businessman and political operative Mario Juarez, returned fire outside his Fruitvale neighborhood home during the incident last June 9, and was unhurt…
…public records reviewed by the Chronicle and statements from Juarez suggest that federal officials may have believed the gunfight and the FBI’s bribery investigation were linked.
The FBI raided Thao’s home on June 20 — the same day local officials filed paperwork in court describing their investigation of the shooting.
1/2
“Why was I targeted? Because I know too much,” Juarez said in a statement to the Chronicle.
Mario Juarez believes this was an attempted hit on him because he was a key witness. But if that's true, why did the DA decline to bring charges and release the two men?
There was literally a shootout in a suburban neighborhood and no one was charged.
But that seems to have changed in just the past week with the East Bay Times reporting one of the shooters has finally been charged.
County prosecutors charged Hermelindo Olber Ramosramos, 25, in the June 9 shooting at the East Oakland house of longtime political operative Mario Juarez.
A two-time council candidate, Juarez is the likely unindicted “Co-Conspirator 1″ in the alleged bribery and pay-to-play scandal that federal authorities unmasked in January when they charged Thao, her partner, Andre Jones, and David and Andy Duong, the father-and-son owners of California Waste Solutions with conspiracy and other federal offenses.
Ramosramos faces felony charges of shooting at an inhabited dwelling and shooting at an unoccupied vehicle.
He was arrested last December, but not charged until last Friday, after several media outlets published articles and videos about the months-old arrest… Details of Ramosramos’ alleged involvement in the June shooting remain shrouded in secrecy.
A probable cause declaration — essentially, authorities’ written justification for making an arrest or filing charges — was not made public in his court file, and other records in his case were sealed.
So the timing seems very strange, but also the fact that no probably cause document has been filed in this case. It suggests the feds are still managing this case which also suggests it could be connected to the fraud case.
In other words, maybe this really was an attempt to kill a key witness, not a random criminal act. If so, will we see a superseding indictment adding murder for hire to the charges against one or more of the defendants in this other case?
At this point it's just speculation but clearly Juarez believes that is what happened. And if the corruption case is relying on his testimony, the FBI must think he's somewhat reliable.
Just to add to this, Juarez claims he was attacked a month before the shootout by members of the Duong family.
Conflicting police reports were filed in that incident with the Duong family claiming Juarez came to them demanding money and Juarez claiming he was beaten and stomped on.
No charges have ever been filed in that case. Maybe this will all make sense eventually but for now it seems pretty strange.

Incredible moment car thief is caught by drone after dramatic high-speed chase
March 26, 2025 08:36
Police have released an amazing video of how they used a drone to catch a dangerous driver who fled after almost crashing into traffic on the opposite carriageway.
Liam Ainslie, from Durham, gave himself up having tried to flee across fields and after he nearly caused a massive crash.
Clearly out of breath, he soon realised that he had been caught on the drone and gave up.
Ainslie had been spotted driving a stolen Citroen near Castle Eden and was pursued by traffic officers.
Trying to escape, he reached speeds of more than 130mph on the A19 before he lost control and mounted the grass verge while trying to turn, almost crashing into cars coming in the opposite direction.
Ainslie jumped out of the crashed vehicle and tried to hide in fields but got only around 500m away when he heard the drone and gave himself up.
In footage captured by the police and shared on their Facebook page, Ainslie told arresting officers: “I heard the buzzing and thought there’s no point.”
At Durham Crown Court last week, the 35-year-old was found guilty of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance, and was given a 12-month prison sentence, Durham Police said.
A second man in his 20s was also arrested in connection with the incident but faced no further action.

'117 proofs in our skies' — Zelensky says overnight drone strike shows Moscow not ready for peace
March 26, 2025 1:04 PM
Russia launched 117 drones against Ukraine overnight on March 26, demonstrating Moscow's intent to prolong the war, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on X.
The statement comes after the U.S. brokered a ceasefire on March 25 between Ukraine and Russia on strikes against energy facilities and Black Sea naval operations.
"Last night, there were another 117 proofs in our skies of how Russia continues to drag out this war – 117 strike drones, most of them Shaheds," Zelensky said. "A significant number were shot down by our air defenders."
Ukrainian air defenses shot down 56 drones across the country, while 48 decoys disappeared from radars without causing damage, the Air Force said.
Hits were recorded in the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, and Cherkasy oblasts.
A Russian attack on the town of Okhtyrka in Sumy Oblast damaged two apartment buildings, four shops, an administrative building, several cars, outbuildings, and market kiosks.
A drone attack against Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetorvsk Oblast started multiple fires and damaged an administrative building, warehouses, an enterprise, and six cars.
At least four civilians were killed and six injured in Russian attacks across Ukraine over the past day, regional authorities said.
