Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates (typically shortened to Skadden) is an American multinational law firm headquartered in New York City. The firm comprises approximately 1,700 lawyers and is the fifth highest grossing law firm worldwide.[6]

In March 2025, Skadden agreed to contribute $100 million of pro bono legal services to support the Second Trump administration's goals.[7]

History

The firm was founded in 1948 in New York by Marshall Skadden, John Slate, and Les Arps.[8] Joseph Flom was hired the same year as the firm's first associate. In 1959, William R. Meagher joined the firm and Elizabeth Head, the firm's first female attorney, was hired. In 1960, the firm's name became Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.[8]

In 1973, the firm opened its second office in Boston.[8] In 1981, Peggy L. Kerr became Skadden's first female partner.[9]

In 1987, the firm opened its first international office in Tokyo.[8] In 2008, together with the City College of New York, Skadden launched the Skadden, Arps Honors Program with the goal of increasing diversity in law schools and the legal profession.[10]

In November 2023, amid a wave of antisemitic incidents at elite U.S. law schools, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom was among a group of major law firms who sent a letter to top law school deans warning them that an escalation in incidents targeting Jewish students would have corporate hiring consequences. The letter said "We look to you to ensure your students who hope to join our firms after graduation are prepared to be an active part of workplace communities that have zero tolerance policies for any form of discrimination or harassment, much less the kind that has been taking place on some law school campuses."[11]

Targeting by Trump and capitulation

As part of a large retaliatory campaign in 2025 by Trump against law firms and attorneys who had represented his political opponents, Skadden became concerned that it would be targeted in an executive order.[12] In March 2025, Skadden capitulated and agreed to contribute $100 million of pro bono legal services to support the Second Trump administration's goals.[7]

Key people

Unlike some firms that have introduced two-tier partnerships with equity and non-equity partners, Skadden maintains a one-tier partnership, in which all partners are equity partners and share ownership of the firm.[13] The firm has 334 partners worldwide.[14] Notable partners include:

Stephen C. Robinson, former federal district court judge sitting in the U.S. District Court for the SDNY; former U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut[15]

Patrick B. Fitzgerald, former U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; as special counsel for the Department of Justice, the federal prosecutor in charge of the investigation of the Valerie Plame Affair[16]

Fred T. Goldberg, Jr., commissioner of Internal Revenue (1989–92), assistant secretary for tax policy in the Department of the Treasury in 1992[17]

Mark N. Kaplan, former CEO of Drexel Burnham Lambert and Engelhard[18][19]

Michael Leiter, former director of the National Counterterrorism Center[20][21]

Rankings

Skadden's New York City headquarters at One Manhattan West

In 2015 and 2016, Skadden was the fourth largest law firm in the U.S. by revenue. In the 2015 Global 100 survey by The American Lawyer, Skadden ranked as the fourth-highest grossing law firm in the world.[22] In 2016, Skadden had approximately 1,700 attorneys in 22 offices;[22] in 2011, the firm had approximately 1,900 attorneys in 23 offices.[23] Measured by the number of attorneys, Skadden is the fifth largest law firm in New York and 12th largest in the United States.[22][24] In 2016, Skadden was 187th on Forbes' list of America's Largest Private Companies by revenue.[25] Previously, the firm ranked 335th[26] in 1995, 194th[27] in 2003 and 213th in 2010.[28] In 2015, Skadden became the first law firm ever to handle more than $1 trillion in M&A deals in a single year[29][30] and, for the third time in six years, the Financial Times' "Innovative Lawyers" report named Skadden the most innovative law firm in North America.[31][32]

🚨BREAKING:DHS is sending out termination notices to approximately 530K CHNV parolees (Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela) in batches of 175K starting today.

Parolees are required to leave the US by either their original departure date or April 24, 2025. An accrual of 180 or more days of unlawful presence would most likely render them inadmissible into the US in the future.

HUGE.

