Val Kilmer Top Gun Actor, Dies at 65

The 'Batman Forever' star died on Tuesday, April 1, of pneumonia, his daughter told The New York Times

By Ale Russian and Charmaine Patterson Published on April 2, 2025 12:04AM EDT

Val Kilmer, best known for movies such as 1986's Top Gun and 1995’s Batman Forever, has died. He was 65 years old.

His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, told The New York Times he died of pneumonia on Tuesday, April 1. He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and later recovered, she added.

Kilmer made his final appearance on film in 2022's Top Gun: Maverick, a sequel to the 1986 classic. Kilmer briefly appeared in the film, sharing a poignant moment with Tom Cruise onscreen.

"I just want to say that was pretty emotional," Cruise told Jimmy Kimmel about acting alongside his friend again. "I've known Val for decades, and for him to come back and play that character… he's such a powerful actor that he instantly became that character again."

After years of rumored health problems, Kilmer finally opened up about his battle with throat cancer during a December 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

The article revealed that the actor’s two-year fight with throat cancer had “taken its toll” on the family and noted that Kilmer had undergone a procedure on his trachea which made his voice raspy and left him short of breath….

In 2021, Kilmer shared his story for the documentary Val, directed by Leo Scott and Ting Poo. Kilmer produced the film with Mercedes and his son Jack. It focused on his difficult recovery process and received a standing ovation when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

"He's such a layered person, there's the childlike playfulness, but=then there's also the deep wisdom of somebody who's been on a spiritual path their whole life at the same time," Mercedes told PEOPLE of her father in 2021. "He's a lot of opposites that make him incredibly interesting, and it's kind of why our film is so interesting."

Kilmer was born in Los Angeles, California in 1959 to parents Eugene and Gladys, though they later divorced.

Tragedy struck the Kilmer family in 1977 when Kilmer’s younger brother Wesley drowned at the young age of 15.

“He was a genius,” Kilmer told The New York Timesin 2002.Kilmer praised his brother as an aspiring filmmaker, calling him so talented that he could have been another Steven Spielberg or George Lucas.

Shortly after his brother’s death, Kilmerbecame the youngest person at the time to be accepted into the famed Juilliard School’s Drama Group. This became the start of his acting career.

“I had a unique experience because I just lost my little brother a week before I started school,” Kilmer said in a talk at Juilliard in 2005. “So it was quite an emotional time for me, and in a way, the extremely high standards and the activity of the School I’m sure were good for me, becauseI was forced to really challenge myself about my very life, you know—what I believe about life and death. For me, it was a great way to progress out of that difficult time, to be thrown into such a great school.”

Though Kilmer had a few roles on Broadway, his big-screen break came in the 1984 movie Top Secret! — a parody of spy films in the Cold War era and the musicals Elvis Presley used to star in. Kilmer plays an American rockstar who travels to East Germany and gets caught in the fight and resistance towards reunification. The actor did his own singing and dancing in the film.

Kilmer’s superstar-making moment came in Top Gun, where he starred as a naval aviator Lt. Tom “Iceman” Kazanski alongside Cruise.

“It was fun,” Kilmer told Larry King in 2013 about working with Cruise and filming the movie. “My guy didn’t like him but it was fun to not like him.”

After gaining critical acclaim for his supporting role in Top Gun, the actor achieved starring success by helming Oliver Stone’s 1991 movie, The Doors. Kilmer starred as The Doors frontman Jim Morrison alongside Meg Ryan, committing fully to the role of the late troubled rocker by memorizing all his songs and even dressing like him.

In 1988, Kilmer married actress Joanne Whalley after they met while working together on the movie Willow. The couple had two children — Mercedes in 1991 and Jack in 1995 — before divorcing in 1996.

The late actor worked steadily throughout his career, starring in a one-man play titled Mark Twain: Citizen Twain in 2016 and turning to art late in his life. His final Facebook post, published on March 22, featured his latest painting.

Kilmer is survived by his daughter Mercedes and son Jack.

The FBI had Hunter Biden’s laptop, but on the day the NY Post story came out, the FBI refused to tell Big Tech the truth.

Last year, we detailed the FBI’s months-long campaign to ‘pre-bunk’ the New York Post story on the Biden family’s corruption ahead of the 2020 election.