Ukraine's president called for "clear pressure and strong action from the world on Russia – more pressure, more sanctions from the United States – to stop Russian strikes."
"Launching such large-scale attacks after ceasefire negotiations is a clear signal to the whole world that Moscow is not going to pursue real peace," Zelensky said.
The president underscored that the U.S. and Ukraine agreed on a full 30-day truce on March 11 during talks in Jeddah, but Russia has rejected the proposal.
Russian President Vladimir Putin refused a broader ceasefire in a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump on March 18 unless the deal included conditions undermining Ukraine's defenses, including a halt on foreign military aid.
In turn, the Kremlin claimed the same day it had ordered a halt on strikes against Ukraine's energy targets. Zelensky's advisor, Dmytro Lytvyn, disputed this statement, saying on March 25 that Ukrainian energy facilities have been hit at least eight times since March 18.
"And literally every night, through its attacks, Russia keeps saying 'no' to our partners’ peace proposal," Zelensky said.

Russian Military Accuses Ukraine of Violating Energy Ceasefire
March 26, 2025
Russia’s Defense Ministry on Wednesday accused Ukraine of violating a 30-day pause on attacks against energy infrastructure, which Moscow claims has been in effect for more than a week.
The accusations follow earlier reports that Ukraine and Russia agreed in principle to halt strikes on energy targets after U.S.-mediated talks.
On Tuesday night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the ceasefire “can start today,” though it was not immediately clear whether he officially ordered his military to stop attacks on energy infrastructure.
Russia’s military claimed Ukrainian drone strikes over the past 24 hours caused power outages for thousands of residents in the border regions of Kursk and Bryansk.
It added that other drones were intercepted while attempting to strike an underground gas storage facility off the coast of annexed Crimea.
“By continuing to damage Russia’s civilian energy infrastructure, the Kyiv regime is doing everything to disrupt the Russian-American agreements on step-by-step measures to resolve the Ukrainian conflict,” the ministry said.
Regional authorities in the Kursk and Bryansk regions did not report any power outages.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a 30-day halt on strikes against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure starting March 18, following a highly anticipated phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump.
The White House, in its turn, said that Trump and Putin “agreed that the movement to peace will begin with an energy and infrastructure ceasefire.”
After U.S.-Ukrainian talks on Sunday and U.S.-Russian talks on Monday in Saudi Arabia, both the White House and Kremlin said officials had agreed to “develop measures” to implement and enforce a pause on striking energy facilities, raising questions about whether Putin had actually ordered his military to halt such attacks.
Zelensky accused Russia last week of continuing its attacks on Ukrainian energy sites “despite Putin’s words,” though Ukraine itself had not agreed to implement the energy ceasefire at that point.
Moscow has sought to end Ukrainian strikes on its oil and gas industry, a key source of revenue for the Russian government. So, too, has Ukraine, whose energy grid has been battered in repeated Russian strikes since the 2022 invasion, pressed for a halt to the attacks.
On Wednesday, Zelensky denounced Russia for launching 117 drones over Ukraine overnight.
“Launching such large-scale attacks after ceasefire negotiations is a clear signal to the whole world that Moscow is not going to pursue real peace,” Zelensky wrote on social media.

Russian State TV Journalist Killed by Mine Near Ukrainian Border
March 26, 2025
A military correspondent for Russia's state-run Channel One was killed by a mine explosion near the Ukrainian border, the broadcaster said Wednesday.
The incident occurred on the Russian side of the border in the Belgorod region, according to Channel One.
"Channel One war correspondent Anna Prokofieva died while performing her professional duty," the network said in a statement.
"Channel One's film crew struck an enemy mine." The explosion also wounded cameraman Dmitry Volkov, the broadcaster said.
Prokofieva, 35, has been covering the war in Ukraine for Channel One since 2023.
Her last post on Telegram, dated Tuesday, showed her sitting in a forest wearing military fatigues and a head-mounted camera.
Several Russian journalists have been killed during the war, including an Izvestia war correspondent who died Monday in Ukraine's Kharkiv region.
At least 21 journalists have been killed since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, according to the International Federation of Journalists.

Taiwan Unveils ‘Endeavor Manta’ – A Ukraine-Inspired Drone Boat for Asymmetric Warfare
March 26, 2025
The Taiwanese military has unveiled its first domestically built unmanned surface vessel (USV), drawing significant inspiration from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Named the Endeavor Manta, the 8.6-meter (28-foot) USV was developed by Taiwan’s China Shipbuilding Corporation to enhance the country’s asymmetric warfare capabilities amid escalating tensions with China.
Featuring a fiber-reinforced trimaran hull, the drone boat is designed for stability, particularly in the rough seas of the Taiwan Strait.
