so if the 'device' is passing through the field of the earth's magnetic field (of course it is as the world spins) that it should produce a charge in the wire! And all one has to do to use the charge it to tap onto it .
essentially it may be a way to tap electricity out of the magnetic field of the Earth!

I think that the next step is to take a long length of magnetic core, wrap it in a long long long wire (insulated of course) and then see what happens when it's put into the ground and covered with an insulating material.
