NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ historic corruption case dismissed — leaving him free to campaign for second term
New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ historic federal corruption case has been tossed — leaving him free to campaign for a second term without the threat of jail hanging over his head.
Judge Dale Ho ordered the case to bedismissed on Wednesday with prejudice, formally killing the criminal case that has hung over Hizzoner’s head for six months.
“To be clear, the Court again emphasizes that it does not express any opinion as to the merits of the case or whether the prosecution of Mayor Adams “should” move forward.,” Ho wrote in the 78-page decision. “The Court notes only that it has no authority to require that it continue.”
He also argued that the mayor could not properly do his job — putting New Yorkers at risk — as the ongoing case left him without a security clearance to get briefed on major threats.
But he didn’t address the merits of the case in his motion, and also urged that the door be left open to possibly revive the prosecution following November’s mayoral election.
The DOJ’s letter ordering federal prosecutors to drop the case sparked an exodus from the department and the Southern District of New York, which brought the case, including the interim head of the prestigious office, Danielle Sassoon, who raised the quid pro quo allegation in a searing resignation letter.

Moment Lady Teacher in US is Arrested for Sexually Assaulting 15-Year-Old Student
Chicago: Chicago police have arrested a high school teacher, Christina Formella, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old student. The arrest, captured on police body camera footage, took place while she was inside her car with a man, believed to be her husband.
The allegations came to light afterthe minor’s mother accessed his iCloud account and discovered evidencesuggest alleged sexual relationship between him and his high school teacher, after which she filed a formal complaint against the teacher. Investigations revealed that Formella had allegedly been abusing the student since 2023, with evidence suggesting an ongoing inappropriate relationship.
Police also recovered some text messages of both student and teacher.
"I love you sooooo much baby… Even though this morning was short, it was perfect," the Chicago teacher allegedly said in a text to the student.
Formella has denied all allegations, claiming that she is being targeted because of her appearance. According to court documents, she said, "Everybody comes after me because I am good-looking."She further alleged that the student had accessed her phone without permission, sent messages to his own device, and later used them as blackmail against her.
Court filings also reveal that Formella documented details of her interactions with the student in the Notes app on her phone. Authorities believe these entries provide crucial insights into the nature of the relationship, contradicting her defense claims.
However, Formella claims all references of s*x are about her husband.

Florida man dressed as Ronald McDonald wrestled to the ground by cops: ‘I am a clown, stupid’
Wild bodycam footage shows a Florida man being busted while dressed as Ronald McDonald — telling cops after a scuffle, “I am a clown, stupid.”
Christopher Marlowe, 40, was dressed as the McDonald’s character in a bright yellow, red and white costume and a big red nose as he was wrestled to the ground and arrested for trespassing at a shopping center last week, footage released by Palm Bay Police Department shows.
As he was put in the back of a police cruiser, Marlowe was told by one of the arresting officers: “You look like a clown.”
“No s–t!” the suspect shot back. “I am a clown, stupid.”
Adding to the bizarreness of the arrest, the police department added clown noises to the footage.
‘What do you call someone who returns to a shopping plaza after they’ve been Trespassed? A clown,” the department quipped in the video caption.

The fire was discovered by South Carolina sheriff's deputies, state park workers and first responders as they searched for a missing hiker.
April 2, 2025
SOUTH CAROLINA (WLOS) – Officials with the South Carolina Forestry Commission have arrested three teenagers in connection with the Table Rock Fire, which has now spread to nearly 14,000 acres.
The three teens were charged with one count each of negligently allowing fire to spread to lands or property of another. Their names are as follows:
Nyzaire Jah-Neiz Marsh, 19, of Taylors, S.C.
Tristan Tyler, 18, of Greenville, S.C.
Isaac Wilson, 18, of Greenville, S.C.
The Table Rock Fire was discovered by South Carolina sheriff's deputies, state park workers and first responders on March 21 in Table Rock State Park while they were searching for a missing hiker. The search group then evacuated seven hikers, some of which were questioned about the fire.
Interviews with South Carolina law enforcement led to four subjects, including three adults and one minor, being questioned further. Investigators from the South Carolina Forestry Commission and Pickens County Sheriff's Office then gathered evidence that allegedly identified Marsh, Tyler and Wilson as suspects in starting the fire.