It has a payload capacity exceeding one ton, enabling it to carry light torpedoes and high-powered explosives for close combat operations at sea.
The platform boasts a maximum speed of 35 knots (64 kilometers/40 miles per hour) and is equipped with a failsafe that allows it to automatically return to its home port or self-destruct if captured by the enemy.
The uncrewed vessel made its debut earlier this week at Kaohsiung’s Singda Harbor, coinciding with Taiwan’s large-scale military drills focused on countering a potential Chinese invasion.
‘Ukraine-Inspired’
The Endeavor Manta draws from Ukraine’s innovative use of USVs in its conflict with Russia. Ukrainian forces have used USVs for surveillance, intelligence gathering, and surprise attacks on enemy targets.
Notable examples include an August 2023 seaborne drone strike on a Russian navy ship in the Black Sea, and the successful destruction of a Russian speedboat in Crimea in May 2024.
To address potential electronic warfare challenges similar to those faced in Ukraine, Taiwan has equipped the Endeavor Manta with multiple remote control communication modes, ensuring consistent control even in contested environments.
The drone boat also features a swarm control mode, which is crucial for a conflict, as it enables the coordinated operation of multiple unmanned units to overwhelm adversaries.
The Endeavor Manta can be launched from landing platform docks, such as the Yushan-class vessel, which can carry up to 20 USVs. Additionally, a single control station can manage up to 50 Endeavor Mantas simultaneously.

Tiny Chinese drone conquers Earth’s deepest point, beyond reach of US Navy
Updated: 4:39pm, 26 Mar 2025
In the western Pacific Ocean just east of the island of Guam and a strategic gateway to the second island chain, lies the deepest point on Earth – the Mariana Trench.
In the crushing darkness of this hidden realm, China has unveiled a deep-sea technological marvel: a miniature drone, no larger than a briefcase, engineered to succeed where no other machines can reach, including those of the US Navy.
Developed by researchers at Beijing’s Beihang University, the transformer-like robot harnesses smart metal actuators that convert extreme water pressure into propulsion, enabling it to swim, glide and crawl across the trench’s 10.7km (6.6 mile) abyss.
“At a depth of [10km], the pressure (equivalent to 1,000 atmospheres) is like a robot bearing the weight of an iceberg,” said professor Wen Li, chief researcher of the project at Beihang University, in an article posted on the university’s website on March 20.
The achievement, detailed in a landmark Science Robotics study last week, underscores a widening gap between Beijing and Washington.
While China completed 246 deep-sea dives in 2024 alone – more than all other nations combined – the United States relies on ageing submersibles like the 61-year-old Alvin, which maxes out at 6,500 metres (21,300 feet).
Wen’s robotic drone uses shape memory alloys for deep-sea soft actuation. The technology cannot only drive the robot under pressure but also helps the submersible’s robot arm carry out various underwater tasks.
The team developed the deep-sea morphable robot with a centimetre-scale soft actuator designed using tube-sealed shape memory alloys (SMAs).

Fishermen pulled a mysterious creature from the bottom of the Mariana Trench
26 Mar 2025 09:50
The Mariana Trench, the deepest underwater point on our planet, continues to keep its secrets.
Despite years of research, scientists still do not have a complete understanding of what life forms inhabit this mysterious abyss.
Specialists are convinced that in these unexplored depths there are many unique creatures still unknown to science.
Recently, during another fishing expedition, an event occurred that could become an important milestone in the study of deep-sea fauna.
Fishermen brought to the surface a truly amazing creature: an absolutely transparent body almost a meter long, adorned with intricate patterns and shimmering inserts, which probably serve for bioluminescence in the pitch darkness of the ocean depths.
Researchers were particularly attracted to the disproportionately large eyes of the creature – a clear adaptation to life in conditions of complete absence of sunlight.
This anatomical feature allows it to capture the slightest sources of light in the eternal darkness of the Mariana Trench.
After a thorough examination, the scientific group came to a preliminary conclusion: the discovered organism has characteristics that do not correspond to any known species of marine inhabitants.
This may mean that the world is on the threshold of a significant discovery in the field of oceanology.
However, scientists are cautious in their assessments and are not rushing to final conclusions about the origin and classification of the mysterious creature.
Our knowledge of deep-sea fauna is still extremely limited, and a series of additional studies will be required for accurate identification of the find.
As reported by the news agency "Kulik," the study of this mysterious inhabitant of the deep sea will continue in specialized laboratories.

Singapore Installs World’s Deepest Ocean Art At 7,000 Meters In Mariana Trench
March 25, 2025
Singapore has become the first country to install an art gallery 7,000 meters beneath the ocean. The installation consists of three stainless steel cubes designed by Singaporean artist and architect Lakshmi Mohanbabu.