These are the exact kind of "parolees" who flooded small towns like Springfield under Biden's open border policies.

State Department Notifies Congress It Will Officially Shutdown USAID

By Jim Hᴏft Mar. 28, 2025 6:20 pm

The State Department announced Friday it will officially dismantle the bloated U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), folding select operations into its own ranks by July 1.

The long-overdue decision puts an end to a multi-billion-dollar bureaucratic behemoth that has squandered taxpayer dollars on questionable overseas handouts for decades.

The Trump administration, fulfilling promises to drain the swamp and slash government overreach, accused USAID of gross mismanagement and funding foreign programs that do little to advance American interests.

According to the press statement by Marco Rubio:

“Foreign assistance done right can advance our national interests, protect our borders, and strengthen our partnerships with key allies.

Unfortunately, USAID strayed from its original mission long ago. As a result, the gains were too few and the costs were too high.

Thanks to President Trump, this misguided and fiscally irresponsible era is now over. We are reorienting our foreign assistance programs to align directly with what is best for the United States and our citizens. We are continuing essential lifesaving programs and making strategic investments that strengthen our partners and our own country. This is yet another promise made and delivered to the American people.

Note: Today, the Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have notified Congress on their intent to undertake a reorganization that would involve realigning certain USAID functions to the Department by July 1, 2025, and discontinuing the remaining USAID functions that do not align with Administration priorities.”

According to CNN, Jeremy Lewin, a senior official from DOGE now overseeing USAID’s transition, communicated to the remaining staff that the reorganization would “enhance efficiency, accountability, uniformity, and strategic impact in delivering foreign assistance programs.”

Lewin emphasized that this restructuring would allow the U.S. to “speak with one voice in foreign affairs.”

The restructuring will maintain certain critical functions of USAID, such as humanitarian assistance and global health initiatives, under the State Department’s umbrella.

However, much of USAID’s regional development work will be absorbed into corresponding divisions of the State Department, with other functions deemed duplicative and set for elimination.

According to the New York Post, “Per the State Department memo, USAID may now rehire some employees to “assume the responsible administration of USAID’s remaining life-saving and strategic aid programming” while “all non-statutory positions at USAID will be eliminated.””

“This transfer will significantly enhance efficiency, accountability, uniformity, and strategic impact in delivering foreign assistance programs — allowing our nation and President to speak with one voice in foreign affairs,” the memo stated. “It will also obviate the need for USAID to continue operating as an independent establishment.”

For taxpayers tired of seeing their hard-earned dollars funneled into endless foreign sinkholes, the USAID shutdown is a win worth celebrating. With DOGE swinging the axe, the era of unchecked government spending just took a serious hit—and America’s wallets are better for it.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/03/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-adjusts-imports-of-automobiles-and-automobile-parts-into-the-united-states/

Fact Sheet:President Donald J. Trump Adjusts Imports of Automobiles and Automobile Parts into the United States

The White House

March 26, 2025

COUNTERING TRADE PRACTICES THAT THREATEN TO IMPAIR U.S. NATIONAL SECURITY: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed a proclamation invoking Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 to impose a 25% tariff on imports of automobiles and certain automobile parts, addressing a critical threat to U.S. national security.

President Trump is taking action to protect America’s automobile industry, which is vital to national security and has been undermined by excessive imports threatening America’s domestic industrial base and supply chains.

The 25% tariff will be applied to imported passenger vehicles (sedans, SUVs, crossovers, minivans, cargo vans) and light trucks, as well as key automobile parts (engines, transmissions, powertrain parts, and electrical components), with processes to expand tariffs on additional parts if necessary.

Importers of automobiles under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement will be given the opportunity to certify their U.S. content and systems will be implemented such that the 25% tariff will only apply to the value of their non-U.S. content.

USMCA-compliant automobile parts will remain tariff-free until the Secretary of Commerce, in consultation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), establishes a process to apply tariffs to their non-U.S. content.