Our report showed how the FBI worked to discredit the story as so-called ‘Russian disinformation’ before it was even published.

Read it here: judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subs…

The FBI’s campaign to discredit the Post story continued even after it was published on October 14, 2020.

That morning, one FBI analyst tried to tell Twitter that the laptop was real—until his bosses shut him up.

The internal FBI chat log also shows how far senior FBI officials went to silence this analyst.

==After the meeting, a senior FBI lawyer put a “gag order” on the analyst. Image

With the truth-telling analyst given a “gag order” and the FBI refusing the comment, Big Tech censored the Post story because the FBI had, for months, led them to believe it was Russian disinformation and had withheld the fact that the FBI was in possession of the laptop.==

During the week that Facebook demoted the story, over 30 million Americans cast their ballots in the 2020 presidential election.

Read about it here:

Fortunately, President Trump,

@AGPamBondi, @FBIDirectorKash have ended the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force, which was responsible for this ‘prebunking’ operation.

We will continue to work with them to increase transparency and end the weaponization of federal law enforcement.

Tesla protesters tempted to key cars, but say they reject vandalism as acceptable form of resistance

Tue, April 1, 2025 at 12:00 PM EDT

From Molotov cocktails to keying of cars, Tesla locations and vehicles have faced numerous acts of violence in recent weeks.

Fox News Digital spoke with protesters in New York City on Saturday about whether they believed vandalism, which has caught the attention of the Justice Department, to be an effective act of protest.

The protest was one of over 200 "Tesla Takedown" demonstrations planned on Saturday around the U.S. and the world. The purpose of the protest was to rally against DOGE head Elon Musk. According to the website, the protest was a "peaceful" movement, opposing "violence, vandalism and destruction of property."

"I have to resist with every fiber of my being, not keying a Tesla when I see one, but no," Maggie, from Park Slope, Brooklyn, told Fox News Digitalwhen asked if she thought vandalism was an effective form of protest. "I mean, the people who bought Teslas, frankly, I think a lot of them have buyer's regret, and they wish they didn't have the car they're trading them in at, you know, record pace."

Several legislators and celebrities, including Democratic Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and country music star Sheryl Crow, have let go of their Teslas in protest of Elon Musk.

"Effective is hard to say. I would be against it on ethical grounds. Is it politically effective? I'd be inclined to say no, because there's going to be a lot of backlash," said Jay, a resident of Brooklyn, who joined Maggie along with hundreds of others at Tesla’s Brooklyn location.

As news continues to break about acts of vandalism, more victims ofTesla destruction have come forward in recent weeks, including Abigail Gill — a disabled Tesla owner from Wichita, Kansas, who found her vehicle keyed after having dinner with her family. Gill uses a wheelchair and relies on the Tesla for mobility.

Scott, a Staten Island resident, shared he didn’t condone violence toward Musk, his vehicles or the people that drive them.

"On Staten Island, you see quite a few Teslas, and in New Jersey, you see just as many. They're getting pretty popular. So, what can you do?"Scott said.

Tesla popularity has dropped over recent months. The company's stock fell 36 percent in the first quarter of 2025, a precipitous drop linked to growing backlash against Musk's role as head of DOGE.

"I think this is the most acceptable way, which is what everybody is doing out here today —protesting," shared Laura from Brooklyn. "Burning a car is an entirely different act, and I don't think it's effective, largely because then it gives people a reason to dismiss all of the people out here today who are just protesting peacefully."

Following the protests in New York City, local officials are calling on the police to investigate multiple reports that potential Tesla buyers are allegedly recklessly testing the cars' safety features near the company's showroom in the city's Meatpacking District, according to a letter reviewed by Fox News Digital.

He says “Something made me pick up the remote to watch tv.” It was your brain and motivation, it wasn’t some divine intuition, you lost that when you intentionally shot a woman. You actually lost your soul and acting skills that day Alec.