The artwork was deployed near the Mariana Trench off Japan’s coast in December 2024, serving both artistic and scientific purposes.
The cubes, measuring 10 cm on each side, are made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and feature intricate designs inspired by the “Universal Language of Symbols.”
Each cube displays five unique patterns-Nautilus, Primary, Secondary, Windmill, and Dromenon, symbolising fundamental human experiences such as creation, movement and time.
The project was executed by NuStar Technologies in collaboration with Japan’s Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC). It is more than an artistic venture.
It plays an important role in monitoring earthquakes and tsunamis. The cubes are part of a specialised early warning seismic sensor system that tracks undersea tremors.
One of the three cubes was manufactured using a hybrid technique developed by researchers at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore.
This method, known as Laser Patterning and Incorporation of Sheets (LAPIS), combines 3D printing with laser cutting to create ultra-thin layers of stainless steel.
The final structure, only 4mm thick, is over 70% stronger than regular steel, enabling it to withstand extreme deep-sea pressures.
Professor Lai Changquan led the research at NTU’s Singapore Centre for 3D Printing. Changquan said that the project showcases the potential of interdisciplinary innovation.
Following the success, he and his students have launched a start-up to apply the technology in the aerospace, maritime and energy sectors.
The cubes were officially installed on December 12, 2024, and incorporated into Japan’s Dense Ocean Network System for Earthquakes and Tsunamis (DONET).
NuStar Technologies and JAMSTEC modified the Long-Term Borehole Monitoring System (LTBMS) by adding custom cavities and holders to accommodate the artwork.
Ultra-deep sea cameras were also deployed to capture images and videos of the installation. Mohanbabu has always been at the forefront of integrating art with scientific advancements.
In 2022, she became the first Singaporean to send artwork into space through the Moon Gallery project on the International Space Station.
Now, plans are in place to send her previous artworks to the Moon in 2025, making Singapore the first nation to have art installations both on the ocean floor and in space.
The underwater gallery was commemorated during Singapore’s SG60 celebrations at Gallery ART NOW. The event was attended by NTU Board Chair Goh Swee Chen, who is also the Chairman of the National Arts Council.
Mohanbabu sees this project as a way to unite people through shared experiences. She believes that art should not be confined to walls but should explore new frontiers, whether in space or deep underwater.
The Deep Ocean Interactions Project is a tribute to communities affected by natural disasters. The cube colours, red and white, ocean blue and orange, and purple and aquamarine blue, symbolise Earth’s transformation, and the mysteries of the cosmos.
The red and white cube, in particular, represents the bond between Singapore and Japan.
According to Goi Kim Kok, managing director of NuStar Technologies, this project proves that the deep ocean can serve as a space for both scientific research and cultural expression.
The installation also marks the 60th anniversary of Singapore-Japan diplomatic relations in 2025.

Secret CIA files claim Ark of the Covenant has been found
Updated: 10:36 EDT, 26 March 2025
The location of a chest believed to contain the Ten Commandments has long been a mystery, but CIA documents claims the Ark of the Covenant has been found.
According to the Bible, the Ark of the Covenant was built by the Israelites shortly after they fled Egypt around the 13th century BC. Moses then placed the Ten Commandments inside.
The CIA conducted experiments in the 1980s with individuals who claimed they could perceive information about distant objects, events or other people.
The report details one of these tests where Remote Viewer No. 032 was given coordinates to locate a target, and they described the Ark of the Covenant hiding in the Middle East.
Some historians believe the Ark of the Covenant was originally kept inside the Holy of Holies, the innermost chamber of the ancient Temple of Jerusalem, before it disappeared during the Babylonian sack of Jerusalem in 586 BC.
There is also a legend that the artifact was taken to Ethiopia and now resides in a local church. Evidence that the chest existed has yet to be found, but the CIA document declassified in 2000 claims it was discovered in 1988.
'The target is a container. This container has another container inside of it,' the document states. 'The target is fashioned of wood, gold and silver…. and it is decorated with [a six-winged angel].'
The remote viewer continued to say that the coffin-shaped object is 'located somewhere in the Middle East' and saw people in the area speaking Arabic.
The remote viewer, however, was not told that they were searching for the lost covenant before the experiment began.
According to Biblical history, this sacred, gold-covered wooden chest was constructed sometime around 1445 BC.
The Ten Commandments are a list of directives given to Moses by God, including rules such as 'thou shalt not kill' and 'honor thy mother and father.'
Some historians believe the Ark remained inside the ancient temple of Jerusalem for centuries, and during this time, only the High Priest of the Israelites could see it. Even he was only allowed near it on Judaism's holiest holiday, Yom Kippur.
And then, it vanished.
But this CIA document — a remnant of the mysterious 'Project Sun Streak' — suggests the US government has known where the Ark is for years.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and several other intelligence agencies including the CIA employed individuals 'alleged to have paranormal capabilities' as means of acquiring intelligence about 'distant events.'
