Just found this, would a training exercise include a swamp deep enough to kill people?

An American M88A2 Hercules armored recovery vehicle sank in a swamp along with its crew during exercises on the border of Lithuania and Belarus.

According to Lithuanian media, during exercises at the Pabrade training ground on Tuesday evening, an M88A2 armored recovery vehicle belonging to the 1st Armored Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division of the US Army was discovered missing.

The search lasted for a whole day, during which helicopters of the Lithuanian Air Force and border guards were involved. As a result, the engineering vehicle was found drowned in a swamp, all four American servicemen were killed.

No mention of swamp or sinkholes…

Tanks and armored fighting vehicles maneuvered through dense forest terrain, the ground oozing with slippery mud.

Slipped so fast into a swamp so deep the ARV disappeared from view and the soldiers couldn't even radio for help? That's a really dangerous training area.
