Even the Supreme Court, who to be clear has violated the Constitution in multiple "rulings", said in 1987 that "freedom of individuals verbally to oppose or challenge police action without thereby risking arrest is one of the principle characteristics from which we determine a free nations from a police state". People are not only being arrested but physically hurt for simply verbally challenging police. They have gotten away with violence against citizens for so long it's now the first course of action for many as soon as their ego takes a hit.