Project Sun Streak attempted to use psychics known as 'remote viewers' to gather intelligence on targets using only coordinates.
Remote viewers are supposedly able to project their consciousness beyond their bodies to observe a far-off location.
The CIA tapped these psychics for a wide array of operations, from locating hostages kidnapped by Islamic terrorist groups to tracing the paths of fugitive criminals within the US.
The project, known as Sun Streak, has gained public attention after it was featured on a recent episode of the Ninjas are Butterflies podcast.
Show host Josh Hooper said he thought Project Sun Streak was 'fake' until he went on the CIA.gov website and found the document.
'I was like… 'what am I looking at?'' he said.
1/2
The document describes a training exercise conducted on December 5, 1988.
The psychic projected their consciousness beyond their body to search for the sacred artifact, writing down his observations as they went.
'What he wrote was bone-chilling,' Hooper said. 'This target is located somewhere in the Middle East as the language spoken by individuals present seemed to be Arabic,' the psychic wrote.
The psychic described nearby buildings that resembled Mosque Domes and individuals 'clothed in virtually all white' with 'black hair and dark eyes.'
'One figure I homed in on wore a moustache,' they wrote.
'The target is hidden — underground, dark and wet were all aspects of the location of the target.
'The purpose of the target is to bring a people together. It has something to do with ceremony, memory, homage, the resurrection.
'There is an aspect of spirituality, information, lessons and historical knowledge far beyond what we now know.
'The target is protected by entities and can only be opened (now) by those who are authorized to do so — this container will not/cannot be opened until the time is deemed correct.'
The psychic goes on to say that time comes, the 'mechanics of the lock system will be found to be fairly simple,' and that anyone who attempts to open the container by prying or striking will be 'destroyed by the container's protectors through the use of a power unknown to us.'
The rest of the report features sketches and scrawled writings that the psyching presumably made during the remote viewing session.
These include drawings of what appear to be the features of a building, a mosque with a domed top, eight 'mummies' lined up beside each other, a wheel and a winged-creature called a 'seraphim.'
The document also includes multiple lists of seemingly-random but ominous words, such as 'death,' 'forbidden,' 'protected,' 'scared,' 'destroyed,' 'pain' and 'anguish.
Some theories suggest that the Ark of the Covenant may reside somewhere in Ethiopia.
Although this remote viewer claimed it is somewhere in the Middle East, this African nation is home to a large Arabic-speaking Muslim population and numerous mosques.
A long-standing religious legend in Ethiopia describes how the Ark of the Covenant was brought there by a man named Menelik, who was supposedly the son of the Queen of Sheba and Israel's King Solomon.
The Queen of Sheba was from Ethiopia, but ruled over a kingdom in modern-day Yemen. According to legend, she gave birth to Menelik in her country of origin, but he later traveled to Jerusalem to study with his father.
While there, he supposedly stole the Ark and brought it back to Aksum, Ethiopia. Locals say it has resided in the Church of Out Lady Mary of Zion ever since.
British scholar of Semitic languages and Ethiopian studies Edward Ullendorff claimed he saw the Ark inside the church during World War II, but a source close to Ullendorff later revealed that the 'artifact' he saw was nothing more than a replica.
'What he saw was what you find in any Ethiopian church, which is a model of the Ark of the Covenant,' Tudor Parfitt, a British historian, writer and former colleague of Ullendorff, told Live Science in 2018.
Apparently, Ullendorff said that 'it didn't differ in any way from many arks he had seen in other churches in Ethiopia,' Parfitt said. 'It wasn't ancient and certainly wasn't the original ark.'
Thus, the location of this sacred chest remains a mystery just waiting to be solved.

Strange UFO Incident Near El Paso Still A Mystery
March 24, 2025
Everyone's heard about the UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico, about 205 miles north of El Paso.
Another one happened about 300 miles south of us … In July, 1947, a UFO supposedly crashed during a thunderstorm near Roswell.
The military investigated and identified wreckage as being from a "UFO" but then changed their story, claiming it was actually a weather balloon.
Something similar happened in 1974 not far from Presidio, Texas in Coyame, Mexico. It's also shrouded in mystery and resulted in the death of several humans. Not sure about aliens …
August 25, 1974, a small plane took off from El Paso International Airport, headed for Mexico City.
Meanwhile, United States Air Defense Radar was tracking a UFO over the Gulf of Mexico … errrr, America, sorry … heading toward Corpus Christi at about 2,000 mph.
It disappeared somewhere near Coyame, Mexico.
The next day, a "high speed" plane crash was announced involving the flight that had left El Paso and a second, "disc shaped" aircraft.