The President is exercising his authority under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 to adjust imports to protect our national security.

This statute provides the President with authority to adjust imports being brought into the United States in quantities or under circumstances that threaten to impair national security.

MAINTAINING A RESILIENT DOMESTIC INDUSTRIAL BASE: President Trump is taking action to end unfair trade practices that jeopardize U.S. national security.

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed critical vulnerabilities and choke points in global supply chains, undermining our ability to maintain a resilient domestic industrial base.

Legislation, pre-existing trade agreements like the USMCA, revisions to the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement, and subsequent negotiations have not sufficiently mitigated the threat to national security posed by imports of automobiles and certain automobile parts.

These new tariffs aim to ensure the U.S. can sustain its domestic industrial base and meet national security needs.

STRENGTHENING AMERICA’S MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY: President Trump’s decision to implement tariffs on imports of automobiles and automobile parts will protect and strengthen the U.S. automotive sector.

Foreign automobile industries, bolstered by unfair subsidies and aggressive industrial policies, have expanded, while U.S. production has stagnated.

In 1985, American-owned facilities in the United States manufactured 11.0 million automobiles, representing 97% of overall domestic (American- and foreign-owned) production of automobiles.

In 2024, Americans bought approximately 16 million cars, SUVs, and light trucks, and 50% of these vehicles were imports (8 million).

Of the other 8 million vehicles assembled in America and not imported, the average domestic content is conservatively estimated at only 50% and is likely closer to 40%.

Therefore, of the 16 million cars bought by Americans, only 25% of the vehicle content can be categorized as Made in America.

The United States trade deficit in automobile parts reached $93.5 billion in 2024.

Currently, the U.S. automobile and automobile parts industry (American-owned and foreign-owned firms) employs approximately one million U.S. workers.

Employment in automotive parts manufacturing totaled approximately 553,300 jobs in 2024, a decline of 286,000 jobs or 34% since 2000.

In 2023, Research and Development (R&D) by American-owned automobile manufacturers amounted to only 16% of global R&D spending. R&D by American-owned firms lagged behind the EU, which controlled 53% of global R&D.

TARIFFS WORK: Studies have repeatedly shown that tariffs can be an effective tool for reducing or eliminating threats to impair U.S. national security and achieving economic and strategic objectives.

A 2024 study on the effects of President Trump’s tariffs in his first term found that they “strengthened the U.S. economy” and “led to significant reshoring” in industries like manufacturing and steel production.

A 2023 report by the U.S. International Trade Commission that analyzed the effects of Section 232 and 301 tariffs on more than $300 billion of U.S. imports found that the tariffs reduced imports from China and effectively stimulated more U.S. production of the tariffed goods, with very minor effects on prices.

According to the Economic Policy Institute, the tariffs implemented by President Trump during his first term “clearly show[ed] no correlation with inflation” and only had a temporary effect on overall price levels.

An analysis from the Atlantic Council found that “tariffs would create new incentives for US consumers to buy US-made products.”

Former Biden Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen affirmed last year that tariffs do not raise prices: “I don’t believe that American consumers will see any meaningful increase in the prices that they face.”

A 2024 economic analysis found that a global tariff of 10% would grow the economy by $728 billion, create 2.8 million jobs, and increase real household incomes by 5.7%.

😳HOLY SH*T: Former CIA Director John Brennan Linked to 9/11 Hijackers’ Visas – 15 of 19 Visas Approved Under His Watch🚨

Let this sink in: 15 out of the 19 September 11 hijackers received their U.S. visas from the man who later became Director of the CIA — John Brennan.

🔍 Brennan was CIA Station Chief in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1996

🔍 He was the CIA daily intelligence briefer for President Clinton

🔍 He played a key role in approving and issuing visas for Saudi nationals

🔍 And 15 of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi citizens

Yet somehow, this same man rose to the highest ranks of U.S. intelligence, later leading the CIA and becoming a key player in pushing the Russia hoax against Trump.
