2007 Moga sex scandal: SSP, SP among 4 cops convicted

The special CBI court in Mohali on Saturday convicted four cops, including then Moga senior superintendent of police (SSP) and then Moga SP (Headquarters), in the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act 18 years after the scandal hit the headlines in 2007.

As per the challan, two women including a juvenile and Manjit Kaur, in connivance with the police officers and Barjinder extorted money from influential people by threatening to frame them in sexual abuse cases if they refused to pay up. Several prominent businessmen of Moga were blackmailed.

Woman among 2 held with 6.6 kg heroin in Ferozepur

Simran had hit the headlines in 2007 when she named several political bigwigs and senior police officials in the Moga sex scandal case whose trial is still pending in a CBI court.

One of Simran’s accomplice, [MANJIT KAUR], who was also accused in the Moga sex scandal case, had turned approver in the CBI court but she was murdered along with her husband in 2018 in Zira. Manjit had changed her name to Prabhdeep Kaur and was [eight- month pregnant when she was killed].

The woman murdered along with her husband at Zira in Ferozepur district on Friday has been identified as [MANJIT KAUR], who was the prime accused-turned-approver in the Moga sex scandal involving police personnel and politicians.

She was among 10 accused in the sex scandal and became approver in the case after which she was released on bail in 2013.

The official said four bullets were pumped into the heads of the two victims from a .38-bore gun, a prohibited weapon usually available with the armed forces.

Charges in the Moga sex scandal were framed against Barjinder Singh, son of former Punjab Minister Tota Singh, four police officers and four others here today.

It was also alleged that the cops and Barjinder had blackmailed prominent businessmen of Moga by making them fall in the call girls trap.

For the past 5 years the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has studied the weather modification potential of the Great Lakes region. Numerous observations of artificial rain and snowfall have been made in the Buffalo region of Lake Erie.

Through systematic cloud seeding activities substantial amounts of precipitation could be added to Lake Michigan during wintertime which could easily accumulate to a 10 day supply at a present cost to the consumer of $3 million.

During years of high lake level atmospheric water can be exported to other neighboring water sheds, or artificial snowfall can be targeted over skiing areas or cloud dissipating can be accomplished for the improvement of climate.