The US Army offered to help recover the aircraft and Mexico said no thanks but a team from Fort Bliss decided to go over anyway.
They found the Mexican convoy stopped and all the soldiers dead along with the plane wreckage and a disc about 16 feet across.
Worrying that a biological hazard of some kind killed the Mexicans, the Americans destroyed everything. Except the UFO.
They hooked it to a helicopter and sent it to an unknown destination in the USA. Today only rumors about what happened exist and both Mexico and the USA deny this ever happened.
An article in the “El Heraldo de Chihuahua” dated Oct. 27, 1974 mentions a group of Mexican soldiers dying "during a military transport". A Texas woman and her son have also given their account.
Residents who lived there at the time told tales of soldiers running all around the small town of Coyame and some claim to remember the plane burning in the desert.
With all the evidence gone or destroyed, the soldiers dead and witnesses dying off; I guess we'll never know what really happened out there.

Massive! 6 UFOs (not 1) Landed at the UK's Roswell - Rendlesham in 1980
Monday 24th Mar 2025
The Rendlesham Forest UFO incident of 1980 occurred near RAF Woodbridge and RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk, England, and is often referred to as "Britain's Roswell."
Over several nights in late December, military personnel reported seeing strange lights and a triangular-shaped craft in the forest.
One witness, in particular, claimed to have encountered a landed craft, which emitted a mysterious light. The incident was officially documented by the U.S. Air Force, but no conclusive explanation was provided.
Lee has had access to extensive records on the Rendlesham case at the Great British UFO Learning Centre run by ex CID police detective John Hanson.
These have been used as the basis for his new film - The Rendlesham UFO - The British Roswell.
Lee states:
"I have found a detailed and annotated sketch made by one of the first investigators of this case - Peter Parish.
He made this sketch for the Deputy base Commander Colonel Halt and I'm not aware that this has been made public.
It states that there were AT LEAST 6 craft that landed and as well as the military witnesses - one of these craft was seen landing by the Territorial Army who were camping nearby.
They said that were it landed the sand turned to glass! A dog walker was said to have seen men in silver suits covering up a silver object a the impact site!."
From the annotations you can see that there was a main craft which landed and a recovery team was sent in.
They had to clear trees to get to it where a helicopter with winch carried it out of the forest and to the Woodbridge base where it was said to have been returned to Germany.
Lee adds:
"If this version of events that 1980 weekend is correct then what we are looking at is the US military in conjunction the UK testing a new advanced craft on it's own base and servicemen.
What was seen here was super advanced physics in a top secret craft, possibly developed locally at the Orford Ness secret research base just a few miles away."
The late UFO researcher and author Georgina Bruni was told in a conversation with the Prime Minister at the time Margaret Thatcher that it (Rendlesham) wasn't UFOs, but that - 'You Can't tell the people' maybe she was alluding to a weapons programme that was so secret and so advanced that the public must never know about it?
Lee adds:
"I used to think and believe that the Rendlesham case was our best evidence of an extra terrestrial craft landing but the more I have investigated it the more I think that the truth is that the UK government was working alongside its NATO ally the US to develop new weapons using advanced theoretical physics.
As Prof Simon Holland (ex BBC science editor and NASA film-maker) has told me ever since the Manhattan project governments and their military have wanted to weaponise physics and I really think this is what was seen at Rendlesham.
It also accounts for all the health issues that the servicemen involved had since then and how eventually the US military has admitted liability and awarded them disability payments. This why Thatcher said - You can't tell the people."

Fluorescent caves show how life could exist on one of Jupiter’s moons
Mar 25, 2025
Fluorescent caves deep below America show how alien life could exist on one of Jupiter's moons, say scientists.
The chemistry in Wind Cave, South Dakota, means that, under an ultraviolet (UV) light, chemicals fossilized within shine in brilliant hues of pink, blue and green.
Scientists are using the fluorescent features to understand how the caves formed and how life is supported in extreme environments.
They say their research, part-funded by NASA, may reveal how life could persist in faraway places, such as on Jupiter’s icy moon Europa.
The team explained that the chemistry in the American cave is likely similar to places such as Europa.
Astrobiologist Professor Joshua Sebree, of the University of Northern Iowa, went hundreds of feet underground to investigate minerals and lifeforms in the cold, dark conditions.
He said: “The purpose of this project as a whole is to try to better understand the chemistry taking place underground that’s telling us about how life can be supported.
As Sebree and his team began to venture into new areas of Wind Cave and other caves across the United States, they mapped the rock formations, passages, streams and organisms they found.
As they explored, they used black UV lights to look at the minerals in the rocks.
Sebree says that, under the black light, certain areas of the caves seemed to transform into something otherworldly as portions of the surrounding rocks shone in different colors.
