A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar today, sending tremors as far as Bangkok, and prompting both Thailand and Myanmar to declare a state of emergency.
In Bangkok, a high-rise building under construction collapsed near the city’s Chatuchak Market, police confirmed. At least 90 people are missing and three people were killed in the incident, the Thai defence minister said. Seven people have been rescued from the debris, an emergency responder said earlier on Friday.
