In the grand scheme of things, if the items you are buying are made in the THIS country, they will cost less than a similar/like item imported from another country. THAT is what these tariffs do. You are still welcome to buy something imported, but it will cost you more than the same item made in America.
On the flip side, items we export (our goods to other countries) will have a higher tariff on them which is good for our bottom line. America has been ripped off for years by not charging higher tariffs to countries that charge us higher tariffs.
Bottom line, if it's made in America(THAT is the big push to get businesses to move here), and you live in America, your costs will be lower. It's not going to happen overnight. But it will happen.