Thanks to impurities lodged within the Earth millions of years ago, the hues corresponded with different concentrations and types of organic or inorganic compounds.
Sebree says the shining stones often indicated where water once carried minerals down from the surface. He said: “The walls just looked completely blank and devoid of anything interesting.
“But then, when we turned on the black lights, what used to be just a plain brown wall turned into a bright layer of fluorescent mineral that indicated where a pool of water used to be 10,000 or 20,000 years ago.”
The team collected the fluorescence spectra - which they say is like a fingerprint of the chemical makeup - of different surfaces using a portable spectrometer. That meant they could take the information with them while leaving the cave intact.
One of the team, Anna Van Der Weide, is using data collected during the fieldwork to build a publicly accessible inventory of fluorescence fingerprints to help provide an additional layer of information to the traditional cave map and paint a more complete picture of its history and formation.
The team faced several challenges collecting data in caves. For example, in the chilly Mystery Cave, Minnesota, they had to bury the spectrometer’s batteries in hand warmers to keep them from dying.
In other locations the team had to squeeze through spaces less than a foot (30 centimeters) wide for hundreds of feet, sometimes losing a shoe in the process.
But their efforts have revealed a wealth of information.
In Wind Cave, the team found that manganese-rich waters had carved out the cave and produced the striped zebra calcites within, which glowed pink under black light.
The calcites grew underground, fed by the manganese-rich water. Sebree believes that when the rocks shattered since calcite is weaker than the limestone also comprising the cave, the calcite worked to expand the cave too.
He said: “It’s a very different cave-forming mechanism than has previously been looked at before."
Undergraduate Van Der Weide added: “It was really cool to see how you can apply science out in the field and to learn how you function in those environments."
Sebree now plans to investigate how similar, mineral-rich water may support life in the far reaches of the solar system.
The researchers presented their findings at the spring meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in San Diego, California.

The Antarctica "Pyramid" That Sparked A Massive Alien Conspiracy Theory
March 26, 2025
Antarctica is the least populted continent on the planet by a significant margin. The vast region is inhabited only by small, isolated groups of scientists in research stations - though occasional cruise ships and other tour groups will make visits to Antarctica.
The frozen expanse of Antarctica is actually a desert, which has prompted many people to speculate about what might be concealed beneath the continent's ice.
Antarctica has attracted a fair share of wild conspiracy theories over the years. Many of these theories deal with alternate interpretations of the Earth's topology (anything but a spheroid!)
The Earth is hollow, and Antarctica conceals the secret entrance into the concave interior. No wait! The Earth is flat, and Antarctica is an ice ring around the edge, or maybe just a hoax.
Something about the continent's remote location seems to invite this kind of speculation.
Another conspiracy theory about Antarctica that has been circulating on the internet for about a decade has recently started trending again.
According to the theory, the Antarctic is home to a massive pyramid that must have been built by an advanced ancient civilization or, perhaps, extraterrestrial visitors from long ago. Spoiler alert: the truth is more down to earth.
An Avalanche Of Speculation About The "Antarctica Pyramid" Grows Online
Rumors have been snowballing about an extraterrestrial presence in Antarctica for decades
Tales about megastructures in Antarctica have occasionally cropped up over the decades. On April 1, 1998, the prestigious journal Science ran a story about the discovery of massive stone structures and other artifacts in Antarctica.
Keen observers, however, quickly noted the article's publication date (April Fool's). The plot of the popular X-Files movie, released later in 1998, involved a massive subterranean base in Antarctica.
Speculation about massive, artificial structures hidden in Antarctica soared again in 2016. According to data from Google Trends, online interest in the topic 'Antarctica pyramid' grew more than tenfold between April and May 2016.
The online hype followed the release of the premier episode of season 11 of the History Channel's Ancient Aliens series on May 6, 2016.
The episode focused on claims of pyramids in Antarctica, with the show's 'ancient alien theorists' suggesting that such structures may have been part of a "worldwide pyramid power grid".
Online paranormal investigators began searching for more 'pyramids' in Antarctica using satellite imagery available through Google Earth. By November 2016, one particular candidate had gone viral.
The purported Antarctica Pyramid is located at coordinates 79°58'39.2"S 81°57'32.2"W in the Ellsworth Mountains and can be easily viewed using Google Earth.
The feature, which appears to be roughly pentahedral in shape, was claimed by proponents of the 'ancient alien hypothesis' as proof that an extraterrestrial civilization once colonized Earth.
The Antarctica Pyramid is indeed massive, with a base that covers 2 square kilometers and a height of 1,265 meters.
The Conspiracy Theory Received An Icy Reception From Scientists
The Antarctica Pyramid is an interesting phenomenon, but it's not from outer space
1/2
Not everyone was convinced. Established mainstream scientists quickly rebuffed the sensational claims about the Antarctica Pyramid being an extraterrestrial megastructure.