How Trump Actually Performed with The Black Vote with Kid Rocktwo weeks ago

In this episode, Bill reconnects with rock-rap icon Kid Rock for his second round on Club Random—unpacking how they both manage to stay raw and honest in a world that loves to be outraged. Kid Rock talks about why he thought a Bud Light blow-up might be fun for social media. He also teases a new triple album (“Kid MF Rock”), wrestles with “woke” culture’s boundaries, and tries to sell Bill on the idea of finally meeting Donald Trump—complete with a tongue-in-cheek pitch for Elon Musk to carve Trump’s face onto Mount Rushmore. Bill, meanwhile, pushes back on Kid’s defense of Trump—especially around election denial—yet they bond over hating hypocrisy in both parties, not missing shows, and embracing the backlash that comes from speaking your mind. It’s a no-filter chat with two guys who, despite their differences, can’t help but find plenty of common ground.

Germany deploys troops to Russia’s doorstep for first time since the Nazis

A 5,000-strong armored brigade in Lithuania is set to be combat-ready by 2027, according to army plans

The German military has begun its first permanent deployment of troops on foreign soil since World War II.The 45th Armored Brigade is being positioned in Lithuania, near Russian ally Belarus, as Berlin prepares for a potential conflict in the coming years.

On Tuesday, a ceremony was held outside Vilnius, with Brigadier General Christoph Huber assuming command of the newly established unit, as reported by the German Bundeswehr Association (DBwV) lobby group and state media.

We have a clear mission. We have to ensure the protection, freedom, and security of our Lithuanian allies here on NATO’s eastern flank,”the general said during the ceremony.

Military personnel who arrived in Lithuania last year to prepare for the deployment have been formally integrated into the brigade. Once fully staffed and combat-ready by 2027, the unit will comprise approximately 5,000 military and civilian personnel, equipped with around 2,000 heavy weapons, according to German Army plans.

Moscow views NATO as a hostile entity, describing its expansion in Europe as a direct threat to Russian national security. The bloc’s pledge to admit Ukraine as a member and its increasing involvement with the nation have been cited by Russian officials as key causes of Moscow’s conflict with Kiev. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, a staunch advocate for troop deployment in Lithuania, has claimed that Russia could launch an attack on NATO by 2029 or 2030 – a claim that Moscow categorically rejects.

In 2023, Berlin and Vilnius signed a stationing agreement, initially designating the new German unit as the 42nd Brigade. Two of its battalions will consist exclusively of German soldiers, while the third will incorporate personnel from other NATO countries. Portions of the brigade will be stationed at the Rudninkai training ground in southeastern Lithuania, only 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the Belarusian border, while additional units will be stationed near the village of Rukla between Vilnius and Kaunas.

Post-Nazi Germany previously restricted military deployments abroad to temporary assignments, such as contributing to NATO forces following the occupation of Afghanistan in 2001.

(Nazis never left. Provocations to cause a war, it won’t work with Russia. Trump needs to give his two cents)

US ignoring Ukraine’s energy ceasefire violations – Kremlin

Kiev has effectively ignored the Trump-mediated moratorium, spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said

Washington is ignoring Kiev’s violations of a US-mediated moratorium on attacks against energy infrastructure in the conflict with Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

Last month, US President Donald Trump successfully urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to pause strikes on energy sites. While Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky publicly endorsed the moratorium, the Russian Defense Ministry has reported attacks against Russian infrastructure since the agreement was announced on March 18.

”Kiev’s breaches of the moratorium, or rather its tacit refusal to comply, continue,” Peskov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

He added thatMoscow has been informing Washington about the violations, but “there has been no reaction to this situation and the actions of the Kiev regime.”

The Trump administration advocated for a partial ceasefire as a preliminary step toward achieving a broader truce in the Ukraine conflict.

While Moscow is supportive of the proposal, Putin stressed that any suspension of the hostilities must include measures to prevent Kiev from using the pause to strengthen its military before resuming combat. He suggested that a full ceasefire would require a halt to Ukraine’s mobilization drive and an end to Western military aid.

Last Sunday, Trump expressed his frustration with Putin during a phone call with NBC News, criticizing the Russian leader’s recent comments in which he questioned Zelensky’s legitimacy. Trump threatened stricter sanctions on Russia if progress cannot be made in peace negotiations and if he considers Moscow to be at fault.

On Monday, however, Trump said he believes Putin is genuinely seeking to end the conflict and would “follow through” on any agreements made with him.

(Putin is pissed at Trump now. The lefts bullshit might be working. Or this is Trump and Putin’s plan to get the legacy media to believe there is a division.)