2 Coloradans face federal charges in Loveland Tesla dealership vandalism, damage
A Fort Collins resident and a Lyons resident are now facing federal charges for multiple incidents of vandalism and damage at a Loveland Tesla dealership earlier this year.
The dealership, at 1606 N. Lincoln Ave., was targeted multiple times in January, February and March.
"The Department of Justice is committed to ending all acts of violence and arson directed at Tesla properties and otherwise," a March 20 news release stated.
Cooper Jo Frederick of Fort Collins, 24, is accused of causing a fire by igniting an incendiary device and throwing it at the Tesla building, where it landed between two vehicles, according to the Loveland Police Department.
The building and some vehicles were also damaged by rocks, police said.
Frederick now faces one count of malicious destruction and attempted destruction of property by fire, and one count of possession of an unregistered destructive device, according to a March 31 U.S. Attorney's Office news release.
Frederick was arrested Friday in Frisco, Texas, the news release said after running back to his mother's house.
Frederick was initially arrested by Loveland police in March and posted a $20,000 cash surety bond, according to online Colorado court documents.
Lucy Grace Nelson of Lyons, 42, is suspected of spray painting, throwing rocks at and starting a fire by lighting an incendiary device at the dealership on Jan. 31, Feb. 2 and Feb. 7.
Loveland police accused Nelson of tagging the dealership's building and vehicles with words that "were offensive and hateful in nature."
On Feb. 7, a Coloradoan reporter observed the words "Nazi Car" spray painted on the back of one of the dealership's buildings.
Nelson, also identified as Justin Thomas Nelson, now faces one count of malicious destruction of property, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Nelson was arrested by Loveland police in February and posted a $100,000 cash surety bond.
The U.S. Attorney's Office detailed the allegations in the news release:
On Jan. 29, police said they found an incendiary device, also known as a Molotov cocktail, next to a Cyber Truck after responding to a report of a fire at the dealership.
On Feb. 2, police responded to a report of graffiti on the dealership sign. Black spray paint was used to write the word "Nazi," according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
On Feb. 7, police responded to a report of graffiti and possible arson. They said they found broken bottles, which can be the result of setting off an incendiary device.
On Feb. 11, a security guard at the dealership found a person painting graffiti on the front windows of the building, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
On Feb. 24, police confronted Nelson at the dealership and said they found a gasoline container, a box of bottles and wick material in Nelson's vehicle, similar to items they found after the incidents.

'Forge Warriors, Rebuild Strength, Restore Deterrence,' Hegseth Tells Midshipmen During Academy Visit
The Brigade of Midshipmen greeted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth with thunderous applause upon his arrival to King Hall at the U.S. Naval Academy this afternoon to kick off the defense secretary's first visit to the academy since his confirmation in January.
Hegseth shook hands with the future officers before stepping to the podium at the dining hall's center to deliver remarks.
"I'm honored to stand before you," Hegseth began. "About 30 minutes ago, I was sitting in the Oval Office with the Commander in Chief, Donald [J.] Trump. I have never witnessed a leader more focused … on directly advancing America first in every single decision he makes, including how he leads the military and how he deploys troops."
Hegseth extended the president's greetings to the brigade.
"The president sends his best," he said. "He and I want you to know that our job is to make sure that the military you are entering is prepared to deter the wars we don't need to fight and then close with, destroy and defeat the enemies we must."
After lunch, Hegseth joined the brigade at Alumni Hall, where he articulated Trump and the Defense Department's priorities to over 4,000 of the school's students and faculty by reflecting on his recent trip to the Indo-Pacific and likening the veterans of the World War II Pacific campaign to the young people before him.