"It's clearly a mountain," Alfredo Carpineti, Ph.D., wrote in November 2016 for IFLScience. The same week, Eric Rignot, Ph.D., professor of Earth system science at UC Irvine, was quoted in LiveScience with an explanation for the anomaly:
This is just a mountain that looks like a pyramid. Pyramid shapes are not impossible — many peaks partially look like pyramids, but they only have one to two faces like that, rarely four.
Geologists believe the Antarctica Pyramid is actually a type of mountain known as a pyramidal peak. Also called glacial horns, pyramidal peaks are mountains with sharp, angular peaks formed by erosion from glaciers.
The famed Matterhorn in the Alps, which is considered dangerous to climb, is near Zermatt, Switzerland, and is a notable example of a pyramidal peak.
Viewing the Antarctica Pyramid as a mountain is also consistent with its height. At 1,265 meters in height, it is nearly 10 times the original height of the Great Pyramid at Giza.
Yet, by mountain standards, the feature is only about one-fifth the height of Alaska's Denali.
A Common Psychological Phenomenon May Explain Why People See "Pyramids" in Mountains
Things aren't always what they seem - mistaking patterns is a common human trait
The mystery around the Antarctica Pyramid appears to be a classic case of pareidolia. In psychology, 'pareidolia' is the tendency for human brains to see familiar patterns, like faces, in random or unrelated objects.
Common instances might be seeing shapes in clouds or a face in the bark of a tree. The celebrated Face on Mars and many of the strange things on the red planet are similar cases of pareidolia, where human observers have seen patterns in geological formations on Mars that appear to resemble a human face or other structures.
While Antarctica may not contain any giant pyramids or other alien megastructures built by an ancient race of spacefaring extraterrestrials, the continent still conceals plenty of mysteries waiting to be studied by scientists and explorers.
The Antarctica Pyramid may not be a true pyramid, but it's pyramidal shape, formed by glaciers, still tells a story about Antarctica's geologic history.
The continued online speculation about what might be hidden in Antarctica shows that the public's fascination with the frozen continent isn't cooling down anytime soon.

Mysterious Golden Orb Found at The Bottom of The Ocean
25 March 2025
At around 3,300 meters (2 miles) below the surface of the ocean off the coast of Alaska, where the warm light of the Sun never penetrates, an NOAA Ocean Exploration remotely operated underwater vehicle came across a strange, golden orb.
The bizarre undersea object, encountered during an expedition in 2023, was found "tightly adhered" to a rock dotted with white sponges, measuring around 10 centimeters (4 inches) across with a hole in one side.
For the scientists making the discovery, it wasn't entirely clear what the mysterious orb might be. Initial suggestions from the researchers conducting the livestream of the dive included an egg casing from a mystery species, a dead sponge, or a coral.
"I don't know what to make of that," said one of the researchers on a livestream.
"It's definitely got a big old hole in it, so something either tried to get in or tried to get out," another speculated.
"I just hope when we poke it, something doesn't decide to come out," one researcher said. "It's like the beginning of a horror movie."
Whatever deep horror that might be, it might yet have some growing to do. As reported in The Guardian, one hypothesis suggests something may have hatched from the golden case. Something not exactly tiny.
"We're going with egg because of the texture. It felt fleshy and it doesn't have any obvious anatomy.
It has a hole in it that suggests something has come in or gone out. But it doesn't look like any egg I've ever seen," deep-sea ecologist Kerry Howell of the University of Plymouth in the UK told the paper.
"If it is an egg, the really interesting question is whose egg is it. It's quite big. That's not a small fish egg. That's a sizable thing."
Using a robotic arm, the researchers gently nudged the object, determining that it was quite soft, before collecting it via suction for further study.
The fact the 'egg' was on its own is almost as intriguing as its size. Typically, oviparous animals lay eggs in clutches.
So if the object is an egg, there's something unusual about it. Which is quite marvelous, really: whatever it is, the orb has something new to tell us about the deep ocean, and the diverse life that thrives therein.
There's a lot that happens in the inhospitable ocean depths that we don't yet understand. Crushing pressures and freezing temperatures are just two factors that have kept humanity from exploring widely.
However, with remotely operated vehicles acting as a proxy, the ocean is gradually revealing its secrets. Including how mysterious deep ocean species procreate.
"Isn't the deep sea so delightfully strange?" said exploration coordinator Sam Candio of NOAA Ocean Exploration.
"While we were able to collect the 'golden orb' and bring it onto the ship, we still are not able to identify it beyond the fact that it is biological in origin.
"While somewhat humbling to be stumped by this finding, it serves as a reminder of how little we know about our own planet and how much is left to learn and appreciate about our ocean."
